I live in the woods in Vermont and in 1998 I first became enlightened in a druidic way, sitting under a tree and wondering what the tree was when I had a powerful experience. After much research I was told it was a Rowan tree. But then I knew nothing of druids. I discovered that Dru was Greek for Oak which meant something to me because my name is Drury. I’ve since discovered Buddhism so I am intrigued by the connection between the two so thanks for this talk. I too went to Ireland and spent last year there researching the book of Kells. I lived in Enniscorthy, a cute little town.

Im half Irish, never set foot there-British Irish and I absolutely get the thing about the people-especially the traveling community. My roots I feel really distinctively :) The love of story, nature, lore, faith in spirits :)

Very interesting, thank you. As Philip says towards the end, "follow your nose". Extremely good advice. "Have faith in your discernment".

To me, the cost of OBOD is well worth the education, materials, support, guidance and community that is available. Also, what price do you put on a life-changing path and way of being? It should be said that each grade is less than $500 US dollars. I don't think that's bad at all! The freedom to believe and participate in any way each person feels guided is extraordinary. It has made such a difference to my personal spiritual path. Thank you for this great interview.

You are very welcome! There will be more interviews and other content in the near future. I totally agree with you that the value is well worth the cost. The problem is that, especially in our current economy, some people just can't afford it regardless of the value OBOD provides. I am grateful that Philip discussed various payment options and that people can contact the office to discuss other arrangements if they are experiencing financial hardship. Please consider visiting my website, mikeguarneri.com. I have a weekly newsletter that you may be interested in!

Mike, thank you for bravely asking Philip these questions. I can tell you were a bit intimidated by him, and that's ok. You had the guts to speak honestly with this person, who is a real somebody in our world. We are all special, children of God. I was an atheist for many years, and revised my view last year, for good. I think this was a key concept that was missed in the discussion (Druids require a belief in our Creator, call Him what you like). The Ireland Atlantis theory you refer to is only partly true, and the topic is very hard to broach especially with persons who have strong ties to academia, as Philip does. The camp mentality in academia is very strong, and science lately has shown us that academia clings to its beliefs dogmatically, in spite of their best efforts to convince us of due process and scientific method and all the rest of it, as they do so from peer pressure reasons, or even more bluntly people are afraid to stick their necks out. This system they are in forbids them to be as open-minded as your fertile mind requires, and we have to give them the courtesy of not wishing to alienate their friends. Who could blame them? In all, excellent discussion, thank you for posting this. You're very brave for overturning certain stones!

Fantastic for the people like me who got a bit intimidated by the mentor process and I did not know I can get an online copy-I cant read the paper copies-I get lost with the text on paper etc. I look forward to more of your productions :) Could we have a seed group of online skeptics on the path?

Nicky, thanks for your comments! Yes, it seems like the online version would work better for you. A lot of the text can be read to you online as well. If you enjoyed this video, I also interviewed Eimear Burke, the current Chief of OBOD. In fact, there are a bunch of other great interviews and how-to videos on my channel (I am biased...) A seed group of online skeptics on the path is something to consider. Currently, I am working to build a community around my research and results. If you would like to take part and stay updated, please click the free guide link in the description of any of my CZcams videos. You will receive my free guide and will join my newsletter.

Thanks Mike. I really enjoyed this video and would like to watch more. Iʼm in Hawaii and have not found any groups here but I often dream of Scotland when I wander on the shoreline. There is a magic I love in the forest that makes me resonate with Druidry, that probably comes with my Welsh, Scottish and Irish blood. My parents met in the Giant Sequoia National park and I often journey there, in my mind as I awaken, to visit my tree relatives.

Hi Jan. Thanks for your comments. First of all, if you are on maui, please be safe. Great comments! Everybody has to find that magic in life and nature. Please check out my other videos, especially the interviews. There is even one with Eimear Burke, the current leader of the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids. Also, later this week, I will be publishing an interview with an ancestral lineage healer, who is also a professional genealogist.

It seems astounding that people continue to think that the druids left any record of what they believed or what rites, rituals, or practices they performed. The practitioners of druidism have created traditions from the national imagination of Britain.

Druids can be seen as occidental Taoists. Both of them have been overridden by power politics resulting in our current scenario - the imminent death of all surface life on this planet.
