Den knew he had lost Sharon and Vicky and did everything he could to keep hold of Dennis to start with but then his fatherly love turned to sick revenge when he realised how much he missed Sharon. Towards the end he was severely mentally disturbed and unbalanced.
I don't think he was trying to hold on to Dennis because he lost Vicky and Sharon, more that he was trying to keep Dennis away from Sharon because he hated Dennis and Sharon being in a relationship. He never really showed much affection for Dennis and tried cut him off from the family a few times when it suited him. He only really cared about Sharon. So much so that many people in the audience called it 'twisted' and 'creepy'
Dennis did not cheat on someone related to Zoe. Big difference. Zoe banged Dennis’s dad and was going to pass of the child as Dennis’s. That is disgusting and twisted
This would never of worked out anyway it was a ridiculous plan.... even if zoe did managed to get dennis to sleep with her it still wouldnt of worked as she should of already been about 6 weeks pregnant... she would of been well overdue and dennis would of found out even at the first ultrasound and check ups as the doctor would mention when the baby is due and when it was conceived..... it was ridiculous to think she would of gotten away with that
miss seeing den behind the bar of the vic but he turned bad before he was killed off a shame cause there was good in him Den was destroyed by Leslie and his charagter being axed in 2005 a shame cause now we have the boring carters behind the bar
Leslie didn't destroy the character of Den, that was the writers. Actors rarely get a say in in the actions or character development of the characters they play.

So he probably has the ability to add his 2 cents and be listened to a lot more than most other actors who have less "senority". As a general rule, actors don't get much say in other aspects, such as the script, unless they are also a producer.
