- Another video in my series on takedowns that lead directly to fight ending submissions. I got a few questions about how to do this one: Russian two on one (aka: Russian tie up) to a sacrifice throw with a butterfly hook, to a Bulldog choke.
Here’s an old video I made on the details of the Bulldog choke (and the important differences between a Bulldog choke and a side headlock) • Why did Jourdan let g...

I am 67yrs old and have been training since I was 15. Wing Chun , TKD and Shotokan in depth over my 50 plus years in the dojo and a couple of years boxing in my younger days.I have to thank Mr Dewey for taking the time to post his lessons online for all of us to learn for free as I remember a time when learning martial arts, especially Chinese ones, was a very expensive thing for working-class people like myself. I always come away from watching him teach feeling that I have learned something new!
So very true!
To be honest I don't normally learn anything when I tune in to your videos, not because you don't give good advise, but because I'm a pretty seasoned martial artist with seven years experience as a cafe fighter in the early 00s and a purple belt out of Pedigo's submission fighting, I find that I typically tune in to support you and agree with you assessments, but in this case I found a pattern of movements I absolutely love and plan to practice.
Cool.
I did my first lifting session today, I can't feel my shoulders, arms and thighs.
The EXTREME keeps getting extremely more extreme every time I think about its extreme intensity, and I mean that with extreme sincerity, sir.
alot of great information from u my brotha all the time ......i injoy watchin u show martial arts
hi Ramsey, could you possibly do some videos with some basic techniques, drills or even games to practise in order to make your first steps into wrestling or grappling on general?
Even without a skilled opponent,so something basic maybe.
Thanks in advance have a great day.

@@RamseyDewey First of all thanks for the quick answer, but I should have mentioned I already done this step(for which I'm very Thankful to you).
I'm struggling to find easy clinch fighting/wrestling basic training,I insist on basic because I'm being helped by my girlfriend, she can fight while standing but she doesn't know anything of this stuff nor she's interested so I can't start throwing her around.
I’ve got more drills. Maybe I’ll make more videos about them.
@@RamseyDewey thank you again,I really enjoy your videos
As usual, quality viewing. Cheers brother. (Started training in sambo and BJJ now.)
Ramsey you are great!
Im a big fan of chicken-wing holds and variants. Good stuff!
God bless you and yours brother!
As am I, good sir.
This is cool!
Awesome.
Imma try that in my BJJ class next time haha
GET OUT THERE AND TRAIN!! YA GOT THIS
I fear not the man that does it one time but I fear the man that does it a thousand times
That’s about the right number of reps to get the feel for this Russian tie up variation. It’s a fairly complex set of hand fighting motions. A lot of people shy away from it because it takes a lot of reps to get it right- usually about 10 minutes a day for a month- and then it becomes automatic.
@@luisclaudio4622 I think that is more like I do not fear the man who trains in a thousand different techniques but do fear the man who trains one technique a thousand times.
We were just working on bulldog chokes last night how funny
Wow! Round 2! I absolutely love these!
❤️👏👏 thank you 😀
There's a Russian twist to Armbar I've seen, but I think it only works in a gi.
But ...I'm still a baby white-belt
epic 😎
He he that bear in front of Ramsey´s T-shirt will someday earn him the nickname Grizzly-Dewey.... ;)
I like this version of russian 2 on 1. People put so much emphasis on the straight russian tie but i can't make it work for some reason, there are so many better options so i ended up did some of these techniques with the kimura grip instead
Yeah, if you watch the way most wrestlers use the Russian two on one, they’re never fighting for a straight armbar, instead, they use it as a slide by transition to a leg or to the back without putting any stock into trying to control the arm beyond clearing the collar tie.
I need more arms
That would be useful
87th view, pretty cool
Hello Ramsey. My neighbours are interested in grappling but we do not have mats. Do you have any other fun games like the "touching toes" one, that can be done while waiting for gyms to reopen ?
I legit thought that was john danaher in the thumbnail
Super Mormon suffocates DIY John Danaher
I’m sure Max will appreciate being compared to John Danaher.
Hey Ramsey can you talk about heart/passion for the sport? Theres this one local boxer where Im from and she has had 1 win-5 losses already but shes still able to garner the respect of her peers + coaches because shes hardworking + has good work ethics. I consider her a rarity and would love to hear about your take on boxers and martial artists like her
You might appreciate this:

Good'ol Yoko Guruma strikes again. Just that, on its own, if you have enough energy behind it would hurt a bunch. I think it's clever how you're holding on since otherwise you'd throw them away from you and render the submission impossible. It's one of those things that would be obvious in Judo but no-gi it requires a bunch more thought on preparation so you don't just throw the opponent with no control.
interesting..i used to attempt to show my wife all sorts of techniques from various points in history...i figured if she could use them effectively on me at all then they might be worth investigating.

Hey ramsey
What do you think about the narrative of mma fighters can't box
I find it interesting cuz people like jake paul with just 3 years of boxing beats up mma fighters like ben askren, Mike Perry (in sparring).
And now he is boxing Woodley and I don't see Tyron winning this one.
Some can, some can’t. It’s a silly narrative. There’s a long list of MMA fighters who are also pro boxers.
@@RamseyDewey how good is Tyron Woodleys boxing
Do you think he can beat jake paul?
He punches have power and speed but not a boxer type
I’ve never seen Tyron Woolley box. And I haven’t seen Jake Paul box enough to know how good of a boxer he is. I don’t know.
Every MMA fighters have different background to have their gameplan revolve around that back ground. Wrestler, BJJ, Judo guys when transition to MMA will always find their way to win through submission or ground n pound. And there are boxers who transition to MMA revolve their game plan on stand up boxing. Saying MMA fighters cant box is like something came from people who don't understand the sport of MMA
Ramsey is the big brother I wish I had
Yoko Guruma, not my fave for sacrifice techniques.
@UCK9dGUA8o9ttqJ2U-srNNuA This is Yoko Guruma. Sumi Gaeshi your feet at inner thigh. This is a sacrifice while blocking the feet of the uke using 1 legs.
@@m5a1stuart83 yoko guruma don't envolve aply hook's in Uke's leg. czcams.com/video/MehP6I5cY2c/video.html czcams.com/video/OXktNr3ApaA/video.html
It’s an anterior drop sweep with a butterfly hook on the far side leg to accelerate the rotation. If I’m not mistaken Yokoyama Guruma is more like a suplex from the side- a lifting action from the hips, rather than a falling motion to drag an opponent down and backwards across an extended leg.
How good is this vs bigger guys I’m 5 foot
That depends on how good your wrestling is.
Make it look easier than riding a bike 🤣
I can't ride a bike >:)
Hey Ramsey Dan the wolfman is legit
He’s also a giant asshole who’s so obsessed with rank that he can’t see past his own bullshit.

And no 2 on 1 isn't low percentage when ur good standing snap or tap or down to ground to tap all works done live grappling many many times and vs knife training w pressure too including vs someone I didn't know at ATT two months ago after nogi a krav guy was telling somoen how to attack him I told guy to just attack me however
Twice finish after driven to ground immediately. Ur saying a mote difficult to get into position grip be4 being countered is higher percentage...how often have you seen Zangief type rolls or grips in high level wrestling? I've only hit it real zangief roll to dwl variation once live slowly done at that ti make sure didn't hurt blue belt fighter student.
Again, not a “zangief roll” (arm spin throw from the front). It’s an anterior drop sweep with one leg behind, and butterfly hook on the far side leg for rotational force.
That being said, I’ve never once seen a wrestler of any level controlled with a Russian tie up to a straight armbar. Even completely untrained people instinctively pull their arms in.
@@RamseyDewey DanTheWolfman is right. You are also not doing the right grips for that to become high percentage. You need the eagle claw grips. Middle finger connects with thumb. You are doing it wrong czcams.com/video/wQP4Vdd-ZJU/video.html
1st Zangief grip Low percentage and loose vs anyone good limp arm and land on top. He had no base either live or demoed where squaring and sinking base or squaring and leg post would stop roll unless done perfectly which was not shown here.
Your percentages might go up if you learn the Russian tie up from actual Russians instead of fictional Street Fighter video game characters.
This is not a “Zangief roll”, which is a glorified arm spin throw: czcams.com/video/Z5M1miUu3mE/video.html

He already did. But I don’t know how seriously I can take the dude’s belts if he can’t tell the difference between rolling forward and sitting backward.
