They are basically the same car, sharing a common platform so most characteristics will be the same. Lexus will have more refinement, for example, it has balancer shafts on the engine for vibration damping and the battery is a new generation, which will allow better acceleration. But some of the design compromises will still be on the LBX, such as the basic rear suspension. As a Lexus driver, I’m looking forward to owning an LBX, for the upgrades from the already excellent small Yaris Cross package. Even if it looks like a Kia Stonic!

After testdriving them both 2 days in a row, it was an easy decision. Toyota sold me the Cross for its better ride position, much better infotainment position, simple drivestick ( to put the LBX in Drive you must go left and back with the stick every time) bigger boot and ofcourse better pricing.
Btw the info of Cross being only fwd is false. I paid 33k for a Premiere version wich has another electrific engine for the rear wheels
Also, Yaris has 4wheel drive.

As someone who prefers smaller vehicles, it's shame that neither of these vehicles are offered in the US/NA market.

The LBX is what the Yaris Cross should have been, and would have sold in much greater numbers. Personally I haven’t seen many of the Toyota version on the road in the U.K. The Cross is quite a bit cheaper but the design is nowhere near as good as the LBX.

The Yaris cross has a hideous cheap interior, the Lexus fixes this.
But since the Yaris is already overpriced and underpowered, the Lexus will be way too expensive and still underpowered for most people.
Luxury is effordless power , 136hp for probably about 50k is simply ridiculous.
