Prices on eBay for stamps and coins for that matter, are EXTREMELY unrealistic . That is for those who know nothing about the true value of stamps or coins. Even the catalogue prices are exaggerated. If the Scott book says it's worth $100, start an auction at $5 or $10 bucks. Stay away from most all listings that have the word RARE in the description. 😁

The Thomas Jefferson 3 cent purple stamp you may need to amend the value of that there’s been a couple sales recently for $3000 on may 26th $500 on may 28th and $4000 on June 6th there were some other high prices paid but as they were “best offer accepted there no real way to tell the final price of those. The other three mention were all sold on eBay for those prices. Crazy I have one and it’s from 1931 which is the first year they were made. I was able to determine that year based on the postmark date on the envelope it is attached to. I’m hoping mine might fetch as high a price as those others. Not sure what makes those particular ones so valuable as I’ve seen other ones sell for much much less… if anyone has any insight please let’s hear it…
