- I caught the final arch of the historic Sixth Street Bridge being taken down on August, 2016 and made this little ode to the bridge. Originally built in 1932 as part of FDR's New Deal, the Sixth Street Bridge appeared in hundreds of movies and commercials, and was one of the most iconic bridges in the world.
I live really close to the bridge and see it every day; I've taken tons of friends through the tunnel to the LA River, wandered across multiple low rider meet-ups, was first on scene to a fatal car crash there, spent New Years on the arches, and got to know the homeless who called the bridge home for years.
The bridge suffered from "concrete rot" and had to be demolished. The bridge will be replaced by the $400 Million dollar Sixth Street Viaduct Replacement project by 2019. It's gone now, but not forgotten.

Thank you so much for this. I remember this bridge so fondly, especially in the opening of the film Mi Familia.
Nice memorium... Loved that bridge, still do!
Well dang. Didn't know about them taking it down. We'll miss you, bridge.
😭 I remember seeing that when I was young, it's now memories then..
Easterbunbun AJ me to 😭😭😭😭😭
Thanks so much for capturing this, sad though it is!
Well, now L.A.'s got a brand-new Sixth Street Viaduct, which is about to open tonight to all traffic.

Before the Capitol was built and shifted the center of commerce to Congress Avenue, Old Pecan Street was Austin's main street.
SHE GONE!!
That was cool!
Please make another caines arcade tour!
The sad part is the new bridge is in way worse condition than the old bridge due to criminals. LA does not deserve the current bridge since it is continuously being trashed.
Um... yeah... it wasnt in he dark knight rises... 😂
