Predator is a 1987 American science fiction action film directed by John McTiernan and written by brothers Jim and John Thomas. It is the first installment in the Predator franchise. It stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as the leader of an elite paramilitary rescue team on a mission to save hostages in guerrilla-held territory in a Central American rainforest, who encounter the deadly Predator (Kevin Peter Hall), a technologically advanced alien who stalks and hunts them down.
Predator was written in 1984 under the working title of Hunter. Filming ran from March to June 1986 with creature effects devised by Stan Winston; the budget was around $15 million. 20th Century Fox released the film on June 12, 1987, in the United States, where it grossed $98.3 million. Initial reviews were mixed, but the film has since been reappraised as a classic of the action genre.
The success of Predator spawned a media franchise of films, novels, comic books, video games, and toys. It spawned three direct sequels: Predator 2 (1990), Predators (2010) and The Predator (2018), and an upcoming installment in preproduction. A crossover with the Alien franchise produced the Alien vs. Predator films, which include Alien vs. Predator (2004) and Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007).

Original Predator with Arnold Schwarzenegger still kicks ass till this day, the best Predator movie I enjoyed the most
predator 2 is a much underrated sequel, its dated but the premis is honest and well executed

Prey was an incredible movie. The story of Naru using her intelligence to overcome the Predator is very refreshing. I actually don't like the idea of bringing someone in from another movie. If we continue the story of Naru, then it should be focussed on her narrative.

I fully expected to hate Prey but tried to watch with an open mind....and boy was I glad I did!! Fantastic film, great action backed by a strong story with great direction and cinematography and pacing. Loved it and though sequels can often be disappointing I await Prey 2 with eager anticipation

It's not that everybody liked it or didn't like it it's just that if your opinion is different from theirs they're going to try to say it sucks and tell you why most people these days are never happy with anything, there was a reason why she was able to kill him not because she was Stronger because she was smarter and he was feral it was showing that he had never been or seen anything of our planet before most people just started hating on it from the beginning and didn't even pay attention it was a decent start to hopefully a franchise that can step up their game and make it even better movies I'm a predator fan no matter what I've watched everyone and I own everyone read all the books and all the comics whether their bad or good I like them all I can't wait for any of the new ones

While I liked Prey, I don't want a direct sequel. There are so many eras to explore. Dark Age, Civil War, WW1 & 2, Romans...etc. Not to mention, Predators coming back so quickly and to the same area for another hunt doesn't fit with Yautja culture.

I just remember he looked like Alan Ritchson too roided out for his suit and tie, like he slightly transformed into the hulk a bit before stopping. While still being way more stable than Gary Busey. Lol If Dutch got a job at the C.I.A. and stayed lifting weights and away from "pushing too many pencils." So he didn't end up losing his arm..s like his buddy Dillon. Seriously though, I'm going to miss Carl Weathers. I just had to say.
Actually one of the few more recent films that I liked. I think the way the Predator was defeated, even though the "coup de grace" was delivered by the protagonist,as it should,it didn't make it as she did it single handedly and did a good job of showing how her brother decisively weakened their adversary and ultimately sacrificed himself to make it possible for his sister to defeat a vastly superior foe. One thing i hear people say about this Predator is that he was less advanced than the one we saw on the original movie,but i don't really buy into that idea,i get the impression that whatever technological handicap this Predator might have is probably self imposed, either by himself or by his clan, wether as a challenge to himself or maybe as some kind of punishment,i just think that if the guy still has pin point tracking built in to his helmet and all the other fancy stuff in his arsenal,and the ability to travel between star systems i don't buy into the idea that they're not advanced enough to have a shoulder mounted laser cannon if they wanted to, just a thought...
This sounds like a bit of BS… predators usually hunt solo unless it’s a clan hunt going after dangerous prey such a hive queens.
On "Training Missions" for younger Predators they will actually hunt in a small pack with an older Predator as a "leader" This was explored in the Alien vs Predator comics....
Actually, having a franchise vs franchise movie would be the way to go. The early 2000's had it right with AVP, or Freddy vs Jason, or hell even puppet master vs demonic toys, only the hard core fans would catch that last reference. But with all the super hero movies out making billions, it's obvious that most the reason why is the bad ass fight scenes. If the Predator franchise really wants to make a comeback and maybe be really profitable, they should do a crossover with another universe. Like, let's say one with RoboCop in it. Or maybe one with the Terminator in it, having Arnold play two roles. Or the best part, maybe say that the Terminator's likeness came from Arnold's character in the Predators franchise. I don't know, that's just my opinion. What do you guys think 🤔?

Everyone crapped on "Predator 2". I thought it was awesome. "WANT SOME CANDY".

I still stand on my hill for predator 2. It's scarier, occurs in our back yards, the predator is WAAAY more brutal. The lore we get is amazing. The lead, Mike Harrigan, hunted the predator in the end turning the tables. It was amazing.

I think they shouldn't settle with one culture that came across the predators, I always went back to what Anna said I pred 1, when she told a story when she was little, if prey was a collaborative connection to pred 2, they should make the next prey movie to collaborate with pred 1 through the Cambodian culture. Prey surprised me and was better than I expected. At first, I expected it to be a complete girl power boss babe drivel where every man is made out to be a complete buffoon to make the heroine look that much better, which is too common a trope in today's media. Like the video says, and brings up great characters like Ripley and Connor, they forgot my all time favorite Aliens franchise character, Vasquez.

All the hate characters get like Naru, it’s not justified. The Predator underestimated Naru, and she used that to her advantage, played weak until she saw her opportunity to strike.
But the ignorance of history, which falsely portrays Native Americans as weak and dumb, feeds the hate that characters like Naru get. Especially Native Women, whom the American Culture views as trophies that deserved every Rape, every Degradation that they have and continue to experience. A strong Native Character terrifies the majority of sci if and fantasy fans, who have done their best to keep Native Character out of these Genres. Showing these characters in a positive light in any way shape or form, defeats the mindset that the American Public has about Native Americans: which is WE KILLED THEM AND STOLE THEIR LAND, GOOD FOR US, MOVE ON.

It would be a mistake to wright Schwartzenegger into this movie in anyway other than a completely different character. Audiences are willing to play their part with the suspension of disbelief to an extent. Unfortunately most recent films have utilized crazy time jumps and other nonsense to try and explain why someone is in the movie for no other reason than nostalgia. If you have to put Arnold in, do it like they did Stan Lee in all the cameo spots he was in during the good years of Marvel. People actually looked forward to seeing what his role would be in this movie or that movie. It was small and didn't impact the overall movie, but folks would talk about it when the movie was over. They need to keep it SIMPLE!

The bear and predator fight was the only aspect of the film that I found enjoyable; otherwise, the conclusion was terrible, and it made no sense to jump on the predator's neck.

I didn't think Pray was that good. It was ok, but when I grew up watching the original Predator and even Predator 2, the Pray movie to me was kind of a joke. The girl in Pray wasn't even 100 pounds soaking wet. The direction they took the movie in, I think, was bad, plus I really didn't like the digital special effects. I always will like more Practical effects just like in the original. Everything in movies today is digital from The location to what they're wearing. It takes the art out of it.

I watched the movie prey and was disappointed, I get it that there are different types of Predators, what kill e it for me is that the feral predator looked nothing like previous predators like Scar,or jungle hunter ya get the idea. The predator Movie 7 again looks nothing like jungle predator. Directors love to mess up a good character from the original.
