I'd like to see Bushmaster have a go at making truck for the new application of missile I'd like to see a vehicle with 4 or 8 of these missile strike master is really good concept, the missile system has good range yet in the war situation you'd need 1,125 of them to have a simultaneously strike capability of 2,250 missile of what ever the blast radius of that is, if you had a vehicle that carry 8 of the missile you'd only need 282 vehicle to match that capability, I look at the targeting system as a waste for two missile where it could fix on a lot more targets being within strike range of perhaps 8 enemy vehicle utilizing the targeting system to its full potential

I'd heard that the Antonov 225 was rated at 260 tonnes maximum cargo weight. While their weight will vary according to their configuration, a Bushmaster weighs about 16 tonnes. That would simply be a matter of measuring the cargo deck of the 225, but I'd say at least 10 of them

It's not designed as a front line vehicle like an infantry fighting vehicle. It's for getting troops around the battlefield like the Hummer was but protected. While other coalition forces where getting blown up in their soft skinned vehicles in Afghanistan and Iraq (64% of American casualties where from IEDs), Australians survived the 30 or so serious blasts without a fatality. It's only later on that Americans and the British developed the MRAP after a lot of casualties.

It's taken over the role of soft skinned vehicles such as Humvee's and other troop carriers. The Bushmaster was the first ever military MRAP in the world designed and built in Australia.
@@anthony9thompson i worked on the evaluation team for taipan and bushmaster - theyre pretty nimble. Drivers can end up in trouble if they get overconfident, but thats a training issue. Theyre designed to still travel at speed on 3 wheels even if a wheel gets blown off by a mine or IED. Considering thatIEDs werent even part of the initial eval criteria (vehicles designed before IEDs be ame an asymetric weapon of convenience) the fact that no fatalities have occurred on any bushmaster is a testament to the core south african design philosophy

The 18 ton ASLAV is already being replaced with the 36 ton eight wheel Rheinmetall Boxer CRV entering Australian Army service as we speak. The 18t M113AS4 APC will be replaced with the 43t Lynx KF41 IFV that comes with a 30mm turret auto cannon and 2x Spike LR2 anti-tank guided missiles. The Bushmaster isn’t designed to carry troops around during battle. It’s designed to protect the occupants from small arms fire, mine blasts and artillery shell fragments. The other two vehicles above are for battlefield transport. No chance your Carl Gustav or Kornet anti-tank missile is killing those when fitted with Iron Fist hard kill counter-measures. That aside, it’s worth noting that the Australian made Bushmasters saw extensive service in Afghanistan and Iraq with Dutch, British SAS and Australian troops and they took hits from dozens mines and IEDs over a decade but not a single soldier riding in them was killed.
The smaller HMMWV that you mentioned is also already in service in the Australian Army. It’s called the Hawkei PMV. You can find it in the CZcams search bar. It’s a sweet looking vehicle similar to the new US Army JTLV.

I probably should apologise but I’m just calling it that I reckon the Lynx will get selected for Phase 3, only because it’s the most obvious choice. It will share basically the same turret, sensors and ammunition as the now in service Boxer CRV, and Rheinmetall already has a major factory in Ipswich. Unlike Rheinmetall, the South Korean group Hanwha currently has no factories in Australia and the company doesn’t have the track record of the German company. I’m tipping that the decision will go to the KF41.

No. The prototype was based on a Irish design, but first built by Perry Engineering in South Australia. An Australian company ADI purchased the design and developed the design before it was selected by the Australian Army. The French company Thales bought a 50% stake in ADI and the vehicle has been built in Australia ever since.
Look forward to seeing how they cope with Russian drone and/or tank attack. Be great field testing with real battle exposure, without costing Aussie lives.
