It is actually expandable to 64GB. I put 2 32GB sticks in mine. (4 bay version but should be the same)

I've noticed that you put in a Seagate Hard Drive, was that one of the hard drives listed in their compatibility list or can you just put in any drive?

i just found what was cheap on ebay and grabbed it. wasn’t a nas drive but it works for my needs

My Plex library index/metadata takes up more than 8 GB eMMC. So where does it store that… on your drives?

You can set it up in many raid configurations, so yes is can be used as storage as well
