    I have an 08 lx which had the ‘ESC off’ light illuminated and improper shifting. I replaced that transfer case motor and that got rid of the light and my transmission now shifts properly, but now my ‘free running air pump’ located in front of the battery gets 12.5v when I turn the key to acc on. Dealership was gunna charge me $750 to check the tccs since it kind of seems like a stuck relay, but they also pulled a code saying that a rear abs sensor is bad.. so anyways I pulled that tccs fuse and I’m gunna clean off the abs sensors and see if I can yank the center console and panels to check the tccs module

    Good work getting some of it working again! I reckon another bash you could get the Lo range sorted too. Failing that, just add a PTO shaft!

      🤣🤣🤣🤣 found out there is both this controller that engages 4x4 and a vacuum pump which also engage the front diff . Confided I asked on a Kia Facebook page it’s basically there for better mpg / noise / reduce wear on the front drives while they are not needed . I’m still not sure if it’s ingenious or stupid

    I think you need to keep the engine running, put it in neutral and let the car wobble slowly forward.

    • @stevenharpervw
      @stevenharpervw  Před rokem

      Yeah I normally put it in reverse to take the pressure off to allow 4x4 to engage

    I have a 2.5 turbo diesel Sorento and I’m having issues passing to 4L, everything else works. Perhaps is the same issue that you have with yours. If you have any thoughts to fix it please let me know. I’ll try doing what’s you just did in the video.
    Thanks mate ! Good video

      I’ve been told but not sure if it works or not .. but try pumping the brakes, because the front diff works off vacuum coming from the brake vacuum servo . Also putting the Kia in reverse and rolling back a little helps it also to engage 4x4

    Would this issue cause 4wd dash light to remain on? Or would low transfer case fluid cause such an issue(dash indicator to remain on)?
    Is your vehicle the same as a 2003 kia sorento LX..(US)?

    • @stevenharpervw
      @stevenharpervw  Před rokem

      Yeah mine is on all the time . Sometimes after 10 minutes of a drive it turns off. But 4x4 and LOW are always on . Basically the motor gets confused which direction to go and just going it to a error mode . I have had to do this a few times over the years to get my 4x4 back working : don’t know why it gets confused

    Hello, I have a problem with a Kia Sorento 2.5crdi 140 hp with a manual transmission, suddenly the two green lights for blocking and 4WD came on and now nothing works from the button and the blocking, I tried with another button and computer for the distribution and relay for the front differential nothing happens, I try the transmission motor through the socket, it works immediately, it engages the front cardan, and this happened when it was driven on the highway without turning on from the button, the lights came on and since then nothing works, but before everything worked, if anyone can help me i would be very grateful.

      Same thing happens me. I had to reset the motor in the video . To engage 4x4 [sometimes !!!!]. It helps to push the brake peddle and rock the car in reverse

    • @stevenharpervw

      Where her feet sit. At the side there is a fuse box . Check all fuses. And check the plug is making a good connection on the accelerator pedal wire
