    For the pressure thing, go into the same audio/video settings and mess with the background noise. Not only does this receive the pressure, but it’s great for people like me who have tinnitus. Even better, you can just turn it on to relax as you can choose white noise, rain, water, etc.

    I agree that the the upper mids are a bit recessed, and that your recommended EQ settings are helpful. However, I don't agree that your recommended Accessibility Menu "hacks" are an improvement. Those settings are meant to help people who have hearing loss in certain frequency ranges. They don't work the same way that a traditional EQ does. They screw with the dynamic range, and that was apparent to me the moment that I tried it. It's similar to the old school "loudness" buttons on stereos...except a bit more targeted. That being said, I can see how it can seem like an improvement. Many people equate louder with better.

    • @Killyang
      @Killyang  Před 3 lety +5

      The keyword is “targeted” sound boost. While I do not know the exact frequency range that Apple is boosting with that setting I can assure you it’s not the same as turning up your overall gain/volume a couple notches. I agree with you that louder = better for most but if you compare a song at higher volume without the boost and then compare again at a lower volume with that boost on, the shaping of the sound is very apparent. The boost is definitely targeted somewhere towards the mids and upper mids. If iOS had a built in audio eq I would simply tell everyone to boost the 1 to 6khz frequencies to greatly improve the AirPods Max and call it a day. With that said your feedback is appreciated.

    • @edwinramos4910
      @edwinramos4910 Před 3 lety +10

      @@Killyang I agree that it's not the same as just turning up the gain/volume a couple of notches. It's also affecting the dynamic range, and that's why I have a problem with it.
      The description under the slider for "Balanced Tone" spells this out. It says "soft sounds will be boosted slightly, moderately, or strongly". This is another way of saying that the setting tampers with the dynamic range. Part of what it's doing is compressing dynamic range.
      To my wife's ever lasting annoyance, I've spent way too much money over the past decade in order to be able to listen to quality recordings over quite a few different quality headphones..and on the rest of the gear that goes along with them. I only say this to emphasize that I have a pretty good feel for what the music that I listen to should sound like, and the changes that those accessibility settings make sound wrong to me. But, like you said, it definitely makes the mids sound louder, so I'm not surprised that many people like the end result.

  • @vadimnekhaj
    @vadimnekhaj Před 2 lety +1

    Thank you for that idea 💡 it sounds really interesting as it gives additional emphasis on mids and highs, BUT at the expense. Lows becomes inexpressive at all. Plus it adds up noice for certain music genres - not so good. Anyway, it was worth a try.

    • @Killyang
      @Killyang  Před 2 lety +1

      Try the slight setting instead. You should see a moderate boost in the mids and the low end will still be there. Also it depends which bitrate you are streaming at. If you have Spotify premium or Apple Music then you should be okay. Thanks for the feedback.

    So I have an ipad pro with the quadspeakers and noticed cool details within the best of songs I didn’t notice before. I’m sure theres a term for what I’m trying to say but not sure what it is. But if you get me, Are there good headphones that are capable of achieving the same sound the quad speakers produce?

    • @Killyang
      @Killyang  Před 2 lety

      Yes what you are referring to is called sound stage. There are some headphones that have very good sound stage. Look at beyer dynamic dt 990 pro or sennheiser hd 599. Both excellent and under $200. The AirPods Max have very good sound stage however.

  • @viswanathankalyanasundaram9315

    It results in extra hissing noise along with the boost ( u can check by listening to relatively silent sections of songs after cranking the volume up) so i am not sure if this is a good idea ..

    • @Killyang
      @Killyang  Před 2 lety

      yes it depends on which type of music you are listening to. for example i noticed with classical music there is a bit of a hiss introduced. this is normal because the mids and highs are being boosted but in my experience for most genres of music the pros far outweigh the cons because unfortunately the mids are lacking out of the factory

  • @jp.franke
    @jp.franke Před 2 lety +4

    Am I the only one who thinks the sound is better with left this option off? I've been testing A/B for hours now. I'm a music producer tho so my taste might be different to the typical music consumer. In my opinion the option boosts the high mids and highs which sounds kinda nice, but im missing some of the punchyness of the mids when turned off... sometimes i like the option sometimes I don't. When turned on I prefere the slight mode a lot more than the moderate or strong one !

    • @Killyang
      @Killyang  Před 2 lety

      you bring up a good point, for certain songs actually it's better to leave it at default setting. it really depends on the genre of music but for most genres for me turning that setting on brings a big improvement even at the expense of hurting dynamic range a little. It's totally up to user preference to turn the enhancements on/off and by how much of course... There is no official right or wrong answer.

    • @jp.franke
      @jp.franke Před 2 lety

      @@Killyang True but the biggest no go for me is the noiselevel which is increased a lot by this option. I hear a lot of movie music and in the quiet parts it sounds so noisy with turned on. Even when something about the sound is better.

    There is an “even better” possibility to increase the sound in my opinion. If you have a hearingtest app on your phone it can make a profile of your hearing and you can also use that as a setting under accessibility. I use the app Mimi hearingtest. The price they charge for these,you shouldn’t have to be searching for apps to make them sound loud. This is the reason I’m returning these worthless gimmicky overpriced headphones. After three days and not being able to figure out why a pair of $100 skull candy headphones blow these “air pods max” out of the water. Only thing APM has is spacial audio and clear sound. Little to no bass and super low. Dafuq outta here with $500 headphones made of metal that you cant wear when it’s cold outside because condensation will build up inside and burn out the board 😂 Too bad I didn’t look at all these videos first of “boosting up” your volume to make $500 headphones sound good.

      @@thecooldude4564 Yes indeed. I have XM4, lost a set of XM3 revently - own a pair of momentum 3, gave away a set of QC35s and listening currently on th4e max’s. I know the price is REALLY hard to accept, but the quality is something else. No fiddling with EQ compares. Wish it did - however, it genuinely doesn’t matter what I think… if you love the XM4’s save yourself a fortune and grab then. They’re an AMAZING set of headphones.

    As a producer and engineer how can I hook these up to a interface ?

    • @Killyang
      @Killyang  Před 2 lety

      You can use the aux cable sold separately and then connect it to the interface using a headphone jack to quarter inch adapter. Having said that I would highly recommend against using these for any kind of mixing because they do not have a flat sound at all! Only for final listening from an listener/end user perspective.

    Great review. A little advice is the auto focuser kinda messes with the eyes when you back in and out. I'd highly recommend just setting it manually center
    it will give you a much better and cleaner video. The auto track focus is convenient but at the cost of quality... And you got all the other reviewer intangibles.

      @@sokipper2007 I never used the dt770 but I did use the dt880 back in the days and I did not like them for production. They were bass heavy. My apologies Android users are not SOL! There are lots of EQ options out there such as the equalizer & bass booster app to tweak your sound. I would recommend a +2-3db boost on the upper mid vocal range frequencies (1 to 6kHz) to make the vocals pop out more because that’s where the AirPods max are lacking in my opinion. Also some audiophiles have mentioned that the highs are tuned a bit too strong but I personally love hearing the high hats and cymbals in my music so that one is a matter of preference!

    If you use the Smart Case after you have used the AirPods Max, it will not run out of power, because when the AirPods Max are in the Smart Case, they will turn off/sleep automatically. This is the main function of the Smart Case.

    • @Killyang
      @Killyang  Před rokem

      They also turn off on their own after 5 mins without the smartcase. The smartcase just saves you a bit of extra battery at the expense of hurting your eyes when you look at it. : D
