I have a short story
I remember the first time I ever recorded something (about a decade ago at this point)
My older cousin (who introduced me to hip hop through the Wu) with whom I usually did most of my freestyle stuff with at that point;
And who I had been sharing my writing with from my first attempt until today, convinced me finally that I needed to record what we were doing.
I remember it was Christmas time, and that it started off with a skit about a 40 year old Italian guy who would wash his iroc z in his driveway and cat call the younger girls in the hood.
Anyway... I told him I would only record if we did it on a cassette tape.
He conceded, and only asked me why a few years after, and I said that If he thought my music was worth hearing, and that people would think so too, then they would find someplace to listen to a cassette tape... and if my fans aren’t as willing as I am to hear hip hop, then they can go buy someone’s cd.
