new fan here lads. Gutted for Tom- I'm in the same boat as him- all my mates have now caught barbel and i'm the very last! Chub after (sometimes decent sized) chub, but no golden bar of streamlined power yet!
I'm *sure* you'll get it this autumn, especially if you make 2 or 3 more trips out. Really hope you've got the schedule to just hammer away for barbel to nab one before its back to pike and perch on the lures exclusively pretty much.
I havent really got the time to get out to a known barbel spot on some lovely fast flowing water near me- I'm sure I'll cotton on with the boys and be jonny big bollocks again once we're on even terms (Absolute BRAGGING rights if mine is even 1lb bigger!) heheh jk, it's all in good fun- barbel of any size look like such wonderful fish. There's always TOM-ORROW! All this blanking make's the catches even more exciting. Why not try my all time favourite bait! 1. Cut Luncheon meat into desirable cube's. 2. Dry fry them for a few mins to get the juices flowing. 3. Pour the fried cube's into a ziplock bag and coat them in BANANA CUSTARD powder and leave them alone for a few days. 4. They should be as sticky a feck but still solid enough for the hair rig.
If there's Barbel, Carp or Big Chub in the swim they will have it, show em how the men fish... Good luck Tom ya deserve a mahoosive Barbel mate👍😷👍
