His Mother may not understand the music or the artform, but she saw her son putting his heart and soul into something that he loves. She understands that he is happy at that moment and in turn that internally makes her happy. It's a beautiful thing! She shakes her head not in dissaproval, but in approval of the fact that her son is happy doing his thing. POWERFUL SCENE.

      @James O'Keeffe Well it's obvious it's the Industry they stopped promoting talented artists so they could promote gang influencers as part of their Agenda a lot of f*cked up stuff goes on in Hip-Hop & the corruption of our Culture. This isn't a new thing either it's just now it's more noticeable & they're not hiding it. A&R's have been trying to push rappers to make mindless ignorant Gangsta Rap & NY MC's are made by the Radio stations to dumb down their music to the Southern rap style. With the exceptions being the North Carolina scene, Outkast & Goodie Mob they make/made true intelligent Hip-Hop. You gotta ignore all the hypocrisy, adversities & BS, free your mind & stay positive 1 time we can't let em win. We gotta keep the Spirit alive & uplift any people we can the popularity don't matter if we impact 1 person we have achieved our goal.

      DJ Scratch

    • @Rusty_trombone62
      @Rusty_trombone62 Před 4 lety +7

      He’s pressing too hard on the platters. Look at the tonearm when he’s scratching on the sound effects record. The tonearm is all over the place. There is no way the stylus held the groove of the vinyl. I was talking to DJ Frankie Cutlass (was in my car club in the 90s) and he even said that was DJ scratch who did all the scratching in this movie. Production gave Omar Epps a pair of 1200s to take home and practice certain hand and arm maneuvers. As well as DJ posture. But he’s definitely too aggressive. What he is doing there is the reason why all of y’all new vinyl DJs who bought a used set of 1200s have little to no anti skate control. Because he is beating the shit out of those tonearm bearings. Trust me I’ve been DZjing for 30 years as of 2019 and it was this movie that made me get serious, bought a set of real turntables (Technics 1200 mk2s that were only $300 brand new in 1992) I gave it 100% of my energy and ran a successful side business till 2018 when I retired. But anyway back to my point. He did not DJ this set. It was DJ scratch. Trust me I know all of the DJs who were the shit in the 90s and everyone I asked said it was scratch. And I never asked scratch because I didn’t want to insult him by being the only DJ who didn’t know it was him. But who knows maybe production let Omar Epps keep the 1200s in the film as a gift and he bought vinyl and learned in his free time. It’s not like he can’t afford a vinyl collection. But the thing about being a real DJ without a laptop is that you have to have you ear meaning that you have to be able to hear the beat ,Count the Beats bars and phrases , and be able to successfully transition into the next track without the bests clashing with each other. And this takes a lot of practice and its during this phase of learning where you will either take it seriously and give it 100% of your heart and stay home in your room and practice till you get your “ear” It’s the same as learning to play the guitar, you need to spend months& years practicing till your “guitar fingers” come around. Well it’s the exact same as being a real DJ. A person can either practice his/her ass off till their ear comes around or they can just quit and be an “IPod DJ” set up your gear, open your laptop, drop the needles on the serato control vinyl, ACTIVATE THE SYNC FUNCTION IN SERATO DJ😆, and play around with the knobs, do your little fist pumping, do a lame ass dance, and make a damn fool out of yourself. You may think you the shit but real DJs are watching you with disgust. A real DJ even if using digital control vinyl has no time for dancing and fist pumping because they are too busy setting up cue points, looking for the best that want to scratch on, and has a headphone on one ear monitoring the next track looking for the break to match the next track making sure timing is correct.

    I had no idea Kameron from 'The Young Black Teenagers' did these scratches for the movie. He was also the dude who played Jamal in 'House Party 2'.

    I tell you one thing, I was 7-8 years old during this time and my grandmother purposely bought my uncle who was 19 at the time turntables to keep his ass in the house away from the streets and it worked! Plus I use to sit on a crate and watch him and his boys scrat all day, damn I miss those times.

    This movie, my brother showed me when I was 7, this is what sparked my interest in djing. That is nuff respect but why does it sound kinda different even though he cut it up. I already know about that sound effects record, peep that from time but that loop hes got sounds different. DJ Scratch showed him whats up!
