I believe Peter reached out to him and Tim said yes, making all of their days better.

I think they ask and Tim was happy to do this collaboration. He's very generous with his time and help upcoming singers. I think this really promoted them, though I think it's funny that they collaborated with a very low bass singer and give him the tenor lead. He did most of the bassline, too, though.
The Bass Gang was very excited to do this collaboration. PETER barber (guy in the grey sweater) has also a reaction/analysis channel and he did one for this. He explained more than analysed for this one, but it's worth a watch (you don't need to react to it). Peter was very giddy.
Have you reacted to some of Tim's solo stuff? He's released 5 of his 12 tracks of his solo album on CZcams. It's all a capella and he does all the part. While they are all awesome, a good starting point would be Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay.

I’m so old, I remember the original B.J. Thomas version on the radio. Blue Suede copied the Ooga-Chacka from someone else’s cover.
This is not my favorite BassGang song, but I love Tim here.

Since I don't really like the ooga-chacka effect (yep, I'm old, too) or the change in lyrics, this is FAR from my favorite BG song - but they are good at whatever they do, and Tim is a nice extra.

Peter Barber has a reaction/ analysis to this on his CZcams channel.
He reacted to this when it first came out but he never seen the finished video. He was like a little kid in a candy store when reacting and he was so happy about having Tim as a featured guest.
Before The Bass Gang released this they let a few reactors who react to them and Home Free react to this BUT they didn’t tell them what song was or who the guest featured was.The Bass Gang just gave them a untitled video and the reactions were so hilarious

Yes, the famous bass from Home Free sang tenor for The Bass Gang.
Tim has a five octave range.

How great was that! Love having Tim sing with the Bass Gang. Tim is the growl master but he can also sing high. I have always liked this song done first by the late B.J. Thomas in 1968. It was later done by Jonathan King in 1971 & Blue Swede in 1974 who both added the "ooga chaka" part. What makes this collaboration even more impressive is that none of the guys were even together.
