- Here we join Steve Ringer as he is fishes a match at Southfield Reservoir near Doncaster. It's a Feeder King qualifier that he fished in the summer of 2019, and the aim for all competitors in the 60-pegger is to win their 20-peg zone and qualify for the £12,000 final. Southfield is a popular venue with match anglers because you just never know where the weights are going to come from, but it's also been proving a tough nut to crack for Steve. In this 85 minute video you can follow Steve and see his approach and how he thinks and reacts under the pressure of fishing a match.

Its a hard bugger at times is Southfield.. I do catch a fair few after twitching my feeder there though .. noticed you didnt try that ... Worth a go definitely
I'm just looking at getting back into fishing after 10 years or so - i'm not a great fisherman just the odd few times a year for pleasure - I was amazed at your sticking with the same bait at the different distances - I'd of had the maggot or pinkie on way before just to try and get something!

Reminds me of a match back in 2003, I used to live in Holland, fished a match on a huge canal in eindhoven, I'd bagged on simple feeder tactics on pleasure sessions, went along with it for a match, very few bites and very few fish, last hour and a half, decided to fill it in, had a 3-5lbbream a chuck, literally if I had a shovel I couldn't feed enough, I won the match with 23k, most caught in the last hour, I ran out of bait.

That feeder didn't look free running! Have the rules changed ? Although very interesting in parts

Must watched lots of videos from this place. Terrible venue tight pegs. Very few fish. There's plenty of better natural venue's
Whats wrong with this venue ? Why do they compete there when there are not enough fish?
@Maggot Drowner Its whats known as challenging something lacking on modern commercial type venues where people moan they threw 50 to 100lb back no good today!!!!!!! Nice to see there is a demand for proper fishing still.
The bream migrated into the canal to spawn as they do every year. However due to low water levels & work being undertaken on the canal, they have been unable to get back in this year. Pleasure anglers have been catching massive weights of bream from the canal.

There's been some work happening recently on the venue and the levels got dropped. And anyway it's nickname is the moody mistress lol. The place is full of Bream apparently , I think they back off in matches with the heavy tight pegging but that's only my opinion.
