  • At the end of the last century, Britain's railways were still very much in flux. Privitisation had created a new landscpe of train-operaters and franchises running services up and down the country. Shown here in 1999, Glasgow Central station reflects this new and fragmented world with old and new stock in evidence on a bright and sunny morning north of the border.

    Some happy memories here - I spent so many days at end Platform 9 watching the traffic in Glasgow Cen. Also one thing in those days was - whether Class 101 dmu, 303 emu or Mk3 IC stock - they were all comfortable to travel in, unlike today's bus seats! Most SPTE units looked good in the carmine & cream livery.
