  • Hi friends, this video is about my current favourite kitchen gadget the Morphy Richards Compact soup maker.
I do a quick review and try out a Curried Apple and Parsnip soup - recipe below!
I got mine from Amazon and will link it here (not an affiliate link just a share!)
    www.amazon.co.uk/Morphy-Richa...
Recipe here too for the soup:
    Curried Apple and Parsnip Soup
    INGREDIENTS:
    2 medium parsnips
    1 medium cooking apple
    1 small onion
1 piece of cauliflower (around the same size as the apple)
1 stock cube (vegetable or chicken, I used chicken)
500 ml of water (if using the soup maker, I'd use extra for the stove top)
1 teaspoon curry powder of your preference
    1/2 teaspoon garam masala
    Salt and pepper
    Parsley to garnish
    METHOD (soup maker):
    1. Peel and roughly chop all the vegetables.
    2. Place into the soup maker jug - this should fill between the min and max lines marked.
    3. Add the spices and the stock cube.
    4. Pour on the water to the max line, and place the lid securely onto the jug. You might need to jiggle it a little to get the blender down through the vegetables.
    5. Set to SMOOTH mode.
    6. Serve 19 minutes later and enjoy!
    METHOD (stove top):
    1. Peel and chop all the vegetables.
    2. Place them into a large saucepan, add the spices, stock cubes and water.
    3. Bring to the boil and cover with a lid.
    4. Reduce to a simmer for around 30-35 minutes until all the vegetables are cooked through and soft.
    5. Blend the soup to the desired consistency with a stick blender or transfer to a blender.
    6. Serve and enjoy!
I had mine with a toasted sandwich made on sourdough with mustard, cheese, smoked ham, tomato and onion.

I love my soupmaker and have found it just as useful in summer. Today I made Gazpacho using the blender function, really refreshing on a hot day like today! Last week I made Vichyssoise, not as straightforward as the Gazpacho as you have to sweat the onions and leeks in a pan, unless you've got the saute function and then you have to cool it before serving but very delicious with a swirl of cream and some chopped chives!

Was deciding what soup maker to get and stumbled upon this video and I am convinced. I live alone and so however fancy the other ones are, it doesnt make much sense. Gonna pick one up from Powercity tomorrow!! Thanks

Honestly soup and smoothies are my favourite ways to get fruit and veg in, it's almost too easy. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to buy me a soupmaker!!! It's raining where I am today as well which is just very soup weather in my opinion.

Thanks for this! You’ve just convinced me to get it to save on food wastage... I’ve got a large 6L instant pot, but don’t want to use that for small amounts. Off to Amazon now... :)

      Did you purchassed it?

      @Shelsight Před 2 lety

@@dianahaus1456 I did! About a week after seeing the video. Used it yesterday. I probably use it once or twice a week with various leftover veg, herbs, a bit of stock... its definitely stopped me wasting food & there are some great recipes online. I didn’t buy it on Amazon though in the end. I bought mine on a local sales site called Gumtree as a few people are selling them quite cheap but the units are almost new, and most will post them to you. Def worth it ;)

My one doesn't have the sautée function, but I think the newer version does! Yes, I tried a smoothie and it was awesome! Had no issues with frozen bananas! x

❤ thanks for the review. Stupid question - How much soup output do you get from this 1 litre soup maker? Is it 1 litre or less because water evaporates during cooking?
