- It's been a pretty predictable ride when it comes to guessing who will make the final four in the College Football Playoff. With Alabama and Clemson both riding historic waves of success, it's led to less than surprising final matchups. But now a new plan has been launched to expand the Playoffs from 4 teams to 12 teams and the only thing left to do is tell Clemson and Alabama.

It's not Clemson's job to make the other teams in the ACC better. Ten years ago FSU, Miami, VT, NC State and BC were consistently good. Clemson wasn't. To a degree the ACC might be good compared to other teams. Clemson just makes them look bad.

As much as there were great teams in 2004. In fact that would have been one of the best years for a real playoff with 4 undefeated teams, yet only one of them actually made the game.
However 2004 USC was on a completely other level.....
@@brian2440 We don't really know about USC being on another level because they played Oklahoma who showed up for their normal ass whippin'. LSU beat OU in 2003, USC beat that ass in 2004, then OU got beat in the playoffs in 2017 by UGA, in 2018 by Bama, in 2019 OU was destroyed by LSU........and the beat goes on.

Let's be honest, we all know that when the playoffs expand to 12 teams both Alabama and Clemson will fall to 11th and 12th seeds only to win out and meet in the National Championship Game again.
Exactly. Absolutely ensures that all the power center teams never miss the playoffs, and even in seasons when they lose 2 or 3 regular season games, they'll still be as good or better than most other teams in the playoff. No need to earn their way in by actually winning the regular season games
Bama will still be great. Clemson on the other hand will suffer. Their competition in the ACC is atrocious

Believe it or not, one of these years in a 12 team playoff, we will get at least ONE Cinderella story... Whether it's UCF, Cincinnati, Boise State, BYU, Appalachian State or Coastal Carolina, someone is gonna make it to the finals one year and win out... Not a matter of if, but when and who.

They went to 4 teams after Bama and LSU made it an all SEC championship game after about 14 or 15 years of the BCS. It only took 4 years to get an all SEC championship game with Bama and Georgia in the 4 team playoff. As a Bama fan first and SEC fan second, I'm all for this 12 team playoff.

The only reason why Bama shouldn't make the playoffs if they are undefeated or have one loss is if they agree to do a bowl game with a team made of NFL players.
I would have loved to see Bama's offense last year playing against an NFL defense as I think they could have actually won a game against NFL backups.

A true playoff? LOL, over 40 yrs, the average ranking / seeding of the winner is less than 4. In the past 10yrs, no one outside the top 4 has won and the average over those 10yrs is 1.9.
The championship caliber teams separate themselves. They always do. 4 is the right number and FCS should adopt it. Give the other teams a bowl or something.
All A&M has to do is beat Alabama. Wait... LSU did that and they still got a rematch.

As a Florida State fan, I wake up everyday with that wish in my heart
Norvell has been on fire recruitingwise lately and the OL coach we have will have them playing at a high level within a couple of seasons. I foresee that we’ll be very good within the next couple of seasons. Whether or not we’ll be contenders will depend on how well we can develop talent.
