I’ve seen a bunch of videos of people with thin to very thin hair use this haircut technique and it actually works really well for them, it makes their hair look fuller.
The rule is that you have to cut at least 4” from from and back.

Hey, that's great news that it worked for them as you are correct layering can add volume and texture to thin hair and create the illusion of more voluminous hair but it is very individualized and people with thin hair have to be cautious as the layers can also make the hair appear thinner. It's best to consult with a hairstylist who can assess the hair type and suggest modifications to make the cut more suitable for thin hair.
Me, too. Not sure why she’d say that. And in such a ⚠️‼️ way. This cut is actually perfect for people with thin hair.
@@e.erin.......agree looks great on thin🎉 hair ....not sure it looks good on thick bleached hair really looks kind of tired and dead .... that's probably just the bleach though ...... 🌸
One misconception is that short feathered layers won’t look good on people with medium to thin hair. Personally I have wavy hair and feathered layers give my hair shape and body and give it the illusion of being thick. I’m so sick and tired of hair dressers telling me what I need to do with my own hair. I’m paying for a hair cut that I want if you can’t do it then just say that instead of wasting my time and money. Sorry, needed to vent that 😂 due to the video saying this only looks good on thick hair…
Can you show how it looks after the cut but before it's styled?
Hey I can’t send you a picture here in the comments but please feel free to reach out to us via email at everythinghairbrand@gmail.com and I’ll be happy to show you :)
That'd what I was thinking as curls hide stuff wrong with it
Yeah same. I've been trying to find how this cut looks before styling or even straightened afterwards. I don't have time to curl my hair all the time but I do straighten more often. @@xo.Bella.xo..
Works great! Just cut my hair and I am really pleased with the result!!!🎉 money saved!😊
Happy to hear you’ve had a great result! 😁👏
I did it on thin hair and it looks great did curtain bangs and face framing layering
This is the easiest tutorial I've ever seen on CZcams! I'm all thumbs but this works perfectly. I can't thank you enough oh god I love my new haircut so much🥺🥺
I have super fine hair and this cut looks great on me.
Hey Kali, thanks for letting us know. I’m so happy to hear you love the cut and it looks great on you 🥰 it can work on all hair types but I wanted to caution people by adding lots of layers to thin hair can make it feel thinner and I don’t want people to do the cut and then regret it. Hope you understand :)
It put me off doing it after hearing it was no good for thin hair. I need volume😢 Got all excited and ready to do it following Brad Mondo's tutorial😢
@@Saxonybedwitch I used to get this haircut in the 80s when I was a tween and I had it for several years until it wasn't popular anymore. I'm glad it came back. I literally talk to my hairdresser into doing it and I'm glad I did. It's the happiest I've been with my hair in a long time. I will say my hair isn't so much thin as it is fine. I actually have a lot of hair. It's just super fine hair. I have it with curtain bangs. Also, in the 80s my mom was a hairdresser, so I kinda knew how to do the haircut already and I was able to trim it myself. If you have the confidence to do so, it's actually not that difficult of a cut. Even my hairdresser, who is an equity hairdresser for the state of Tennessee only took seven minutes to cut my hair. She usually takes at least 30 to 40 up to an hour depending on what she does to it cut wise. Color...now that is a different story.
@@kalimeister708 Is that you in the videos??? Your hair is very lovely. I'm not much into hair trends, just anything that suits me and is easy as I'm physically disabled ( since being a baby). You've convinced me👍🏻I'm sure my husband will be able to help. I've subscribed to your channel. The Tarot and such has got me through many tough and happy times. Thank you Kalimeister.
@kalimeister708 thank you, i have my hair in a towel and was looking at tutorials and mine is super fine too
I just cut my hair. This is the best haircut. I have a huge amount of hair and it looks bad on top as it gets long. I put curls in it abd it’s beautiful. I get compliments all the time. I e been doing this cut for well o er a year now.
👋😁💕
im trying this hair cut out rn! hopefully it looks good since its been my dream haircut for 2 years no. im also adding dyes to the end to see if it looks ok!
This technique is so simple to follow. Thanks for sharing this video with us & I can't wait to try this! ❤
Yes so simple. I was and still am very happy with my cut. Probably should do it again soon haha. Thank you for watching and supporting us 💕 hope you have great results :)
just gonna put this out there, in the beginning she says it doesn’t work on thin hair. that’s where she is kind of wrong. she seems very experienced and professional but i have seen many thin haired girlies try out this haircut at home and it has made their hair look like it has so much more volume and layers. it gives so much character to the hair and i think all hair types including thin haired people should try it out if they r looking to add more character to their hair! also, i’m not a hairdresser or an experienced stylist. i have never done it on myself or someone else before so i suggest u get more help from professionals before attempting it. but i’m just saying from what i’ve seen, it has worked SO WELL for thin haired people!!
Hi 👋 thank you for your insight. I wanted to emphasize and warn people with thin hair that it can potentially not work out in their favor especially if they are inexperienced and doing this at home for the first time as there are risks. Once you cut the hair you can't undo it so I believe it's best to warn people so that they are cautious. However, I agree with you that the cut can work for thin hair and seeing a professional stylist can be very helpful as they can tailor the cut to suit a persons specific hair type and face shape🩷
@@EverythingHairBrandhave no fear! Most of us knew exactly what you meant. People just seem to want to make a big deal out of nothing. At no point did you say “this hairstyle won’t work on thin hair”. Pfft enjoy your day and thank you for the video!
Tysm this is so helpful i had tried that tutorial today and it looks so beautiful 🤩❤️
Thank you, this was very helpful! ❤
Thank you for watching 💕
Yes this is very beautiful. I’ve seen some butterfly horror stories on social media.
Thank you Tracy! It's so important to be cautious, do your research, use proper tools, and take it slow by gradually working your way up to help prevent those butterfly cuts gone wrong. What works for one person doesn't work the same for another 💕
If your hair is thin and fine please do not do this, I'm currently suffering the consequences and had to chop quite abit for my ends not to look so sparse
Hi I’m sorry this happened to you and I hope your hair grows back out fast! Thank you for spreading this message and telling people to be cautious 💕
This was a great video! I think I’m going to try this on my hair. Is this a pretty low maintenance cut? I don’t blow dry or style my hair. I usually let it air dry or wrap it in a bun and sleep with it wet so I have waves the next morning. That’s about all I ever do but I guess I could start styling it if I had to. I just don’t want anything too time consuming. 😊
Thank you! It’s definitely low maintenance as I’m just like you I pretty much don’t blow dry or style my hair as well unless there’s some event or we are filming :) It sounds like a perfect cut for you especially if you have wavy hair as the extra layers will make your hair wave more and make it appear fuller and will add movement. It’s important to make sure you don’t cut the layers too short though because then you won’t be able to wrap your hair in a nice bun. You can start by cutting a little and then work your way up until you get the desired look just to be on the safe side :) also be careful with this cut if you have thin hair.
Nice 🎉🎉
Love ❤️ it thanks for sharing
Thank you 🥰💕
The angle is wrong. First pony is supposed to be cut closer to the face
My sister will get the butterfly hair cut but in october because she got cut and she will get a apointment
But what if you have naturally medium thin hair and have bead hair extensions to make hair look thicker will this look good? Also well this hair style still look good if you want to have it straight sometimes?
Hi I’m sorry it’s so hard to answer your questions without seeing your hair in person. I would advise speaking to your stylist for the best recommendations. The style can look good with straight hair but to get a more accurate reply for your specific hair type it’s truly best to speak with a professional 🥰
If you have thin hair, should you do the butterfly cut or not
Hi the butterfly haircut can work well on thin hair. I would recommend to consult with a professional stylist who can assess your hair type and advise on the best approach to achieve the desired look you want without causing damage.
Hello, what types of hair can we cut in this way?
Hey you can do this cut on various hair types including curly, wavy, and straight. With curly hair, this cut can reduce some of the bulk and enhance the shape and definition of the curls and also help distribute the weight of the hair. With wavy hair, it can enhance and accentuate the natural waves and the hair will gain more bounce and texture. With straight hair, this cut can create volume, movement, and texture and it can help add body and dimension to give the hair a fuller appearance.
hi! do you have to style it? and does it look good not styled?
Hi Nicole the layered structure of this cut is designed to enhance the natural texture and movement of the hair so it's definitely possible for it to look good not styled and air dried as the layers will help to create volume and texture as the hair dries. Unless I am filming or going out for an event, I always air dry my hair and it looks great, way better than it did without the butterfly cut.
WOWWW THANK YOU!!! never spending money again
🤣💕
Do you have the rest of the cut for the bangs and blend by chance
Hi no unfortunately I do not. It is a good idea for another video :)
I really want to do this but Ive never cut my own hair before. Is that ok or do I need experience for it to look good?
So basically the hole point of this cut is its simplicity, it comes out great as long as you follow a tutorial. This is the perfect cut for beginners! I highly recommend:D
Hey if you do all the steps correctly you should be okay assuming your hair type matches the cut but to be on the cautious side I would start by not cutting too much hair and checking the results as you go so that you don't end up with cutting too much and regretting it after.
Gotta start somewhere ! I got ahold of scissors and been trimming my own bangs and hair since I was 10 yrs old. Sometimes it didn't turn out good, sometimes it did. Takes practice. I do recommend getting actual hair cutting scissors instead of dull kitchen scissors. Makes a difference.
Quiston: will this cut still look good if i have short side bangs???? Pls respond i have been wanting a change in my hair for so long..
Hey I'm glad you found our video for some inspiration to finally change your hair! To be honest, without seeing you it's hard to determine if a butterfly cut with short side bangs will look good on you. I suggest consulting with a hairstylist where you can show some inspiration photos and the stylist can assess factors like your face shape and hair texture so you can receive a more personalized recommendation and one that will complement your features so that you can ultimately be happy with the result :) Also, a butterfly cut does not have to be styled with a middle part and it is possible to do this cut with short side bangs and have it look good
The last part for thick hair.. do i grab all my hair straight up? Or just a section?
Hey, the last part is to just grab the high ponytail and align it with the front one you already cut so that the front one can be a guide for you to see what length you need to cut at. Cut the hair at the same angle as you see in 2:06 Keep the hair separated in two sections until you finish both cuts and then let it down to see if you like the length or you want to cut more.
I might do this❤❤
Can you recomend a haircut for thin hair???
Hi Maya, great question! We will have to release a video on this :) in the meanwhile, you can take a look at this video for some inspo and ideas czcams.com/video/X6UBeomOl9o/video.html

@Everything Hair thank you😊 but I already had the haircut since then 😅
@@Noy3536 sorry for the delayed response! What did you end up going with? How do you like it :)
@Everything Hair I did a long Bob (lob), and I love it💖
@@Noy3536 great choice! I’m glad you love the results
