Only a single caxixi can produce two perfectly different sound effects: when the seeds inside of the caxixi hit the bottom ( made out of gourd ), a sharp, high pitched tone is produced, whereas when hitting the woven corpus ( made out of ratan or reed )a soft, deep pitched tone is effected. So you can create an endless variety of different rhythms with one or,- even better, two caxixis held in both hands!
