What a show that was, amazing how Oliveira can overcome his bike and totally dominate wet races over riders with much more competitive bikes yet the journalists and commentators never really consider him for wins despite since 2020 only Quartararo and Bagnaia having more wins. The ultimate underdog!🔥💥

@@yunan9610 Binder wins squat apart from a bold decision to keep the slicks while everyone else went to change the tyres. BB is a good rider, but he doesn't win races. KTM is only being taken seriously as a potential competitive bike (and that's being generous) because of Miguel victories. Mind you, while not sharing the same bike development as the south african. Miguel is 8th and BB is 6th, but Miguel has done far more in a brand that wants to prove that is capable. It's really an easy decision there.

I think it is clear that he's top rider, the difference is that in dry conditions the others have more balanced bikes and can be as competitive has him. so ovehaul he's one of the most complete riders on the grid. very curious to see Aprillia next year!! hope they can deliver a good package bike for the Iberian squad! good luck MO88!!

Miguel have won 5 motoGP races: 3 in dry conditions (Styria, Portimão and Catalunha) and 2 in wet (Mandalika and Thailand). So he is not only good in wet. Anyway it's a feat for a KTM to outrun a Ducati in a circuit like Thailand, with it's long straights. Even in the wet. Congratulations once more, Miguel.
Pilots don't like to race in wet conditions, but some are more suited due to their driving style and specific competences.
The best pilots in wet conditions have the ability to instinctively follow the right trajectory for the whole turn. Meaning that they don't need to adjust the steering along. Different pilots frequently follow different trajectories for the same curve. But there is only one way to do it right, and the best pilots catch it right away.
Another must in the wet is concentration and consistency from start to end of the race.
Also important is to master the power. A little too much on the throttle, means a huge punch of horsepower to the rear wheel.
They must also have the ability to quickly read the track and adjust to its conditions. And it is wise to plan ahead the overtakings, by studying the weak points of direct contenders instead of throwing wildly over them. In tat respect, Miguel reminds me of Kevin Schwantz.
In wet conditions there is less tolerance. A good pilot in the wet is also a good pilot in dry, though he may sometimes lose to more rude pilots. Anyway, look in the rain for good pilots.

I recall another rain serenade of Miguel in Moto2 in the soaking wet track of Valencia, when, with 13 seconds of advantage, he kept successively beating his own lap record. And I remember Aki Ajo totally relaxed in his chair, knowing that Miguel could go on forever on that rhythm.

    • @pedrofrederico5934

Incidentally, that was Alex Marquez's race to lose - also a very interesting rider in the wet with strong finishes in Le Mans 2020 and in this Thai GP in particular as well. But you know what they say, to win you first have to finish the race (Marquez still finished 3rd, 22s off despite having crashed). The 2nd was one Iker Lecuona that we might have heard off ;)
I really hope this is not a pattern from Miguel, but when there's nothing at stake is when he pulls his masterpieces off. I am really hopeful that a more friendly bike such as the RS-GP allows him to fulfil all his potential!
