Very nicely done. I really enjoyed the history lesson from someone who enjoys and knows the location. Would have liked to see some r/c launches or landings. All the aircraft shown were military craft?
So would I, but on that particular day, the wind was very slight, as the windsock above the R/C frequency pin board showed (and the AMA video crew might only have had that day available to do the shooting). The few people who were there, with their model sailplanes, seemed to be waiting for the wind to pick up. Had one of them had a motorglider, they could have shown it taking off and flying, but from what I've seen in other videos, few if any R/C motorgliders seem to be flown at Torrey Pines.
I use to Soar at Torry pines when I was a teenager/ with my Dad who was the President of the club/ I have tons for movies/ video on Veoh . 1957 to 1969 etc. v389607nW2ARMde we took movies from a carmera mounted on the wing controled from the back seat by me.
+Elaine Mosley wow.. sounds awesome. Please consider donating the video to the National Model Aviation Museum www.modelaircraft.org/museum/donations.aspx
He was going to get back to the history of the hang gliders at Torrey. Some how he didn't get it on the video. But interesting stuff for sure. I was looking for information on Bob Wills and Dave Kilborn. Kilborn was the first one to run off a hill with a kite.
I've flown there many times with my rc sailplanes, great site!
Thanks for the review!! Enjoyed it.
I enjoyed it as well, hopefully someday I will go there, haven't done much slope soaring lately but I sure enjoy it.
