I would have thought Cole would use one roller blade and one roller skate so he can be asymmetrical! 😬 looks so fun!! Hope you had an amazing trip!!
😂
🤣🤣🤣
What an amazing trip. And that Chip Theory Games Office is just so joy- and playful.
"Did you bring your rollerblades?"
"I literally go nowhere without them."
Wow wow, so envious of your rollerblading/sailing with Cole Werhle and tours of game studios, that sounds incredibly cool. I went to minneapolis a couple years ago and went to Level Up games too! It was so so cozy, love how its kindof tucked underground. The LevelUp Retreat also sounds lovely, so many interessting new games played!
When I moved back home to help out mom, I found my old rollerblades. On a whim, I took them for a spin on a local paved trail. It was still fun! One random guy gave me a fist pump and yelled, “Bringing it back, dude!” 😂
Hahaha it is so much fun and a great workout! You can always spot the people who grew up on them - it's the nostalgic glint in the eye as we blade past heheh. Highly recommend trying triskates!
@@ThinkerThemer I hadn’t heard of triskstes. What came to mind was a tricycle version of skates :D
But I guess it’s three larger wheels in-line as opposed to the usual four. Sounds like it’d be a recipe for disaster switching back and forth between the two!
I guess the new shiny sporty thing around here in the SF Bay Area is pickle ball. I haven’t tried that yet. One place that opened up nearby charges $170/month for a membership! I’ll probably pass on that.
Rollerblading 🤩 I have to do that again one of these days 🤩
Great update! Some of those office spaces... OMG. Life goals.
Hope you continue to have a great time in MN. I love Level Up games so much, so its great that you got to visit!
Was so much fun meeting you two and playing veiled fate and feed the kraken together 😊
Hello beautiful ladies! So excited to see you in the US again! Hope you have a fabulous trip!
This was such a fun video and such different content than what you typically find on board game channels. Thank you for taking us on your trip with you and I hope you continue to have a blast while you are here in the US!
Totally agree- love your travel content on the channel. Who knew games and travel would be as good as as food and travel. You’re on to something! Thanks guys for sharing :)
So cool you were in Minnesota! I live in the Twin Cities, and I go biking by the lakes all the time. Hope you had fun!
Also I live less than a mile from The Source! I love that place.
It seems like such a wonderful place to live. Seeing everyone so active on the lakes is such a great summer vibe. We loved it!!! Super jealous that The Source is your local 😅
I only just saw this, and couldn't believe they visited the metro area! I live in Minneapolis not far from Lake Harriet, and I'm delighted they were able to enjoy the lakes. Too bad they didn't get to visit the North Shore (Duluth.) Chicago/Lake Michigan has nothing on it. 😊
Welcome to the states! I live about 3 hours north of Chicago in Wisconsin so I hope everyone there treated you both kindly!
What a great bunch of games you played and your travels are looking amazing!
Yay! Glad you got to see so much of Minnesota, love stone arch bridge and Leder games is fantastic and just down the road from me
You live in a beautiful part of the world! ☺️
Sounds like you girls are having an awesome time! And how great to spend the day with Cole Wehrle Roller blading and sailing! Level Up sounded awesome! Can’t wait to hear how the rest of your trip goes!
Still in shock I got to meet you both!!!!! Can’t believe it!!! (P.s. if I would have known you brought your rollerblades, I WOULD HAVE BROUGHT MINE!! I LOVE ROLLERBLADING!!!!🎉🎉🎉 NEXT TIME!! ❤❤🎉🎉)
Chip Theory is amazing. My wife and I were lucky enough to be Alex and Meg's +1 at a gaming night Chip Theory hosted at their HQ. Such a great time with some awesome people. If I had to work in an office, that would be the ideal one.
With all of the publishers and developers in the area, we are blessed with a wealth of fantastic gaming stores in the Twin Cities. My favorite is probably the former showroom / game store for Fantasy Flight, renamed as the Gamezenter.
Level Up turned out to be a wonderful event and we are glad that we decided to go.
thanks for taking us along for the ride - so happy to see you two having an amazing time!
I only have Mythic Mischief from IV, good to hear your thoughts on the other games.
and Cole is amazing!
Thanks for the kind words about Dawn of Ulos! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
*Sends off resume to Chip Theory Games* :) Feed the Kraken looks very interesting. I will keep an eye out for that one.
It would be fun if a group of us who are fans of the channel could gather at a con and play that one. I agree...it sounds like a lot of fun!
Thank you for the great video 🤩
Can’t believe I missed u guys at The Source, my favorite store! Hope to meet u 2 at Gencon!
Can't wait for the water polo with Uwe video!
This sounds like it was a ton of fun. Cole is one of my favorite designers and I'll try not to be too jealous! ;)
😂 it was certainly up there with the most random experiences we've had in board gaming! Such a lovely day out!
Sounds like you've been having so much fun. Have a great time in Chicago! Hope to see you at Gen Con! Perhaps a filler game is in our future 😊
If you're still in the Minneapolis area I highly recommend All Systems Go in Northeast Minneapolis. Small shop that specializes in used board games so there can be some out of print finds! Hope you remembered to pack your luggage scales for Gen Con!
Hope you had a good time in my home state! The Source is great. That is my favorite game store.
There are so many great game stores in the Twin Cities! We have a great gaming community here. Lots of nerds around here :)
Aw, the seagulls may have been looking for shelter from the storm. 🥴 ... It looks and sounds like you had (are having?) a blast on your trip. That mega game store looks amazing. And now I want to dust off my rollerblades.
It was nice to meet you in person and play Veiled Fate together. Level Up was a very special retreat. I can't wait for the next one.
Great video. I enjoyed all the b-roll. Thanks for taking the time.
It was sooooo great to meet you finally and we have such fond memories of playing veiled fate together!!! Thank you for calling out the b-roll, that's all Maggie and she spent a lot of time on it so I will pass that feedback along. Thank you for all of your support and kindness ❤️ 🙏
Playing Arnak with you guys was fantastic! I hope I get to play something else with y’all in the future! Keep being awesome!
Thanks for the jam packed video! Wow, so many fun things. I should've got you to grab me a copy of the hard to get 'burncycle' while you were at Chip Theory Games - haha. I backed 20 Strong so am looking forward to that.
Glad you enjoyed it! Yes we did spy a few things that we know people are eagerly awaiting! Unfortunately burncycle would be a little too big to sneak out in our backpack for you 😂 thanks for watching 😊
Looks like a great start to your trip! (And I wish I could've popped in to Level Up for a day in Stamford....I heard that you played Wonderland's War! Can we play that game together someday? 😊) I can completely relate to the packing a big bulky item (i.e., roller blades) that takes up so much space! Back from my trip to the Adirondacks, where I filled up my friend's car with inflatable stand up paddleboards, bicylces, food for cooking, and of course....games! Great to see that you're getting in some exercise too and wow, the sailing really looked spectacular!
Thanks for taking the time to put together such a long vlog when you're on holiday and I look forward to your Gen Con coverage. Hope you have a blast! (P.S. Between Carly talking about the parking garage and you guys and the birds...Stamford sounds like a scary place! 😂)
I have never been on roller blades - I am from the roller skates generation - but it sure does look fun! Glad to see that your extended journey to the States looks to be worth it!
great video! However, occasionally I would realize that I had missed seconds at a time as I was distracted by the floating orange fingertips.
Chicago is an excellent place to rollerblade! I went in college and skated for 14 miles around town by myself. Suuuper fun.
Had a blast hanging out and can't wait to do it again!
Veiled Fate was rigged I tell you!!!
Great video! Maybe I’ll see you at Spiel Essen.
Were y'all in Minneapolis and I missed it??? This is amazing 🙌
Was the sailing and roller-blading at Bde Maka Ska? I used to live right by there... but, not to bury the lede or brag, but I now live across the street from The Source now. 😁I'm truly blessed. 💜
Ooo I think that mightve been the one. Cole mentioned it was the largest lake?
Super jealous of where you live! Although how do you curb your spending being so close to there 😅
@@ThinkerThemer I might have a problem with that. 💸💸💸
Ooh, I want to know more about Mollyhouse!
Sounds like such fun... next up should be volleyball with Ignacy Trzewiczek. Rumor is he is a huge volleyball enthusiast.
Are you still in Minneapolis?? I'm the designer of Four Humours, and I'm here in the Twin Cities! Thanks for the awesome review, so glad you enjoyed it. 😀
Water polo with Uwe Rosenberg 🤣
What a life, I am just so jealous of all of your travel and fun times! I bet you are a very small group of people who can claim they have been skating and sailing with a board game designer haha
It was very unexpected but such a wonderful summer's day! We did pinch ourselves wondering if it was actually happening. Very random! Thanks for watching ☺️
Wait. Roller blading is a thing again?!! Man, I've missed doing that. Will be down at Brisbane's Southbank this weekend terrorising the tourists like it's 1999!
What a dreammmmm!
Thank you for this nice Insight. And thank you for being lovely human beings. Do you plan on visiting Spiel in Essen?
HOW FUN!!!! I haven't bladed n probably ummmm 15 years!? lol! I should probably get back into it! HAHAHAA I'm dying at water polo with UWE! hahahahaha Dead!
This is so funny
Oh my goodness where is that egg cat tshirt from?!
Taiwan I think! Haha Maggie picked up some cute ones in Asia 😄
Well having less space helps you control your spending on games i guess lol
Throw out the Rollerblades! Lolllll
Do you feel that engaging socially with these designers creates a conflict of interest that will make it harder to review their games fairly in the future? You don't usually see media critics hanging out with the makers of the media they review.
This is such a great question thank you for raising it. The publishers and designers that we get along with most are those that respect our integrity, process and honesty. We have certainly not always been positive towards Leder Games' products and equally they told us they don't like to always use the same reviewers too many times in a row to ensure independence.
We completely agree with you that it's a delicate topic that we have thought about, but we certainly never feel any pressure or need to please (and we provided further critical feedback about the early prototype that Cole welcomed). Chip Theory Games equally were so welcoming given our transparency about not being interested in several of their games (for the theme, or the coop nature).
It's certainly not the case that we've always been treated professionally in this industry but can safely say that those we respect the most understand not every game is for every person and want to hear this variance & feedback. We try to always do this respectfully, no matter if we've met the designer or not.
Thanks again for the thoughtful question. A&M
Ok, now you are just bragging 😂 skating and sailing with Cole Wehrle!!
It was entirely unplanned and unexpected but who says no to that invite?! Not us 😅
@@ThinkerThemer of course you had to do it 😃 👍👍
