Still can’t believe Zoro’s final opponent is a man named Ethan
Ik goes against his minority hunter sensibilities
Pretty sure Mihawk is still going to be his last opponent
Hawk eye mihawk, or Ethan which one is the worlds greatest swordsman?
@@freddylisy10Ethan is technology a minority, being a Celestial Dragon and all. Granted, that group of minorities control the One Piece world but still.....
EthanBaron is his family name, like all the others Gorousei.
you forgot the hidden ability of all wano swords. the power to grow and shrink to compliment their owner's height lol.
still confused about this shit... I understand clothing because if clothes stay the same when a user transform that will be some issues... but when used by not devil fruit users
Each sword is alike a devil fruit…they hold the dreams of its maker lol
My theory is that heights are just a measure of how imposing characters are and it's just a perspective thing
He talked about it in the last video/live stream (can't remember which).
I think it would be cool if the anime portrays the Kitetsu clash as having a resonant tone with each other that rings out loud when struck. They were made by common swordsmith lineage and are so similar in craft that they act like a tuning fork, revealing the signature tone of a Kitetsu blade. This would be enough for Zoro to understand even a magically shape-shifting sword's origin.
There’s always the chance that Sukiyaki’s mom could’ve been a member of the Kitetsu clan and he just decided to take that name when he went into hiding. She could’ve taught him herself or could’ve shown him like the Kitetsu clan sword making scrolls and he learned from them.
Hell!!! They could maybe be engraved on Kokeshi dolls or something by his mom which would explain why he collects them and why there was a bunch in the castle that Brook found.
That or the theory that it’s just a sword making school or guild and the best practitioner gets a variant on the name so it’s the case where Kozukis can become Kitetsu but not all Kitetsus are Kozukis. They might just take to it easier since the clan has history with stone masonry and Poneglyphs.
I like the thought of Momonosuke adopting the Nidai Kitetsu as his second sword. Ame no Habakiri connecting him to Oden and Kinemon, especially with the two sword style, and the Nidai Kitetsu connecting him with Luffy (who wielded it shortly) and Zoro (who helped train Momo in his spare time, but more literally by having another sword in the Kitetsu family)
his sword can't clash with zoro's because they both share a phoenix feather core
I'm dead xD

@@Vibricks Harry Potter reference
I understand that reference!
😂😂😂😂😂
1:50 Actually, I hoped Tenguyama would do that. "Hey, I made the Sandai, I love it, but I am aware of my own shortcomings, that sword is a toothpick to you. Please leave it with me, and take the Nidai, instead. It will fit you much better, and if you can handle Enma and Sandai at the same time, you will have no issues with this one." Would've made perfect sense for Sukiyaki to do it, and it wouldn't feel weird for Zoro like him just discarding it. Yes, he'd be replacing 2 swords at once, but motives fit. He let go of Shusui out of respect for Ryuma's legacy, he could've let go of Sandai out of respect for the smith who forged it
I actually prefer Zoro keeping the Sandai. It's more the concept of taking something that on its face, appears weak, and through time and effort making it stronger. That's something that I think fits in more overall with the Straw Hats.
Plus, it would also make sense for Tenguyama accept Zoro keeping the Sandai. Being a swordmaker himself (and especially having some sort of connection to a legendary lineage of swordmakers like the Kitetsu's), he would certainly know that a sword's grade can improve as it is used by powerful swordsmen and infused with their Haki. No one can refute that Zoro is a powerful swordsman who could make that happen.
Plus, Zoro has never struck me as someone to dismiss or reject something just for being weaker. If anything, I think Zoro would appreciate the challenge.
Ethan: "You face me with an inferior blade? Ridiculous."
Zoro: "Then what will that say about your skill, when I defeat you anyway?"
@@thundercrash4775 That's why I don't see Zoro asking for the trade, but Tenguyama offering would fit. We assume meito grade can be increased by making a blade a kokuto, for example, but that doesn't mean there are swords that are innately superior to others at the moment of being crafted. If that's the deal with the Kitetsus, that their different meito comes from different quality, it would make sense from a sword artisan to not allow a "client" to get a subpar product. That's what we've been told so far, that the Sandai is naturally inferior to the Nidai and Shodai
Oda can still pull the rug from under our feet, though. All three Kitetsus might be equal in quality and the difference in meito grade can come from their age, and those who wielded them through the years (Sandai is definitely a young blade, Tengu made it, it possibly only had the one owner before Zoro, leaving Wano together with Zoro's, Kuina's and Tashigi's grandparents a few decades ago).
BTW, that convo could still happen with Zoro having Nidai
The CZcams Channel "One Piece Explained" pointed out Venus's sword was seemingly reversed, leading to the possibility that his Kitetsu is actually able to be drawn from both the top (the standard ) or the bottom (the tail of the scabbard), his sword had the standard guard and hilt when drawn normally during Chapter 1110,1113,1115, the only time it looks different is this very chapter (Chapter 1117) where the guard is missing and the hilt is bare wood (same as his scabbard), which could mean he drawn the sword from the bottom of the scabbard.

Nice video. Although I was half expecting you to get a video out on Father's Day and Barry's father to make a return, but at least Barry is still a vampire so that's cool.
Plot twist: Nusjuro's sword is actually the Reidai Kitetsu

Probably since it revealed after zorro got the sandai

I've got so many questions about the Kitetsu swords.
How do you even make a cursed sword? Do you have to sacrifice a life during the forging process? Make a deal with the devil? How did the Sandai get to Loguetown? How did Tenguyama Hitetsu, who made the Sandai, end up with the Nidai? As I'm pretty sure Ethan is not a swordsmith how did he end up with the Shodai? Was he from Wano? If so how is he a member of the Gorosei?
You embed your soul and emotions, like Vivre cards.
I’m loving the late night uploads
Regarding Zoro swapping Kitetus's:
I don't think Zoro is the type to simply swap out swords just because it's better than his own.
He's had Sandai for 2 + years and I think has a personal relationship with this
sword.
Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Sandai can become somewhat better
than Nidai since it is being using all the time with Haki now, while Nidai
is not being used at all.
Yeah, I agree the zoro "learned to know his swords", and that he strenghtened them over time.
Also luffy would give him hell since he claims ownership of the nidai.
Nidai will always be the superior blade even when both become black blades. You are right though. Zoro has a relationship with the sword.
@@GabsevenhundredthousandLuffy would not care whatsoever.
@@davidortiz3094Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think we’ve ever been told that Nidai is just inherently better than Sandai. It has a higher ranking yes, but I would assume (perhaps incorrectly) that the ranking takes account of reputation and achievements. Nidai has possibly had centuries to gain such reputation whereas Sandai is likely only a few decades old, and Zoro may be its first true wielder.
@Khanine1 It is a higher grade blade. Same grade as Enma & Wado. So yes. It is a higher rank sword. If both became a black blade, Nidai will still be a higher rank blade.
Imagine Momo gets pulled aside by Sukiyaki, gets taught to be a swordsmith and introduces a fourth kitetsu blade 😂
This video came out 4 hours ago. I was watching this 4 hours ago at 1 am. Didn’t realize it had just came out as I was waking up for the day
I never knew Zoro's sandai kitetsu III was so beautiful until i saw mini katana replica in real life. I can see why Zoro didn't replace it in Wano now
I don't think there really needs to be a particular connection between Ethan specifically and Kitetsu, to be honest.
Maybe he is or killed the original Kitetsu, but it's just as plausible in my mind for the Shoudai to have been wielded by a samurai of Wano who lost in battle during the Void Century. His sword was taken as a trophy and passed down by Imu or through the line of the Gorosei. Or he could be a traitor to Wano himself and this is his legacy.
It’s not about the quality of the sword, it’s about the making friends with your swords along the way.
regarding the kanji for Kitetsu, Kotetsu, and Hitetsu,, I don’t know japanese or kanji but I actually think the translation of “striker” that you said might make more sense for the second kanji instead of piercer. cuz to make/forge a sword you “strike” the metal, and we know of the reputation and curse behind the kitetsu blades, so it stands to reason that he would be called “Demon Striker” because he is a demon that strikes the anvil, rather than a “demon piercer” that sounds more like they kill demons or are the one that uses the sword itself, instead of the forger. especially since maybe all of the names could be chosen or given names or epithets rather than their legal names
and that too makes sense for the other creators, they are ___ striker, cuz they strike the anvil,, like saying ___ blacksmith or forger or smith in general
I was hoping Zoro would have gotten the Nidai when he had to return Shusui instead of Enma.
He could probably get it in the future because the author said he will eventually wield more than 3, he will have 4 or 5 ⚔️ Swords
@@CT_20243what? When?
@@CT_20243Cap
Since the Kozuki family sword style is the 2-sword style, perhaps that means the Nidai Kitetsu will end up as his second sword at some point? That would make for a neat reference later on if we saw him wearing it in a cover story.
Kitetsu [鬼徹] can be translated to Demon Piercer.
What if the Kitetsu swords has a special ability that can hurt Demons, maybe they're immune to other attacks, but not from Kitetsu.
that would be awesome
Demon Slayer bullshit in my One Piece? No thanks
@@AccelSternritterwhat's wrong with having swords crafted specifically for slaying demons?
You can also read that not as "Demon Piercer: A weapon meant to pierce demons" but as "Demon Piercer: A weapon made for demons to pierce with" considering the gorosei are probably immortal and the one swordsman in the group has the best version of this family of swords it might be that Ethan had (at least the Shodai) purposefully made to be his signature sword and since he is a demon, bam there's your naming scheme.
This is also a good link to mihawk ... Zoro using kitetsu perfect to defeat Dracula/devil mihawk!
Imagine if Ethan's sword ate the Sword Sword Fruit, and now he can change it into different swords.
It would be really cool if, at the end, Zoro made Sandai Kitetsu the strongest Kitetsu with his Haki. Turning it into a Kokuto. That would then justify him not upgrading to Nidai or even Shodai.
Its also a sword that zoro chose and the sword chose zoro.
He will definitely be the first to make one into a black blade.
Maybe tsukiyaki's mother family is the kitetsu that's why he inherited the sowrdsmith art specially he was a single child
Actually cracked up at the intro lmao
Gonna call em the senior stabby swords from now on, and you cannot stop me because its a technically accurate translation
i have a feeling they both went through something to "tame" the sword or "test" the sword, like zoro did at loguetown, i wonder what ethan did to tame his, but i think it would feel weird if zoro just changes his kitestu cause we saw them have a connection at lougetown
Captain William, the bane of the elderly.
When it comes to fighting the elderly always bet on William
william will come back and save the straw hats
something i noticed in the last chapter were the characters eyes popping out of their heads when ethan appears, idk if thats just how oda draws that now or if it implies their powers have something to do with luffy's gear 5, if it does mean the gorosei use some kind of dream/nightmare power it could also explain the changing sword design
one last vid before bed…
No break next week we're cooking now😤
Running theory maybe the stronger will of the user devours the curse of the other when they clash? Transforming the weaker willed blade into a normal sword temporarily.
By this point of time in the story it is somehow confirm now that curse sword could shrunk and enlarge according to the user, oden's enma is clearly larger and it shrunk for zorro then now the elder sword enlarge
The Tekking & the #BRINGBACKBARRYSDAD
You’re on the right track.
I can definitely see Momonosuke Obtaining the Nidai Kitetsu blade so he is able to learn his fathers 2 sword style techniques as a continued “coming of age” development for him as a samurai/shogun of Wano.
Paper throw was clean
You heard it here first: venus' ice slashes are a sword ability and swordsmiths finally get fleshed out for the first time since cursed blades were debunked
I love the William references
It could be a thing similar to demon slayer where they have a clan of swordsmiths that all have tengu masks and Sukiyaki happened to be part of that clan before becoming a Shogun
Right as you said "and next we have..." it cut to a chewy ad and for a sec I thought you had cut to a random dog pic for a gag 😅
My head cannon right now is that Ethan is the direct relative/sibling to Ryuma and him leaving Wano to join the wg was the event where Ryuma slayed the attacking celestial dragons and on his way out Ethan took (at the time) their national treasure and greatest sword they ever made. I think Ryuma's clan was the Shogun family until that event where even tho he was deemed the sword God, his clan passed over leadership to the kozuki to make up for that dishonor. I think the Kozuki's are the original swordsmiths of the Wano royalty and they themselves were chosen to be elevated to the position of Shogun since maybe they were the Smiths that made the Shusui as well on top of being the clan to hold the Kitetsu master titles. This could make more sense considering they were also the clan chosen to carve the poniglyphs seeing as it would take elite skill to etch words into seemingly indestructible megaliths
They don't necessarily have to be related by blood. In real life, the Kabuki stage name of Ichikawa Danjuro has been passed down through generations to people who weren't born with that name. Most were members of the Ichikawa family by blood, but some were adopted into it. They gain the name Ichikawa Danjuro when it's passed onto them from the previous holder of the name upon his retirement.
For sure fun theories, a lot of assumption 1.that Ethan was the first and only owner of that blade and 2. that the blade is really old. It's possible he was, but just as much so that this Kitetsu is not 800 years old. If Zoro's is like 20-40 years, the 1st could be ~200 and/or Ethan came across the sword one day and took it.
Late night Tekking strikes again
Nidai becomes mom's second sword for Oden two sword style
I hope we learn more about cursed blades and black blades soon.
In Japan, I think they often have different name for 'professional' name, kinda similar with pen-name. I noticed when learn about poet and ukiyo-e artist, aside of their own real name, they also use 'professional' name that often in lineage with their teacher's name. It could be Wano's blacksmith lineage also use similar concept.
important thing to note: a shirasaya is not supposed to be a functioning sword, the reason it is made this way with the plain wood is to store a blade for longer periods of time.
you see the fancy painted scabbards and the shark skin wrapped handles tend to trap moisture inside, meaning the blade must be removed from the scabbard and the handle removed from the blade in order to clean the blade and to apply oil regularly. this is why blades that are to be put in storage for prolonged periods of time are put in the plain wood, which can dry out properly and thus needs less maintenance.
I always wanted Sukiyaki to reforge the Sandai into a higher Meito to match the ranks of his others.
How he got the Sandai is such a cool part of his journey and the Sandai is the third Kitetsu Blade so I’m glad he kept it. But it not being the same Meito rank as his others bugs me a bit
Have we considered that maybe he just owns more than one sword?
I think nusjuro is the original shoganate family of wano and sold it out. Kozuki was probably the next most powerful family because they were great craftsman. They made the kietetsu blades and worked with sea prism stone. The people of wano probably looked to the kozuki after the events of the void century.
Great video, really informational
zoro and the gorosei bloke putting a new meaning behind crossing swords
It doesn't matter whether you have 初代 or 三代 of any weapons; what really matters is your skills and how much to take care of your weapons. I've never seen Zoro taking care of his 打刀 correctly
Thank you for a great video guys
It is 4 in the morning😂 but I am still gonna watch it right now
Since Zoro uses Three-Sword Style, I had hoped he would collect all 3 and unlock a Set Bonus or something lol
It's weird that the error came with a panel that referenced the sword itself...
Right when especial atention would be put on the blade. Feels intentional.
Man I wish I was sitting in a corner of the room when you watch the Shifty livestream supposing you have read F&B..would be a mini dream 😂 I’m so sorry
Plot twist! Nusjuro is actually Momonoskuke's grandfather.... on his mother's side. Toki was fleeing from him 800 years ago, which is why she was trying to get back to Wano.
The Kozuki was a well known smith since they were the one who created the Poneglyphs. But I also would like to believe that the Kitetsu bloodline is from Sukiyaki's mother side.
Ethan: this was made in wano

Their is never enough Wano.
@@monkeydturock5632
Hey someone who joined at the beginning of the raid. I missed years of Wano and I have to say. *White Beard face* ENOUGH WANO ❤😂
@@FieldAgent-D Very Well.
I think Oda made too much of Wano.
Not only do the poneglyph come from Wano and were made there, the sea stone is also mined and manufactured there. Why aren't there other places in the world where Seastone exists? Doesn't make any sense unless it's 100% artificial.
Then I wonder why Vegapunk can't make sea stone.
why can't you destroy the poneglyph? what are they made of? where does the language come from? Why does the Shogun of Wano know the language?
Couldn't ships be made out of them? Is Pluton made of the same material and therefore indestructible?
Is it really indestructible or can you cut it or destroy it if you are strong enough?
It also made Robin a little less important because she is no longer the only person in the world who can speak this language and can therefore become a danger.
Wano is already important enough because of Pluton. Probably the most important island of all in OP and the sad thing is, we hardly learned anything about the poneglyph and Seastone and Pluton other than the fact that it is there.
Gandy looks like Zoro lol with no hair 🤣
Since the Kozuki family used to be the stone masons that carved the poneglyphs, is it really hard to believe that some of them were also sword smiths passing the titles down ??
It’s crazy that Zunesha is just demolishing all the ancient artifacts below the sea
When Luffy first held the Nidai, Zoro kept asking to see it. That went nowhere. Good writing would have been Zoro breaking the Sandai fighting 2 yonko and leaving it to rest in Wano with it's creator and getting Nidai as an upgrade. 3 o wazamono swords, BOOM!
I'm disappointed that you mentioned sword and scatter in the same sentence but didn't mention Senbonzakura
It’s been awhile since I’ve watched a tekking video I kinda miss the bedroom lol
@Tekking101 Did you notice that when Ethan draws the Shodai, he has his right hand on the hilt, but when he clashes blades with Zoro, his left hand is holding it? Also, the hilt of the Shodai only changes to match the scabbard (and the guard disappears), which has always looked like a wooden staff.
The beginning skit reeked of that news guy from SpongeBob (this is a compliment of course)
Maybe Sukiyaki disquise was styled after the original Kitetsu. Yokai played a role in the Wano arc it would not be strange if Kitetsu was a Lunarian that was seen as a Yokai in Wano. Ethan could have found out that Kitetsu was just a Lunarian at some point and killed Kitetsu and take his sword.
The only thing weird about Ethan having had the sword the entire time is how would it be a ranked sword like no one‘s gonna just get access to the sword of a gorosei. Even if he made it, the legend of the kitetsu blades would need to be spread somehow.
He has been maturing
I like the idea of Ethan having the ability to change his blade depending on the style he's using the keitetsu is the base form of the blade but it's cursed to be able to become th blade of those who died by it
I have a theory that during and before the void century in the old Wano that’s now submerged underwater; the Kozuki were not the Shogunate family, they weren’t royals.
And that the actual royal family and the shogunate before them were the Ethanbaron dynasty(obviously under a different Japanese sounding name) and Wano at the time was part of the 20 kingdom alliance against the AK and JB.
The Kozuki at the time were craftsmen of different kinds and the finest in the world, they had sword smiths, stonemasons and carpenters and shipwrights etc….,
Kitetsu probably made the shodai for the Ethan Baron shogun of the time who used it in battle against Joy Boy but soon afterwards the Kozuki would become allies of the AK and when the Ethan Baron went to Mariejoa, the Kozuki took over and closed the borders and built the new Wano
14:20 Or the Kitetsu line was Sukiyaki's mother family. He might have been the first swordsmith among the Kozuki, for all we know
“BREAKING NEWS” spot on impression of the news fish from SpongeBob ❤️😊
If kitetsu means demon piercer.
What if they were forged with the ability to kill the gorosei.
And that’s why zoro having one is so important. And part of why Ethan left shortly after the clash where he was so shocked to see a kitetsu.
Since I don’t see any comments about it and it seems like a pervasive point of confusion:
Shirasaya isn’t/aren’t the same thing as a stick sword; It refers to special and often fragile mountings used specifically for storage and/or preservation of the blade. The color is plain (to my understanding) because the wood is left untreated for the purpose of drawing moisture away from the blade.
If wonder if the sword are a parallel to devil fruit powers, but based on haki instead?
Kinda like, first they turn back, and eventually they can awaken/transform/something. This would also imply, that if you could combine awakenings from devil fruits and an awakening sword… it would be godly!
poor Berry. No outro for the brickster
Maybe the “Demon Piercer” was crafted to pierce and kill said demons (The Gorosei). Kotetsu failed, so Ethan took the sword after killing him. Maybe they knew each other, maybe they were even friends, who knows, but I feel he took it from Kotetsu.
It could also be that venus juro originally went against imu with that sword (demon piercer) and lost and was turned into a yokai slave of imu, which could mean that originally all of the gorosei were failed enemies of imu who lost and were then turned into what they are now.
I was pretty upset when Yamato didn't join at the end of Wano, but looking at the current cover page, I feel a lot better about the whole situation. He needed to stay in Wano to bond with the land and the people, for before, he was isolated, not known to anyone. This is like laying foundations. I would not be surprised now if at some point, he leaves Wano, and bring the Nidai Kitetsu for Zoro.
*she
It's crazy I remember when you made the transition from bleach content to one piece, your channel has definitely grown.
The nidai might be in holding for momonosuke when he wants to dual wield like his dad in the final war.
17:25 Plot twist. It's Ethan that shut the boarders of Wano lol
I just wish he swapped swords so he could have been fighting the gorosei with the old man stabber.
It could just be anime logic, or maybe the saya is built from Adamwood or an equivalent, but as I was looking up shirasayas, it's stated a shirasaya shouldn't even be ideal for combat, because the handle can easily break upon impact. So if the switch of design was intentional, and assuming the handle has no anime logic or Adamwood to save them, maybe he switches form situationally? With the shirasaya being his fastest strike because of the lightweight? He likely kept the katana in normal form vs the Pacifista because even if he himself was going ridiculously fast through all the Pacifistas, they're still Kuma clones, and require a little extra punch that the shirasaya form couldn't normally add.
on the topic of Venus I think given his western name of Ethan & middle name of Baron I think Ethan has family from outside of Wano I believe that the other side of his family comes from the Rommel Kingdom where Cavendish was given the nickname of Kamaitachi which could indicate a big diaspora of Wano citizens in that kingdom because Kamaitachi is a Japanese weasel demon and Wano is based off Japan.
If the sword design change was a mistake, that is some major unfortunate timing on the mistake with the swords being up front and centre in the chapter. I personnaly will wait to see if its explained in anyway in the manga or chill and wait for the tankoban version.
