The Kayn situation:
14.6 Riot takes away Q item iteraction and nerfs SA R bAD scaling from 175% to 150%, Kayn drops from 53% WR to around 49% (Youmuu's build)
14.7 Riot buffs base & red Kayn Q bAD scaling from 80% to 85%. SA is unchanged
14.8 Riot adjusts Void Grubs and they no longer spawn at the same time as Drakes. This is very bad for Kayn.
14.9 Riot nerfs Eclipse & Steraks and buffs Maw & Death's Dance. Overall, a net negative for red Kayn.
14.10 Riot removes lethality from Sudden Impact, nerfs Relentless Hunter, removes Future's Market and makes the 'replacement' the same tier as Magical Footwear. First Strike gets buffed. Riot removes Legend: Tenacity, red Kayn cries in the corner. Blackfire Torch enters the game.
14.11 No meaningful changes (well, you can no longer stack Dirks, but i dont think this did much)
14.12 First Strike gets nerfed.
14.13 Riot changes Dark Harvest, SA builds that use this rune drop 2% win rate (in comparison to 14.12)
Right now neither blue or red have a solid 1 item spike. Red can go eclipse or death's dance, both are just okay but nowhere near as good as 1 item spikes on other bruisers. With SA you either go all in on snowball with Hubris or you just don't get to play the game until 3 items. Generally SA deals 20-30% less damage than any other assassin at all stages of the game.
The conclusion is, Q item removal was really bad for Kayn, but he would be still okay'ish if nothing else changed. These little nerfs throughout the last 4 months is what made him truly unplayable.
I agree, you have to get really ahead and get form at 6-7 minutes to be able to stay ahead and carry the game. 1-2 deaths throws your tempo off so fast its risky. Red Kayn with new Dark Harvest patch is broken right now tho. Look top Tiers, they mostly build HP so Red Kayn's %HP dmg is absolutely brutal rn.
Yeah and honestly red Kayn feels way better than blue. Blue feels like there’s so little impact and snowball sometimes. I find red to work better with the team most of the time
the champ might not be the best, unplayable is a bit too far tho
I do agree that removing the ability for Kayn to buffer Profane Hydra cast was a pretty terrible nerf for his burst damage output, but IMO the kayn community has gone too far by ostacizing this item because of a few people like Karasmai saying it's unplayable since the interaction was removed.
Profane Hydra is still a REALLY good first item on Kayn. It helps your already good clear speed so you become a powerfarming monster, and still does damage and helps you get over the line to either proc dark harvest or execute someone. Yeah having to stand still for half a second sucks while you cast it, but you just have adapt to the playstyle and use your brain instead of just mindlessly pressing q+w+profane all at the same time and deleting people with no interaction. Now the dmaage is desynced a tiny bit and enemies have a chance to react, but it's all still there (and btw hydra cast range is longer than auto attack range, so you can still hit people slightly out of your range or if they're retreating while low.
it works ESPECIALLY well on Rhaast because he likes to be in the fight longer anyway, so he has even more opportunities to cast, even twice a fight potentially.
I didn't want to post this because I feel like profane is super underrated and I don't want Kayn or the item to get hit further, but yeah people are crying too much without even adapting properly.

the worst thing about this item especially when building it 1st is the cost. It's fine to play kayn when you are ahead and snowballing and yeah then you can buy even profane 1st item but when you are behind for blue like youumus into opportunity is cheap and good combo, for red eclipse into cleaver/shojin is aswell cheap and strong.
I see it if you snowballing out of your mind and go for like Hubris into Profane and finish game at 20 minutes but otherwise it's hard to fit and there is not a lot of data in higher elo how item performs because so little people is building it.

I really enjoy this tier list. I usually find tier lists sort of useless, but I really enjoy the shallow dives into reference points/weaknesses/strengths you did.
As an aside, what size of champ pool would you suggest for low/mid MMR players?

Hi I would love a video about kindred. I see a lot of higher elo kindreds play super aggressive and invading, but then the scaling aspect of her seems to counter this notion. Then I hear she is a good ganker but struggle to see a lot of high percentage ganks early. I've heard that farming early instead of over forcing is good and it makes sense because of course getting gold 100% is better than flipping something and getting nothing. I feel like I have a misunderstanding of how to play kindred. If you could do a video on her I would appreciate it.

Funny that Darius isn't even being considered for jungling atm, even though he's probably better atm in the jungle than in the top lane. Really high clear speed and overall damage for skirmishes. And can access to more tools now from the jungle (youumu's rush, blue pet, relentless hunter). Very easy champ to get to diamond atm.

Way too easy to kite. He can’t gank without ghost. If all you want to do is afk and farm camps for 20 minutes cool, he clears camps fast, but that doesn’t help your team. His ganks are garbage.
It’s so weird how graves is just bad kindred like 90% of the time
Kayn feels like one of the junglers who suffers from having no good 1st item spike. Shadow Assassin feels a bit better since lethality items are in a good spot, but rhaast feels like it lost a lot of its power at the same time Goredrinker was removed.
Lillia is so hard to counter or get away with. We almost lose a game if we didn't have a Camille to pin her down and still she had Zhonyas.

would you recommend kindred for some relatively new to jungle (around a month learning right now, I switched to jungle from mid lane)
as someone new I just picked up amumu and he's pretty reliable, I also picked up briar but the other stat checker junglers can work well. Now I'm looking into kha'zix simply because I like his athletic and all

I am a Jarvin Main. you had nothing bad to say about him or why he is not S tier? What is his weakness? My guess is Late game Carry potential is not their. How does his early game clear compare to others. it seems fast to me but im not sure if its just cuz i clear better and kite.

Hard for me to believe that Shyvana is S, I tried her for ~10 games and it felt really hard. I'm used to playing very different champions though, Fiddle is my best
In low elo she's insane. I've played like 10 games and lost only one. The E range, damage and AOE is broken.

Among the S tiers, Shyvana is excellent at sieging. You can help chunk and pressure one lane with R-> E, use W to go to another lane, clear the wave with E, break a turret and inhibitor in 6 seconds, then leave with W. Her ability to break ankles is really underrated.

So. I appreciate the tier list and I know for a fact I can climb relatively easily playing noct/shyv. HOWEVER
I’m a horrible edgy loser who really enjoys sylas jungle and love being able to make plays stealing peoples ults etc but he’s so painfully unrealisable and is absolutely dog shit at farming and somehow even worse on objectives. But I stubbornly want to make him work. Sitting at 50% wr with him but if anything goes wrong in the early game it’s pretty much a guaranteed L if enemy jungler is in any way competent. Any advice for stubborn morons like me to make his sort of play style work?
Hover around lanes that you know will have fights breakout, buy pinkwards to see when jungle will rotate into ur laners so u can be there and counter gank.

as a Kayn main, I really can say that he is weak right now, even have item advantage you just cant soloQ the enemy lee sin with no first item, red kayn was really good when its scale higher ad but now it just scale a lil bit, blue kayn is like sooo weak, if play Kayn for the blue form I will prefer play Nocturne instead, hes so much better

You lowkey shouldnt be waiting for your 6 to do things on the map. Being afk jungling for so long is coin flipping the game
@@larryjesus9035 I actually adapted to that before insane your comment. Lvl4 and gank if possible. With noc I rush to crubs if drake is not a safe bet and I almost every time get them because noc clears them so fast. I picked him up and instantly pushed 3 devisions. So happy

Kayn is weak because Riot has consecutively nerfed every possible strong interaction he can have with items and runes. No more summon aery or first strike. And he’s the only assassin in the game who can’t use profane hydra properly. So now he is just a bot until he gets form 12-15min in the game. And even then, he is not super strong to make up for the weak early game.
Phreak has a personal agenda against the champ... here's 2 examples i remember of him being a total cunt towards why he nerfed Kayn in two patches (guy doesn't even hide it)... Thanks to phreak I dropped Kayn from my champ pool a while back
1) He out of nowhere said rhaast ulti needed nerfs and justified it by saying it was the best scaling ability in the entire game, cherry picking data with bias (Rhaast's ult is shit compared to some of the better ults in the game, like Noct, Ekko, Malph, Qiyana, Seraphine, etc)
2) He out of nowhere said condescendingly that Kayn's Q hydra interaction removal was "non negotiable" out of nowhere with no reasons given (Like why the fuck would you do that? blue was good because of that item alone... they removed the item and removed 25% scaling from his R because he obviously didn't test jack shit and made blue near unplayable ever since.... and why is it non negotiable???? He didn't exploit any huge advantages from it... For example, its way better on fiora proccing vitals, on khazix getting e resets and on the new quinn build nuking as soon as E lands.... Phreak went so out of the way to fuck kayn's hydra interaction over that now Kayn can't ward or use red trinket and all other items during Q, which is a massive gameplay quality of life sabotage)
Hopefully Phreak will get his job changed soon since the balance team is always changed every 2-3 years... and while they're at it, they should fire him too next time they dump a lot of employees, guy is singlehandedly Riot's most hated employee by far (and thats quite an achievment while having ken adams exist) and the game has been in a terrible balance state ever since they started doing huge patches after the removal of mythics)
Nah, can't agree with this one. Red kayn with lethality is still super strong. You can be behind, but the second you get form and first item, you take over the game. Blue kayn is super weak tho, and honestly useless. Red kayn is honestly almost always the better option.
@mykellharris1 kayn's entire niche is his midlate game strength and flexibility. just because his current best build is strong right now doesnt mean that kayn as a whole is a strong champion

The issue with Kayn is his champion design. His mobility polarized him and there is no middle ground. He is either too quick to the jump and needs nerf or he is terribly underwhelming. Riot has spent 200 years designing balancing nightmares... but you will always see the OG box Champs in pro play haha, wonder why...

This is a general ELO tier list. In gold & below it's nearly impossible to carry with her. Higher elos though she's at an absolute minimum B tier.
Rammus is in a similar boat. S-tier counter pick, C tier general pick.

If you’re meaning them and getting a positive win rate in masters or higher then you should feel proud. Winning with them in gold isn’t god tier.

Briar is "braindead"? Are you sure you played Briar enough? I mean, she's got SO MUCH going on skill wise... yes, if you are fed and land an ult, fine, "braindead", but regular Briar behind? You need to excel.
Briar is the definition of braindead, the champ quite literally plays it's self. If you get behind on the champ, it's usually due to a complete misplay on your end, lots of champs cannot do anything from behind.
I bet my life I press more buttons within a minute as Briar than nocturne does. You gotta play around your W, its recast (aa reset) , E and Q. As nocturne you press R, click on adc, gg ez
