- IRIS is a unique electric guitar with an interchangeable outer hand carved "ribbon". This outer ribbon can be changed out for others (once I build more) for a different look or the core can be played by itself as a compact travel guitar.
My apologies to those who watched the first video and were expecting more detailed episodes of the build . . . I ran out of time to do them before the GGBO deadline
An actually unique guitar in our time! You don't see that every day 🤘🤘
Thanks! It is fun to experiment with new ideas.
Amazing design and execution. Love that you have used the natural contrasts in wood colour.
Thank you so much, Arran! Love your Middle Earth Guitar
A lot of times I think newer body shapes are strange.. But man. .Really love how that guitar looks. Beautiful job.
Thank you, Peter. Perhaps it helps that the 2D silhouette is pretty close to a standard telecaster shape
Now that's an original guitar.. Pure work of art partna.. I had to subscribe, man that's a pretty guitar
Glad you like it. Thanks for the sub!
Proof that the sun doesn't rise and set with Fender or Gibson... beautiful work.
Thanks, Gary! I have great respect for those two industry giants, but there are many small builders out there producing unique instruments.
The Ribbon design: genius. The racing stripe look: stunning. The interchangeability is just outstanding. The most original guitar design I've ever seen. Truly remarkable. If I have a vote, You've got it!
I'm glad you like it and I appreciate the support!
wow sir, i dont have 45 min to watch whole thing at the moment but you can be assured that i will be back to see everry second of this thing. kudos sir. running at the front of the pack for my vote.
Glad you like it, Chris. I appreciate the commitment.
beautiful...love the different look...and, of course, the sound
Thanks, Charlie!
This is so interesting and unique, I really like it, great work!
Thank you, Daniel! That means a lot coming from a maker of many interesting and unique guitars.
@@jrsguitars Cheers. That's very kind.
Thank you masterful work . Very enjoyable sounds 1st class nice playing. Just Beautiful. TXS.
Thank you for the compliments! I can't take credit for the playing, I had to conscript someone else to do that. I can't play at all.
what an amazingt build! The different woods, the design, the craftsmanship! Just wow
Thank you, Ironymus!
This is probably one of the cooles looking guitars in this competition! A true work of art
Thank you, Toni!
Absolutely unreal carves! Love this one

Thank you very much!
Stunning!

Last year o bought a scroll saw after watching your video and this year you might be the overall winner.
Thanks a second time, lol
thats a nice build, the wood combos are insane, sounds great and has a nice name that i can get behind xD also love the flower inlay on the body!
Thanks, Matej! You have great taste in names, lol
That is an amazing design, truly one of a kind. Excellent work!
Thanks, Mr. Squid!
WoW nice and unique. I really enjoyed the music also great choice and not so loud you get a headache. Gr8 job
Thanks, Jason. Glad you liked the guitar and the music.
Congratulations on the 3rd place. What an amazing build!
Thank you much!
Fantastic. Love the headstock shape and tuner location.
Thanks! I think you are the first to comment on the headstock. It took a couple of tries to get something I liked.
Really nice! Very original! And beautifully made. Congratulations, all the best in the competition. Cheers Dave
Thanks, Dave!
Said ages ago now (or so it seems) i really liked how the outside flows
l like how it makes it look how it flows round the inside part of the guitar aswell and how it made the grain look after carving.
Definitely a lovely looking guitar there mate, very sleek 👍
Thanks again, Rab!
JR' you are a genius !!!!
Not sure I qualify as genius, but thanks!
beautiful dude
Thank you, Chef!
Extraordinary!
Thank you, Christopher!
Should have been first place. You have made a marketable guitar. Well done.
I appreciate that, Mike. That said, I don't have any issues with finishing behind Arran and Mark. Both made really cool instruments
That is one sweet looking instrument.
Thanks, bearded one!
Very nice Sir I applaud you .
Thank you, Roger!
I'm trying to imagine how you even came up with this beautiful design!😳🎸😳🎸😳
Thank you! My original idea was to design a guitar body out of one continuous steam bent piece of wood, but that evolved into something completely different after lots of sketching and erasing. The bends on the final design of the outer ribbon were too tight to actually steam bend, so I ended up carving it.
Really cool guitar Dude.
Thank you, WD!
My vote for first place all the way a true unique beautiful masterpiece
Thank you so much, David!
Great design bro
Thank you, Juan!
Its beautiful and genius!!!many compliments from Gerasimos handmade guitars
Thank you, Gerasimos. Much appreciated coming from a talented luthier such as yourself.
Last year I bought a scroll saw after watching your video and this year you might be the overall winner.
Thanks! I overwork my poor scroll saw because I haven't got a band saw.
This might be my favorite build this year. Awesome nonetheless.
Thank you, Scott. I'm a big fan of your work.
i say that about all of them.
There are a lot of good ones
Nice build! This one is going to make me late for work 😂
Thanks! Don't get yourself in trouble, it will still be here when your shift is over, LOL
WOW...nice 3D depth
Much appreciated
nice!
Thanks!
thats smokin
Thanks, DTD!
Thats pretty sick! ( in a good way)
Thanks, Jeff!
love your design...mind if I borrow it?
Seriously... splendid handiwork!
Well, now that depends. If you are Fender or Gibson, I'd request that you pay for the rights to my intellectual property, LOL. If you are just building in your garage like me, go for it! Thanks!
WOW. Just WOW! Hope you PAF'ed that design. BTW 3rd Place? Was 1st made from genuine Moon rock with 2nd forged from genuine Unicorn horn coated in fairy dust?👍
Love the feedback, thanks!
Hubba hubba. (and that seductive music)
Thank you!
Amazing!
Love it!
Looking at the saddles it appears that the bridge is too far back?
Leaving little intonation adjustment, am I right?
Thank you! I got it intonated and there is still a little room left, so hopefully won't be an issue.
@@jrsguitars Yeah, it sounded great but I could see how far forward those saddles are. Great job!
Don't forget the shielding.
Good point
Cool concept and great work . is that sepele in the middle stripe ?
Thank you. The single thin center strip is redheart. On either side of that is a thin strip of maple. Outside of that are two wider strips of rosewood.
@@jrsguitars absolutely beautiful . non wood workers don't realize how much that will stabilize the wood . that one will out live us . really impressive
I dig the design but why didn’t you go ahead & go for 24 frets? That little deeper cut would be sick for that extra range but it’s not there lol, otherwise this seems really cool
Thanks. That would have worked, but I didn't think of it. Probably because I can barely play cowboy chords, lol
@@jrsguitars fair enough, if you get a commission for one of these tho I absolutely wouldn’t be surprised if it was from some shred-y guitarist
Beautiful work! However the “outer” body sculpture part.. seems like an unnecessary embellishment. And frankly a weighty one. Id rather like to have seen it fully integrated in to the body superstructure as it were. Again .,very nice.
Thanks! Unnecessary for function? Probably so. Integral to the aesthetic I was going for, though. The overall weight of the guitar is 7-3/4 lb.
for sale how mach
This one is a prototype and is not for sale, but I would be happy to build you one. Email me at jeff_pierce@att.net if interested.
What a sweety 😍
Glad you like it!
Gonna b hard to beat that.
Thanks!
