Boy there are plenty of uptight jerks in this world! Thanks for the free lesson and thanks for the effort. Some of us were actually taught manners by folks who cared about us.
Never regret learning something about the guitar!
I know this is a three year old video, but these rude comments are frustrating. I watched the whole video and even enjoyed the fun metronome stuff. I took the time during this part while still watching and listening to download a metronome app so thanks for that and don't stop the real time fun stuff like this in your videos. I also liked the detailed explanation than was well balanced with playing because all play and no explanation doesn't help and all explanation without showing the playing also doesn't help so this was very well balanced. For all the one's who complained or griped about the instruction either aren't serious about playing bluegrass music or are so impatient in their lives, that they will never be satisfied with anything and as long as they have a keyboard and no one can see them they are the bravest in the world. Thanks again I gained some valuable tips from this video.
Just as the you feel some comments are rude and frustrating, others may feel frustrated by production values. If a submitter is dedicated and watching the comments (and they should be) they can see what bothers people and adjust their presentation. Of course viewers can simply watch another video and not comment. Then all the presenters that could have improved their viewing numbers, instead will be forced to quit making videos altogether.
@@GretschProf This was a livestream for a massive guitar instructional website. They put the archived video on youtube as a freebie. So I doubt they're worried about what you think of the production value of an ancient livestream.
@@jimjambananaslam3596 Nor your comments.
@@GretschProf Yeah, we know you have no attention span. Has it occurred to you that not everyone has that affliction?
@Ralph Reilly Right! Like maybe what I was doing. Did I stop anyone? Did I express my opinion just the same as everyone? Here's an idea stfu.
What a great video! Thank you for the tip on the metronome app. I agree with you about the nice sound of the wood block on it. Thank you for posting.
This was a great, informative video. Tyler is concise, and insightful. I may watch it again!
Thank you for this lesson - itâs exactly what I was looking for
I found this lesson helpful in its entirety. I feel like I have a road map to where I want to be. Thanks!
Lol the voice memo is one of my main tools, I been doin this a while, a lot of folks donât realize how handy youtube and smart phones are when practicing music , anyone remember wearing out cassettes by going over parts over n over , ya donât realize itâs wore out til u get a new tape , thanks for the video
That is a great lesson. Thank you.
Great video, thanks. The metro e on top of your head is a great tip. Our banjo player has a flat head so we will put it on himđđ¶đ¶
Great lesson Tyler! Thank you!
Thanks! Great lesson! Teaching technique and picking!
Great lesson! Thank you.
Top vid and great capo tip at end!
Well I got some good info from this - even un edited!
This is what I want to get into. a good video to watch and learn too, thanks for all the information.
It's my experience that someone who's too impatient to skip a few minutes of technical issues, that person is too impatient to learn how to play guitar in the first place.
I look back on countless of hours working on both lead licks and rhythmic feel with that metronome clicking away. It's boring, yes, but you can't expect instant results with things like muscle memory and the like. Practice takes time and dedication, you gotta put in the work to be better. If you don't, you'll just be some random guy complaining about stuff on CZcams.
Thanks for this sharing! This is very helpful in learning the bluegrass style. Iâm trying to get better at this style coming from more of a swing style.
Swing is bluegrasses 1st cousin! đ€Ș
I canât believe all the comments bitching about this lesson. When I started playing in the 1990s as a kid I would have given anything to have access to such things as this. I had no CZcams or teacher. I am completely self taught by pure trial and error. As a result Iâm a sloppy player and not nearly as good as I should be. I didnât even know what a scale was until years later. But you guys have access to this stuff and should be thankful for it.
Just subscribed Thanks for the tips!
Love the video! Love the guitar! ! You've worked that guitar haven't you!
Cool lesson, was curious about straps i was curious about it and saw someone's comment asking about them. Link doesn't work for straps so I assume maybe they're sold out?
Cheers
Thanks for the tips :)
Nice guitar, very nice playing, great video
that collings has a great sound. been to the factory. too rich for me. ioi

Excellent vid, glad i came across this,by the way what type of capo is that? i been thinking about getting one
Thank you! đ
Sure there could be some improvement to the clip BUT....I have watched a lot of other clips and found he did get to the point faster than many....there is a lot to learn if yo just watch and listen.....and work on expanded on what he says. Even the little errors that could have been edited out at least shows a human side that make it feel as if it is some guy just jamming with you. If you want more detail on the songs themselves just slow down the playback speed. If you don't like his style go somewhere else....if you do, as I do....listen and learn. I have been playing for over 53 years but still need a refresher in the basics and can still always learn something new if I watch carefully enough. Great job Tyler!
Sweet Collings bro
Tyler⊠what kind of strap are you using I want to get one..
Great Lesson!! I am trying to learn all the fiddle tunes like you are saying. I have learned Salt Creek, I know Soldiers Joy, I will learn Arkansas traveler. Do you have a recommendation on which fiddle tunes to learn first. I am sure some are done at Jam sessions more than others??
Just a couple here, Old Joe Clark, Sally Goodin, and one of my favorites although difficult to play a lead to John Hardy, Bill Cheatham. There are some great books out there also. Try listening to Dan Crary. His first is Bluegrass Guitar and youâll fall deep. Doc Watson will inspire you as he was one of the first to flatpick these tunes. Good luck
I forgot, type in Backing Tracks and they have many of these tunes without a lead. Just the music to many tunes in time, which will help speeding up or slowing down.
This is CZcams, and yes, I'm lurking.
nice treble sound
What size pick do you use
Very slow start but lots of good content. Thank you.
U. No. You. Lying
Where can I get a strap like youâre using?
avec une tablature ça serait le top merci
No gripping here Thanks a million!!!
got my thumbs up after the head balancing act lol
Where did you get your shirt.? I gave up before you started playing, if you ever did.
31:30 ! sounds great man!
Great lesson on how to use a phone.
Hey Tyler I am lurking too. Looking for tips to bring to a whole band situation, more so than just individual practice.
Hi, I have not had the opportunity to do much of that kind of lesson on JamPlay. They don't have a big enough studio setup to do that. Come see me at one of my workshops next Summer...
Such a great player!
did he really just try to put that on his head?
just show me a slow tune note for note
A battery powered quartz metronome cost $40 in the 80s. LOL
Chuck Norris gave us a great lesson!!!
He also has a video on how to get best results on Total Gym !
I thought I was the first to think he looked like Chuck Norris, lol
He's proper grey now!
(In a creepy low voice) Hello, I am a lurker . I am going to take this guitar lesson for free and Iâll never admit to it! Ever !đžđžđžđž
One of these days I will catch you Jack Griffith. Mark my words. Your days of watching guitar lessons for free are numbered.
9:30
Fuel for hating metronomes! Maybe consider putting the metronome in your shirt pocket instead of balancing it on your head? The last half is worth the watch.
18:52 - what??
Nice lesson thank you , but man Iâm ADD .... please
How about skipping to the lick? Even beginners don't need that much explanation. I gave up and left.
You got a fast forward button, don't you? Some beginners need thorough explanation...
stuntman
The information is good, but the presentation leaves much to be desired. Doesn't really encourage viewers to sign up. However, the audio quality is pretty good.
Good lesson but it got a little weird when he said "you don't want to move around a lot when your playing" and then put his smart phone on hid head ? ? Like I said, good lesson, if you can wait around for it to start. I didn't hear any exercises un past 8 minutes in to the video.
Should've identified the video as Beginner Studies - Day 1.
You sound as if you just spent 30 dollars on this bit of instruction. If you knew anything of Tyler Grant, youâd probably open those ears and close the pie hole.
9:05. im out.
way over my head ---- just a beginner === I need the scales played slowly
always practise with a metronome and adjust angle of holding pick (just saved you 50 minutes of no actual lesson on increasing playing speed)
When are you gonna start? LOL
this guy is a sweaty wreck
I would like to complain for nothing...
Robert , me too, canât beat a good complain.
Balancing a phone on your head doesn't work!?!? Colour me surprised.
Chuck Norris playing guitar..... XD
Ronnie Dunn got Chuck Norris but pregnant
I didn't know Chuck Norris played bluegrass
I'm bringing home my baby bumblebee, won't my mommy be so proud of me.
So how do you learn all those fills hahahaha!!
just a tip...edit out unnecessary footage, such as messing with the metronome
If it was edited, it wouldn't be free. Just a tip, use your forward button.
Agreed. Free shouldn't mean full of useless, time consuming crap. Editing that out would have not been time consuming.
"Free" means you get what you pay for. Quit your whining.
This was a LIVE lesson. It is available on the archives of JamPlay.com. Sorry bout the metronome thing it was just something we were trying to get it closer to the mic :)
BROCSTRADAMUS good tip. Where are your video lessons?
It's Wednesday.
Chuck Norris teaches guitar.
When he said the word metronome, my eyes glazed over and jaw went slack. I went back to watching porn.
Lmao!! Thanks! Haha
is this a joke? good one.
is this guy crazy?
Great to see Chuck Norris plays guitar.
more rockin less talkin
Nice info but terribly unprofessional. they couldn't have edited out the metronome not being plugged in and him trying to balance it on his head?! Definitely doesn't make me want to pay for any of their videos

Waaaaay too much blah blah.

@@TylerGrant Scott Doonan wasted his own precious time bitching and getting bald. His fault
For a guy who gives advice he seems unprepared
way to much bs talk fooling with cords people look to learn guitar not cool
You got a better free method? This was a LIVE lesson. Much more material available, including my 27-lesson Flatpicking series at Jamplay.com
too much talking
Dude, edit the dead time in yer videos and get to the point bro!
Shane is the worst name ever
Terrible
Way to much time talking and not teaching
Beginning at 5:30, some editing would have been advisable.đ
