"This proud black man, Mr. Brown..."
If you want to find relatives you did not know existed. win the lottery!
That's freakin funny. Funny because it's true.
Or dont fuck your slaves. How hard is it?
It's cheaper and easier to take the DNA test. Unless you want to share the secret to winning the lottery.
Facts! Lottery or insurance settlement. Heard from relatives I'd never meet
Jedi Day I found out about two close cousins when my mom took one. One first once removed and one first twice removed. The one I met was extremely kind and 24 years older than her siblings. She was born to both their parents pre-maritally so they gave her up for adoption.
In the US, historically a person like the police man who had 18% black ancestry would have been considered black because of the "one drop" rule, and subjected to the discrimination, victimization and segregation that black Americans were subjected to, even if he looked more caucasian. That is why when people who have always thought they were caucasian find out they have black ancestry they take it very seriously as part of their identity and may trigger them to want to identify with and learn more about this heritage, and are often accepted as black or at least its respected that they are claiming their black roots. It means something in the context of our cultural history as a nation. This man didnt invent the one drop rule; he would have been considered black.
It's sort of the opposite with American Indian ancestry. Historically because native tribes still had some sovereignty and land under treaties, the government would "whiten" anyone of American Indian ancestry who was part caucasian. The fewer people that counted as native, the less people they had to give the sovereignty and land/resource rights to. That is why even many Americans who are legitimately half native cannot legally claim identity unless there is enough ancestry all from the same tribe and family documented on tribal rolls.
It was 2 different ways of disenfranchising 2 different groups of people, and now results in very different responses when an ostensibly "white" person discovers a significant % of ancestry in one of these groups. There is a political and historical context that influences the claim to these identities in the US.
a damn good history recap
That's a damn good Ray Romano impression.
Ikr, I didnt expect it xD
Seriously.
Absolutely true. The crowd was lame though.
Wait... That wasn't Ray Romano!?!
Looks like I'm late to the "hey, they got the video right this time" party.
I had an Asian classmate who'd been adopted as a baby do a DNA test to find out which nationality she was and her results just said "East Asian." She was crushed and didn't know if she should drown her sorrows with sushi, Pad Thai or a Peking duck.
nja122890 hahahaha
Fuckin legendary.
Pad thai isnt east asian. Thai are southeast asian
All three
@@terrian8205 I bet you're good fun at parties
😂😂hope they didn't mix up the titles again
You south african bro?
What I came here to see
Well it could be a great meme. But it’s not anymore.
I can't stop imagining an indian Jim Jefferies
Would be awesome. Lol
An Indian with an Australian accent with a long running affair with rum.
Since he could not drink milk since he was a child.
It's easy to recognize an evil twin, they always have a mustache.
sometimes, a goatee.
@@lordmorklen5166 ooh, you gotta watch yourself for those!
What if i have a goatee?
@@eansba88- OMG OMG OMG... 😱

Finally!!! The correct video!!! Yey
Jim is an absolute unit of a treasure
Lmaooo that Ray Romano impression was hilarious
🍕Mexican is not a race it's a country in the Americas
Theres is no country on the map called Mexican!!😉😉
Technically Mexican can refer to members of the ethnically Nahua people from the Mexico valley, who are genetically differentiable from other Nahua. So it's sort of a race. Most people just mean Mestizo though.
It is like chinese and Japanese mexican is a race mexico is a country
Billy The Kid say that to the MAGA trash
Meh, race doesn’t exist scientifically anyway, it’s all cultural.
I claim copyright on my DNA. I demand royalties for any unauthorized reproduction.
Okay that's an option when you do these tests.
That's not how copyright works, lol.
Should have called it"Heel Hitler"
Why does this guy sound like if hes always drunk?
stana916 that’s just what all Aussies and Kiwis sound like
He's always drunk
All of the above
Because he is
It's the accent.
4:00 Dead! LMAO!
I saw a geneticist on local news more than a year ago. DNA testing is great for identifying criminal suspects. It's also almost full-proof in identifying John and Jane Does, as well as identifying relatives.
It is not good at determining ethnic heritage. My father-in-law took a test, and it said he was about 90% British (English, Scottish, and/or Welsh).
There is a slight problem. His father was born in a small town in the Netherlands and immigrated to the U.S. around age 6. There is nothing in the family history to suggest that people from Britain ever moved to Netherlands.
So, not that accurate.
Fantastically funny with a lot of sarcasm. Love it!
On the accuracy of most of these tests: there was a study (you can look this up) where identical twins were tested for their ancestry and there was a nearly 20% discrepancy between the results!
That is not so surprising, DNA is not always passed through identically even in identical twins. I know a family where there are identical twin boys, one is gay and the other one is straight. There is a family that has identical twin girls, one is dark with nappy hair, and the other one is fair with straight European hair, however, their facial and other physical features are the same.
I like Jim.
Score. Really wanted to see this.
The first and only time I had my dna tested, I found out that I have a genetic heart condition that has a 50% chance to pass on to any offspring (75% if the egg donor has it) that WILL kill if not treated. I'm not exactly thrilled with the idea of find out anything else.
@Liza Tanzawa I knew I had the condition, I just didn't know that I had the genetic markers that COULD cause it (there are other things that could cause it outside genetics) or that it was pretty likely to be passed on. I wasn't going to have kids anyway, but knowing is kind of a bummer.
That was a pretty good Ray Romano!!
I had a friend find-out his dad had a second family and he had a step brother and it was not a mistake. So that was an awkward result
I was given the Ancestry test as a birthday gift and was genuinely interested to find out more about my heritage. It basically said "Your ancestors are from Europe", which I could have told you with reasonable accuracy just based on the fact that I'm white. It also failed to match me to one of my cousins (despite them being listed on my family tree) while managing to match me to her twin sister (both had also done the test, though I'm not sure why since being a twin is basically a two-for-one offer on your results). Was not impressed at all - proper genetic testing could give me a good idea of which County in the UK my ancestors were from and about 70% of my DNA hadn't been narrowed down further than "two thirds of a continent" and with the amount they charge they could certainly have done better than that.
A friend of mine who's done extensive research about his ancestry and knows he's a decendant of russian nobility who fled Russia during the revolution (his great grandparents, so not that long ago and he even has the official paperwork), had according to such tests no russian ancestry what so ever. So I'd take those tests with a pinch of salt.
@@lavrentivs9891 I mean it's basically right, in the sense that by narrowing it down to "Europe" it's more or less guaranteed to be. I knew before taking it that my family had barely left the UK in the last 1000 years, so I was mostly just interested to see which other European countries had mixed their way in. Ah well.
Bullshit. Ancestory doesnt just say, ummmm europe. Its gives percentages based on reigions. I get that they arent as accurate as people hope right now but no need to lie.
Also, out of the three types of twins...only one type has the same DNA.
@@alexandercanella4479I know the internet has some obnoxious know it alls, but I remain fairly sure I know what my results said better than you, so feel free to jog on.
This was fun. But for a better in-depth look at genetic testing, check out John Oliver's piece on it.
I wouldn't use a comic as an in-depth source of information.
@@dritslem4711 I wouldn't knock the piece until you see it.
Johnny is good for bringing topics to the average person's attention, but he doesn't bring many details to the table. If you really care about a topic, read peer-reviewed articles on it.
@@DJLuckeyLu my point exactly
DJ Luckey Lu Yeah, cuz John doesn’t have a team of expert researchers which insulates him from libel lawsuits at his disposal or anything.
Guntar seems to have lost some weight.
This proud black man... I lost it there
Holy crap. Its the right one
Just recently found out my grans dad had fun in the 70’s. We just found 2 aunts that we had no clue.
Oh Jesus ! That was a great show.
I’ve listened to enough Bill Burr to know that giving your dna to a company is a dumb thing to do
Exactly!!!
Everything except that last bit was good
About time we finally got the video to the script we have already read..
I swear you guys are always baked right cuz that's exactly what I think about when I'm baked
Underrated af
i never really thought about it, but they could literally tell you anything as long as it's close, and now they've gotten 100 bucks from you and you can't prove that any of it is accurate or you wouldn't have done the test in the first place.
The relatives I AM aware of are bad enough!
Great Ray Romano voice. And for some reason, no audience reaction.
I was kinda hoping it was going to be another 'surprise'
I wanted to see this video a few weeks ago! Ill just have it on in the background now. 😠
They did it right this time
I had to explain to my parents that mitochondrial Eve is from Africa when they got one of these tests.
My niece did one and actually got connected to her biological father after having believed another man was her dead beat dad. My sister was surprised the father was a fling behind her then-boyfriend's back, so he became an ex-boyfriend who got blamed for over 2 decades. Now my niece's biological father, who had also done a dna test which allowed the link i supposed(?), has been getting to know her and will be giving her away at her wedding. Crazy story but real, so there must be some degree of accuracy. Also they weren't actually living very far apart, her in east Texas and him in west Louisiana, but i don't remember what service she used or if regions should matter unless both tests happened to go through the same lab. The real takeaway though is that cheating hurts innocent people.
That's more like it!
In the words of Jim - STOP MAKING SENSE!!!!!
I mean, my great aunt and uncle were serial killers who targeted teenage girls and lured them with pot. So I don't really need to know about any more relatives, right?
Is that true !!??
@@daveyhouston that's the story my dad's family tells. Apparently, they buried the bodies in my great grandmother's yard in the middle of the night.
Your great grandmother didn't know her daughter and son were digging up her yard in the middle of the night? Did your grandmother or grandfather (your great uncle and great aunt's sibling) not see anything mysterious about a brand new flowerbed popping up every so often?
Yeah, forget the dead bodies, I wanna know how an entire family overlooks graves in the yard...
@@keepdancingmaria she had a bit of property, from what I understand. A few acres. That might have contributed to no one noticing.
keepdancingmaria In Tennessee or at least the Tri State area some dude who owned a crematory was found to have 350 uncremated bodies all over his property. A lot of them weren’t even buried. They were under tarps wood etc. he used some of the bodies to make humps on a BMX track for his nephews. No one noticed.
I thought we were finally going to see the elephant.
A few clips were from CBC's segment they did on this subject, 2 identical twins came back with different backgrounds and ethnicity. Check it out, its funny.
Two twins = four people.
I would rather just consider 7.5 billion people as relatives.

I miss the podcast
They never truly go back to the source.
A Kung Fu Panda moment. :-)
I don't doubt that they're sketchy as fuck but I found an entire half of my family that didn't know about me bc my dad, whom I've never met, never told his family about me. Couldn't be happier : )
I spoke to an ex girlfriend of mine recently and It turns out that her parents had 3 somes and her daddy’s juice didn’t swim as fast as the guests and her mom took one and she had a different dad. I’m glad I didn’t stay with her, I may have raised a kid that wasn’t mine. Bunch of cheaters I tell ya
I think quite a few families have been torn apart by these tests.....we should just offer mandatory DNA testing at birth so men can make sure the kid is theirs.
Her mom cheated, so you dodged a bullet? Only if you were with her mom...
But threesomes are consensual?...
cheating implies someone’s trust was broken.
Sounds like they had consensual kinky sex and there was an accident ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@randimatsuzaki8461 Good point. Not even that kinky if you ask me. Thanks for correcting me. I was focusing too much on the generational sin thing. Frankly, I think it was the girl who dodged a bullet, getting away from the judgemental shark daddy.

@ArtVande1ay1 did you just RIPed me bro?
One thing you can find out is if your mum had a fling before getting married. My mum was a runaway bride and was also about to marry a virgin. Though I would hope he wasn't a virgin before they finally got married.
I was what they call a honeymoon baby. Ha ha! But my dad doesn't know and I don't plan to tell him unless someone needs to give me bone marrow or something dire.
I still wish I could meet my bio dad and get medical history.
Maybe one day
I think we can all agree. This could be better,....

Why does Jim Jeffries just do whatever John Oliver did 12 months ago?
Jeffries has long been known to steal other comedians’ bits among other dishonest practices. Not sure why his fans don’t seem to know or care
@@dannythomas4835 we do know, but you are right, we do not care. I do not watch John Oliver, so I have never seen his take on the subject. Anyway, most comedy is repeated to some degree and the vast majority of it is made up or a complete exaggeration of the truth. All people want is a laugh, but you seem to think that it should meet your own personal criteria. Anyway, you have made it clear enough on past videos how much you hate Jim, so why are you still watching his videos? Why don't you watch John Oliver if he already did this instead of continually watching Jim's material. Because you know that Jim is the best, that's why. John Oliver may have done it, but Jim almost certainly did it better and that's why you came here, to see the best comedian do it right. Good call.
Both to topical comedy, so topical news are bound to come up in both comedians' shows.
Find out we are all related...
Ray Romano is a monster.
The percentage of racial makeup may be off, but for adopted children looking to find their birth parents and their immediate family, it's priceless.
The Indian parents are a Monty Python joke. Seriously.

This is what bill burr was saying to him years ago
im a genealogist, and these DNA-tests really kind of annoy me. a lot of it is just bullshit. or well, at least doesnt actuallly say much. for instance, i saw a video where they surprised british people with the results and told them they have german roots. and they were like "oh my god i thought im only british"
uh... almost all of the british genepool stems from germany, because of various invasions and migrations
I gave them no hints, and they nailed my ancestry.
My mom gave them some, and Ancestry completely flubbed hers.
They told her she was largely native American, Moor, and (wait for it) Slavic.
She's Hawaiian pacific islander. As in Bayonet Constitution/Kingdom of Hawaii native, reaching back to Tahiti.
That's one hell of a tough explain.
