- There is a whole lot of people with second homes, lake houses and cottages in the USA and Canada. Start appealing to them by creating unique tables, charcuterie boards, coasters and wood art using a CNC machine or laser engraver. This video shows you how to use google maps to export and then convert lakes, rivers, coastal areas and other bodies of water to SVG vector files you can use in your CNC or laser projects.

Awesome table transformation, and matching board!!
Thanks team TB!
Excellent tutorial, thank you 👍
You are most welcome! Glad you found it useful.
Vectric v-Carve can convert to a svg file straight from Google images without all those extra steps.
Its true that you can use the trace function, however I find the feature lacking compared to the online SVG Conversion tools.
very nice tutorial ! is there a way to create the lake svg with out using photoshop ?
would you use Rubio Monocoat on a cutting board?
No, most definitely not. You want to use a natural, food safe oil based finish. Like @TotalBoat wood honey, or food safe mineral oil.
I couldn't find a way to remove all labels. Seems like being able to use Google Maps for this depends on which lake you want and whether there is a label on it or not. Is there way to remove all labels?
Its been a little while since I've used it honestly. I dont have any insight on how to disable the labels.
Title is misleading. Getting a vector from Google Maps????
