- "El Barco Prometido" es un documental biligüe que sigue el rastro oral del a Black Star Line, una aventura naviera impulsada por Marcus Garvey, líder del primer movimiento negro de masas del siglo XX y fundador de una línea de vapores destinada a cruzar el Atlántico en busca de un continente extraviado.

"El Barco Prometido (The Promised Ship)" is a bilingual documentary that follows the oral history of the Black Star Line, a maritime venture undertaken by Marcus Garvey, the leader of the first massive Black power movement of the 20th Century. The Black
Star Line was a steamship line intended to bring Black people across the Atlantic in search for their lost homelands.

total y absolutamente de acuerdo.... pero eso lo hable hace una semana con un profesor de sociales y el ministerio practicamente te dice que tenes que dar en clase y punto... no te permiten dar clases magistrales de temas no incluidos en los programas.... demasiado triste la verdad

Respectfully, this video is not important only to the black community, it is very important to anyone that in one way or another is connected to it, such as myself.
I’m not black, but I’m a “panaboy” which is how I was refer to as a child by the black community in my beautiful Limon, which is where I grew up, eating good food, riding on “carretillos”, went to school to, danced on the streets on the “carnavales” and visited many times the Black Star Line building. I can proudly and respectfully say, that within my being and in my mind, I feel black, I’m limonense, I’m part of that rich culture and I will be until the day I die. Many of the people seeing on the video, I remember them as a child, I remember their names, where they lived, work or what they did for a living, even some of the buildings that are no longer there such as “La Northern” which we use to play “bola” on their yard and played on the trains…Once again, thank you so much for such a beautiful, priceless video, it certainly touched my heart.

que no dan en las escuelas de costa rica. y es parte de nuestra mezcla de culturas... excelente documental
