JJ, pleasantly surprised that you’re reacting to the ArchAndroid album. It’s a wonderfully creative concept, and Janelle Monáe is probably one of the most original and talented artists to debut in the past 20 years or so. “Tightrope” really gets you up and moving with that infectious beat and Janelle’s sublime vocals. Of all her songs - and she’s got some good ones - “Tightrope” remains my favorite.

This video of hers got me wanting to see more of her work back then. The mirror face dudes actually come from a really old black and white film called The Dream or The Nightmare. Monae is very creative!

I think this song speaks to the fact that life can be challenging. We have to be taught how to balance our emotions. Mental illness is no joke. We have to place more resources and focus on helping our lost people. Balance is the key. This song and Dance Apocalyptic are my favorites
