In this video we are going to focus on how to defeat the Leviathan Boss in the game Final Fantasy XVI. This final boss will be a good test of your skills, using your new abilities and more. Plus lets get that Trophy / Achievement: Explain That (Tamed the tides)
Final Fantasy XVI is a 2023 action role-playing game developed and published by Square Enix. The sixteenth main installment in the Final Fantasy series, it was released for the PlayStation 5. The game features segmented open environments and an action-based combat system involving melee and magic-based attacks. There are recurring series features including Chocobos for area travel, and summoned monsters called Eikons, which are both fought as bosses and used through channelling their power in combat.
Final Fantasy XVI is set in the twin continents of Valisthea, currently divided between six nations who hold power through access to magical Crystals and Dominants, humans who act as hosts for each nation's Eikon. Tensions between the nations escalate as a magical drought dubbed the Blight begins consuming the land. Clive Rosfield, guardian to his younger brother Joshua, witnesses his kingdom destroyed and becomes involved in the growing conflict between Valisthea's nations and a secret power driving the war.
In the Rising Tide DLC, an unmarked letter arrives at the hideaway containing a request most curious: the Dominant of Leviathan, long lost Eikon of Water, is in need of rescue. To heed this call, Clive and his companions must journey to Mysidia-a hidden land under a blue sky-where they will uncover the tragic history of a forgotten people.

Leviathan gave more trouble than any other boss in the game.
Same here. I never died multiple times on this game until this dlc, it’s annoyingly challenging
@@darenpaulpanganiban8743they should at least give us a new set of healing after each phase or not make the damage dealt to it go down by half pixels per attack.
And was by far the least amount of fun. The Ifrit Eikon is unbelievably slow compared to Leviathan and shows how much Ifrit lacks mobility
Yeah fuck this game
@Joniyah444 Yeah, my thoughts exactly. I'm not going through all that. That's a thirty minute or plus battle.
Too challenging and difficult for me even if I am playing on Story mode :(((
Yea no idea why they made it challenging on story mode, bad programming, shouldev been more easier
I gave up on stage three. Loved this game up until this point.
Yeah, the difficulty is unfair. The tornado at 23 minutes is unavoidable. I spammed the wildfire dash as fast as I could, and still got caught in it. And if you're in hard mode, it's an insta-kill. So I gave up
It’s not unavoidable just go either straight left and keep doing wildfire into dodge
@@awildtenshi367 I finally beat her. I tried EVERY direction until ONLY going backwards and right worked. That's it. I tried straight right, straight left, forward left, forward right, backwards left, backwards. Nothing. Until I tried backwards and right. Fucking ridiculous.
@@awildtenshi367 tried it
@@MattsFTRTheMisanthropist tried it
Came here to se how to dodge the waterspout, the guy gets caught by waterspout 🤡
I actually did manage to avoid that water spout by holding dash and aiming to the back right behind Ifrit. I died at the last second in that last phase but the advise about just racing to the edge helped me avoid that volley
They made this fight a savage raid good lord
The fight was stupid, because the final DPS check is the worse. No matter what I do I never do enough DMG
I was able to avoid the Waterspout by using Wildfire to move quickly away from the waterspout. It tracks towards you at first, but you can avoid it.
Thanks for posting this video! It helped me with Phase 3 after 10 times trying to beat it haha!
So I dodged the giant tornado by rushing to the left and not heading back at all, It looks like it follows you and moving away from him just gives it more time to turn.
Waterspout can be sort of kited around by going back and towards the side, and then once you're clear of it (so that you can see leviathan behind it), foward toward leviathan. Dodging after your dash move might mitigate some of the endlag the dash has, but I'm not sure about that.
The biggest issue I had was that first "press the attack" and the consequent tsunami game over. It seems to me the countdown doesnt start until after it blows you back a third time, and it reaches a certain hp threshold. What worked for me (on normal "action-focused" difficulty) was to not launch the fire laser move after the second time Im knocked away (i saw muktiple failures launching it just before being knocked away the third time, because it made the countdown start when I was VERY far away), and when you're attacking the shield, focus on moves that deal stagger damage (namely, a short melee combo with a magic->magic finisher, since the ifrit moveset has has that explosion finisher that launches you into the air.) You can follow this up with the same thing in midair. If anyone has a better method, I'd like to know, because what I did only barely worked, and I doubt it would work at all on a higher difficulty.
Leviathan is the boss fight they finally realized that they’ve made Eikon fights too easy
Easy to Avoid Waterspout if you wildfire to the bottom and right of the screen then once you hit the edge keep going right until you see the Leviathan
I tried running down and slightly left immediately and that worked. Then I somehow managed to avoid all the combined attacks onslaught for zero damage. Just defeated him on final fantasy mode but that was the hardest boss of the game without a doubt. I’m actually shaking. Thanks for the help man!
The fight was pure BS, I just didn't like it. You never have def or hp like the bosses. They can whatever they want but you always do chip damage.
How the heck do you beat this without him using that game ending attack. Reminds me of ffx one of the last few final boss battles also had a time limit. About to rage quit ff16
Switch to Story Mode
@@sincerelygideon it was on story mode but still challenging
Didn’t realize how bad I was at this game till this fight😂
I got so annoyed at this boss that I ended up throwing the controller at the tv and broke the damn thing
what's the move with the charge-up bar thing? i can't figure out how people are doing that and i feel like it's crucial there.
Are you talking about R2 and square?

I beat the shield on my second try. But I decided to redo this for For giggles And now I can't get past the shield part. How did I do it the first time. I don't understand
No clue what mode this is on but I am at 110 cap and do no where near this damage same moves ...
ive never felt this kind of despair but i did it
trying to dodge the water barrage waste to much time use wildfire
to dodge the ring attack jump and wildfire backwards
the tornado wildfire dodge withe right timing repeat
Does anyone try to defeat Leviathan in normal mode, not in FF mode? I’m stuck…
Stuck on shield phase …going to give up it’s my 20th try
I couldn't beat that shield thing. I kept running out of time with that count down. U automatically lose if u don't beat it before that. Not just some high damage attack. I'll try an easier mode or try leveling up a bit more
The method I found is to fire spitflare right off the bat, then rush in and spam your combos and abilities (when they're available), while dodging the projectiles and pillars. I finished that section with 3 seconds left on FF mode that way
Let me tell you this this is the hardest boss in the whole game right after omega weapon. My god Leviathan is no joke at all and it took me over an hour to kill him. I never gave up and kept trying. I died so many time and lost count after words.
The only boss im struggling to get the medal of valor
this snek gave me PTSD.. I don't wanna fight him anymore 😢
I just beat him. One of the worst boss designs I’ve ever encountered. Up there with Bed of Chaos from Dark Souls.
Dude I only beat phase two with like 0.5 seconds left
But there is no time limit until the phase 3. And how are you going to even begin to estimate how much time you have left? There is no clock
still failing in stage 3
Has anyone even beaten this fucking boss? No joke I already died 25 times and feel like I just don't do enough damage even being at level 96....like this entire boss fight just feel like it's might for you to fail
The water shield phase is cheap design.
U should try on hard mode lol
Fuck this game
Hardest boss by far
I don't have one power You show. Wrong guide
I'm a veteran and this fight is ridiculous...is stupid. Do better squere
This is a trash boss, no wonder game flopped
didn't know successful games are flopping
Neither trash nor unsuccessful. But your opinion is your own so feel free to think whatever you wish.
