Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell had harmonies that were hauntingly beautiful. My favorite vocal duo.
He said Layne fucking Stanly, uuuggghhh It's Staley dude. Brutal
@@brianricheal9636the only reason I came to the comments lol

AMEN BROTHER!!!!!! 1,000%!!!!
This Boy by The Beatles is an incredible harmony as well
FilmFire96 facts
FilmFire96 and “if I fell”
Nothing can beet the harmonies of Nowhere Man
@Patrick Roy there was no harmony, it was just John
If I Fell is their best harmony, imo.
The Everly Brothers recorded without all the add-ons done in a studio. They sounded like one voice. They are #1 in my opinion.
I get chills anytime I hear these guys. So many to choose from not just the obvious ones
I agree it was pitch perfect they r amazing
Their harmonies were purely natural... Simply The Best~~~
And then the Righteous Brothers appeared and changed everything!
The Beach Boys also recorded without the studio add ons. If you watch them do Surfer Girl live in 1964 you would understand what I mean. (I still respect your opinion though)
The Bee Gees are obviously missing from this list! Have you ever heard Barry, Robin, and Maurice sing around one microphone? Live? with no overdubbing? Amazing!
Hit nail on head
Also missing is The Righteous Brothers' "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'".
When it comes to The Bee Gees, my favorite Bee Gees song is Nights on Broadway. Every time I hear that song, I always get a tear of joy in my eye. I don't always get that when I listen to music, but I do when I hear that song.
But are they Rock?
Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins too !!!
I know this is an unpopular opinion because there aren't many fans around today, but I think the Everly Brothers should be number one, or at least in the top five.
Those two were the kings when it came to harmonies in rock and roll, and many of these groups wouldn't be on the list if it wasn't for them.
You’re allowed to have your own opinion, but i think the Beach Boys earned their spot. Five and more people harmonizing together sounds very impressive.
soul sessions tv Bdhrh okay but like the beach boys could do five person harmonies without computer editing.... queen couldnt.... that’s the whole point of this video.
Eleanor Rigby I'm an 80s child and I love the Everly Brothers. Before my time but they are Number 1 on my list. They inspired most of the groups on this list in their harmony creations. Cheers!!
Mimai Everly Brothers and Beach Boys are tops.
They were early trailblazers. I had all their 45 rpm records...
The Everly Brothers had some of the beautiful harmonies ever sung.
Devoted to You, Love Hurts, Barbara Allen, Ebony Eyes, Silver Haired Daddy of Mine, Oh My Papa, Take a Message to Marry, ... these songs describe their easily recognized harmony.
"Kids of the B*by Boom" w*s ONE song liked by M*NY (including ME)
It's disingenuous to pick one, they were harmony
OOPS! I think this is the Bell*my Brothers - *nyw*y, "*ll I H*ve to do is Dre*m" IS (uh) good song
I Agree
One group that is often overlooked is "The Association" and their song "Cherish" among their other hits, always smooth harmonies -
I absolutely love them!! ❤️
The harmony part after the bridge of "Never My Love" by The Association is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard!
I prefer Along Comes Mary.
You really should have put The Beatles higher and added The Bee Gees! Their vocals were so distinct and absolutely fantastic
Byrds and Buffalo Springfield too... CSN&Y only Honorable mention??? YIKES
@Lúthien yeah bro your right
Yes on the Bee Gees, and truly the Beatles had a number of tunes that could qualify for this list.
@@Jamesdylandean Bee gees were the best
@@Jamesdylandean And Everly Brothers right behind them with Queen
Good vibrations is one of the most clever songs ever written . The orchestral/vocal arrangements and use of unusual instruments make it one of the greatest songs of all time.
Brian was pretty brilliant when he wasn't crazy; a genius of the kind Vincent Van Gogh was.
"Pocket Concerto."
And the structure of the song is as complex as any ever heard in pop music. Brian could construct songs unlike anyone else, and still can. Yes, Bee Gees should have been on the list. Moody Blues possibly, too. Four voices making a unique sound together.
most complicated song of all time had a ton of layers
POCO singing Rose of Cimmarron .... Feel like they should have been mentioned.
Good Vibrations most definitely deserved the #1 spot. That is one the most flawless pieces of music ever composed.
If it was my list almost all would be beach boys they were the first band to bring in 4 and 5 part harmonies even though good vibrations was the one that made it they were the first ones where it would take at least two to even get close to it
Beach Boys "In My Room" harmonies are to die for
Any song of the Beach Boys would have made the number one here. :)
I was so lucky to see them twice in Berlin. Great concerts.
BETTER YET , SURFER GIRL AWESOME HARMONIES ON THAT TRACK , UNMATCHED IN MHO
OMG... I get goosebumps every time I hear it.
@@Zimtbiss1 no argument. They are the gold standard. Them, then everyone else. The practiced to much and are THE paramount doo wop group. Everything they every sang is just dripping with those luscious harmonies.
Glad to see Alice In Chains featured. Staley and Cantrell came up with such unique harmonies for literally all of their songs.
How the BGs were not included in this list is beyond me!
The Bee Gees had some of the most amazing harmony the world will ever hear!
I know right? They were awesome!
I seriously can't believe they did not make the top 10. Bee Gees had great harmonies.
While I can't deny their true talent, I can't stand most of their music. Every time I hear one of their disco songs on the radio, or anyone else's for that matter, I have to immediately change stations. I know they they did a lot more than disco but I have never cared for their style of music. To each his own I guess.
@@grantrichards4950 The BeeGees (Brothers Gibb)really had two careers ........ long before the disco stuff, their songs like "To Love Somebody", "Massachusetts" and "Words", define brotherly harmony right up there with the Wilson and Everly Brothers !!!
@@jj811 its because it's a Rock Vocal Harmonies and the Bee Gees were more into disco. But they are amazing too
How about 3 brothers on one microphone? Barry, Maurice & Robin: “Too Much Heaven”. Big oversight.
Ahh Yuppp!
Yeah
Amen!! Can’t believe The Bee Gees didn’t make this list!!
Bee Gees were up there with Beach Boys harmony! Loves both ♥️♥️♥️
You can't have a list with out the Gibb brothers.
the everly brothers, simon and garfunkle, the beatles, and the beach boys were the ones where, after hearing them for the first time, i remember sitting there gobsmacked that someone could think of those musical harmonies. esp "good vibrations", it has such a haunting quality for all its peppiness
My Beatles harmony jam, "If I Fell." Of course, many more Beatles songs could have made this list.
Almost EVERY Beatles song should have made the list
This boooooooy
I was really expecting either nowhere man or this boy but *yknow* because works too
She’s leaving home should have been there
The Beatles tried to copy the Everly Bros.
In no particular order:
"Seven Bridges Road" - Eagles
"Scarborough Fair/Canticle" - Simon & Garfunkel
"Sounds of Silence" - Simon & Garfunkel
"God Only Knows"- The Beach Boys
"Dream" - The Everly Brothers
"Them Bones" - Alice in Chains
"California Dreamin'" - The Mamas and the Papas
"Good Vibrations" - The Beach Boys
"Helplessly Hoping" - Crosby, Stills and Nash
"Uncle John's Band" - Grateful Dead
"For Your Love" - The Yardbirds
And too many more to mention. These just strike my fancy. I love harmonization.
Them bones is nice but there are so many others that are better from AIC. The junkhead chorus is an eargasm. No excuses is so good. Again is purely wicked. Down in a hole, Rain when I die, etc...
This is excellent! I prefer Monday, Monday on a purely harmonic level tho.
Could also put Surf's Up. Don't Worry Baby., Disney Girls, or any other Brian Wilson magic.
Queen - Killer Queen
Seven bridges roads and good vibrations are my favorites
The Doobie Brothers would like to talk to you about their song, "Black Water".
Blackwater is more than a harmony, it's a round.
And Long Train Running
It doesn't get any better than the Doobie's "Black Water".
Yes.
The Fifth Dimension, "Aquarius/Let the Sunshine in", a must; worth-mentioning: 10cc, "I'm Not in Love", Mott the Hoople, "All the Young Dudes", The Kinks, "waterloo Sunset".
Other worthwhile mentions:
Bee Gees (New York Mining Disaster)
The Byrds (Eight Miles High)
Pink Floyd (Echoes)
The Del-Vikings (Come Go with Me)
Kansas (Dust in the Wind)
***** It's not really a harmony rather than just a mass chorus
Don't know if you've ever heard New York Mining Disaster but it's hardly disco. They did it before their disco phase. Or are you so dumb you didn't think to check the song out?
You didn't fact check before commenting but HE'S the idiot? Nah, mate
You seem to be in denial about the BeeGees more than anything else. Why is that? Did your mother look like Barry Gibb?
Umm.....They had a disco period for which they are most known, but they had a much more versatile sound than that. And, they had a career which spawned successful songs way before and after their disco era. So, it has nothing to do with blindness. Being ignorant happens to all of us, but I see a few people have already attempted to inform you of your misunderstanding. So, now you have the opportunity to know.
Also overlooked- The Hollies. They had some sweet harmonies !! Greatly inspired by the Everly Brothers.
Couldnt agree more. Beatles strived for 3 part harmony as good as the hollies. Check out "look through any window"
I came looking for this comment. I knew I couldn't be the only one onto them!! I so agree with you.
@@mikehawkins6508 can't let go is also a good one
Just One Look is incredibly underrated
The best harmony performed by a rock band has to be the Bee Gees. When they sang together, they sounded as one. Their harmonies are legend in the music industry.
They were not rock
Disco my guy
I agree. Their voices were a perfect blend.
@@Abegweit111 did you just agree with yourself?
@@cjm-jr9xk your not rock
I think the Righteous Brothers were excellent in numerous songs such as Rock and Roll Heaven. But, that's just me. There were so many harmonious songs you could probably have made a top 100 vocal harmonies.
The Traveling Wilburys anyone? Especially the song "End of the line"
My absolute, all time favorite song. I want "end of the line" playing at my funeral when I die.
Yes!!!
Absolutely! They were so incredible.
Nick Snyder YES!!!
Yeah..... except you can't count on Dylan not to be off key
Seven Bridges Road - Eagles. Not sure how you could take another Eagles song. Literally the entire song is one long beautiful harmony.
Agreed....kind of wondered the same thing.
Yes! That was my first thought, too.
Came here to say this...
I agree!!! That song is all tight harmony, without any solo part.
Agree. If you you've never heard it on a good Dts 5.1 system, you really should.
Doobie Brothers - Black Water - A mix of voices in several different ways that is hard to get out of your head.
The doobies are great
Black water is not just a harmony, it's the best rock "round" ever made.
Certainly miles ahead of #9 Alice in Chains - No excuses - simply not on the same level of sophistication
Moody Blues, Jackson 5, the Shangri-Las, Bee Gees, the Supremes, Sony & Cher, Temptations, Chad & Jeremy, Peter & Gordon. This list is impossible, there have been so many great harmonizing groups
I"ve never heard of some of these songs. For the older viewers - Just My Imagination by The Temptations, many songs by The Platters, and Mr. Sandman by The Chordettes.
Simon and Garfunkel - two of the best voices together - ever.
I especially love "Kodachrome"
I've always said that if they ever got back together, even for only 1 concert, I'd be there!
@@binkiejean64 I love that song as well but that's a solo Paul Simon song
Childhood friends.
The Everly Brothers probably inspired most of the harmonizers on this list. They are the gold standard.
Toto - Africa
REO Speedwagon - Keep On Loving You
Love Toto!
By far, The Eagles' Seven Bridges Road surpasses Lyin Eyes as a harmony masterpiece
Yes.
Yes, a great example of a capella harmony..... and LIVE! No do overs, just their near-perfection as a harmonic group.
Jackie Otway yes, I love Seven Bridges Road too.
Should have topped the list
Glad I scrolled down checking comments before making my own. I was going to point out how brilliant Seven Bridges Road is. Definitely better than Lying Eyes.
The Everely brothers were so perfect in harmony
Sandy Ellis Ellis So were the Everly Brothers as well
I agree, they laid down the harmonic style for all bands to come. The beatles said they were inspirations. The Bee Gees should have been in there over some of these new harmonies.
Im related to the everely brothers
I wish I could’ve liked this comment more than once!
I loved the song, you lost that loving feeling.
yo, electric light orchestra is pure genius. I'm surprised the millennials haven't "discovered" how cool they are yet. this was my favorite band as a child :)
Millennial here, most of us have heard ELO and will enjoy their music on occasion, I don't know any millennial or even gen-z kid who doesn't know mr blue sky and so many of their songs like roll over Beethoven and strange magic are in so many movies people would instantly know them. I personally have time of our life and don't bring me down on my most listened to playlist
How about Van Halen also
I would like to suggest The Beatles "Paperback Writer" .
Way ahead of their time.
Paul Bekanan Great Guitar riff
I agree.
Hell yeah
Nowhere man, this boy, think for yourself.. most of their songs really
The harmony vocals in it are spine chilling
For the Beatles, I would have chosen "Nowhere Man", but I can't argue with it too much.
I like the ending harmonizing of hey jude
I think nowhere man and paperback writer
I'd vote for "We Can Work Work It Out" for an honorable mention
This could’ve been all Beatles if we are being honest
Drive My Car? Two voices paired together like car horns. Brilliant.
The Beatles "Because" is a delightful surprise. One of the band's underrated gems. Also, did the Everly Brothers ever not make a song that isn't almost completely harmony?
In "Because" it was exclusively harmonies. 9 I believe. They triple tracked themselves. The Everlys were awesome, but they were playing guitars.
Double negative... When did they ever not make a song that isn't completely harmony? Oh, you fool.
Yes, they did a few. 'Yves' is just Phil until Don wails at the end. Nice song, too.
Carpenters also had great harmonies.
Thought of them too, immediately.
Agree with you.
Not exactly rock music though.
@@sampsonsimpson1040 The Beatles were not rock musicians either, but then again, most of the acts shown don't fit into that category.
@@philipmarsden7104 the Beatles most definitely were rock, amongst other things.
No Bee Gees?? Are you kidding me🤬
Absolutely
The Bee Gees weren't a Rock group

@@afreakaboucher1316 pop, rock is basically the same
@@johncooper7663 - so you are saying Katie Perry, Kylie, Beyonce are the same as the Rolling Stones, Led Zep, Ramones, Journey, Rainbow ! lol
@@scottishlisa3463 only difference between the Ramones and the Knack were lyrics and guitar tuning. Stones had pop songs. Angie. Led Zep was in its own world, I concede that.
"Never my Love" or "Cherish" by the Association - some of the best harmony ever in my opinion, is missing.
Don Travis Great pick, totally forgot about them.
You are correct brother!
Fantastic song 👌
so true, some of the best harmonies of all time
Don Travis! You're so right! I was just planning a song set and re listening to "Chrerish" "Never My Love' and "You've Got Your Troubles, I've got Mine" What harmonies and tight creative musicality!!!
For Simon And Garfunkel, they really should've used Scarborough Fair. Not some concert version, but the original. Take a listen to it and tell me if I'm wrong.
Oh, you're MORE th*n RIGHT! I've he*rd this M*NY times!
Agree 100%!
I just listened to that song. I do not know what was going on in the studio when they recorded this song. But. All I felt was Love! Amazing!!
The SONG they pl*yed w*s "Sounds of Silencce"
Scarborough Fair/Candice is amazing.
The everly brothers cathy's clown was one of this black 60's chick favorite songs forever. Great harmonies and the song was everything rock and roll, gospel, country, gospel, rhythm and blues and soul. Its Its timeless and I love their vocals and harmonies.
California Dreamin' is definitely one of the best ever.
True, the best is Brother Alice in Chains tho
Fleetwood Mac. .The Chain has the best harmony. Better than Go your own way.
I said the same thing. Christine Mcvie's vocals are perfect in between Stevie's and Lindsay's... Plus, you can really hear the vocal vibrato with Stevie and Lindsay...
I would've easily went with The Chain over any other Fleetwood Mac song. I think I would've went with Down in a Hole for Chains too.
You got the wrong Eagles song for harmonies -- should have been SEVEN BRIDGES ROAD.
I thought the same thing. How did they miss that?
Exactly! All the Eagles' songs feature incredible vocal harmony. I heard them live about 6 months before Glenn Frye died, and they were amazing! Just as good as they were 40 years ago and as good live as they are on record! Best concert I have ever attended!
Christopher Van Buren idk maybe because it isn’t an original? But def one of their best. I’ve sung it with a group and it took us quite a while to get it lined out. It’s just amazing.
Agreed
Same
The Hollies - The air that I breathe
You forgot the righteous bros. "youve lost that lovin feeling"! Should've been #1!
“Because” should have been higher, the harmony on that song is so tight
Just listened to the whole 50th anniversary Abbey Road album. The entire thing is tight - it's just very very very good. And from my POV, very very very enjoyable.
Alex Huey amen to that
100%
I would put it #2
It's an excellent song.
Yep... Anywhere in top three
This Boy is another good one
I think you missed one of the best vocal harmonies ever in TURN TURN TURN by the Byrds.
Right on --and not just Turn ! Turn ! Turn !
Yup. The Byrds are one of he best harmony groups ever.
My fave is If You're Gone with the gorgeous background shimmer.
Of course, Crosby's harmony singing with the Byrds was second to none!
God yes. Add Mr Tamborine man as well..
Bob bsing yes!, what an oversight! They were near perfect!
Also E.L.O. have some out of this world beautiful vocal harmony lines!
You didn't have The Bee Gees on your list.
It’s a rock and roll list, the new gees were predominantly a disco group
Aren't we missing the Hollies?
I still have "Stop Stop Stop!" On my iPod's!
VIDEOHEREBOB yeah thinking of song I'M Down great Harmony's I don't think they have enough credit
Hey video I see you on all the lou Gramm Vids. I'm gonna win live was amazing and outstanding
@@twosidestwoeverything6588 Yes, Lou Gramm is my biggest vocal influence. His vocals on I'm Gonna Win are beyond incredible. Still hoping he decides to teach voice on day.
You can't have a harmonies list without the Beegees surely.
Especially the 1960's Bee Gees
Are they rock&roll?
If the beegees aren't rock and roll how come they made it to the rock and roll hall of fame ???......I somehow feel this channel is biased against the beegees.....just my opinion.....
.
I can
Wow the influence Brian Wilson had on the Beatles and their “Because” is immediately recognizable!
Where are the bee gees? Talking about harmonizing!
The Platters and Drifters should have been on this list.
The Platters' "Only You" is hard to beat in vocal harmonies, as is the Drifters' "Under the Boardwalk", written by Carol King.
Absolutely
Agreed, except Carole wrote 'Up On the Roof'. 'Under the Boardwalk' was written by Kenny Young and Arthur Resnick.
... along with the Mills Brothers czcams.com/video/sztbEQFRzFI/video.html
The Everley Brothers were before my time. But, I love their harmonies and in innocent purity of their songs. Crosby Stills and Nash, how amazing...............I guess I pine for the sounds of the music before my time. All of these bands are tops................Harmony is something to be cherished in any venue!!!!!
I've HE*RD this song by The Everly Brothers, yet DID not KNOW it went 10 ye*rs BEFORE I st*rted LIFE
What? No Bee Gees? Best three part harmony ever! And no Righteous Brothers?
Could not agree more!
The Beatles where true masters of vocal harmonies
Yes but Beach Boys was better at harmonies
They got a lot of their harmonies from the HiLos and The Four Freshmen... Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons also had some great harmonies...
Fun fact you had a good sense of music like pitch but they actually do know how to truly play the instrument
A lot of the Beatles lesser known tracks had superb harmonies. "Misery", "There's a Place" and "Baby's in black" spring to mind. There is so much more to the Fab Four than many realise.
I was pleased to see Mamas and Papas included as they seem to have been largely forgotten since Cass went solo.
Not credible that something by The Bee Gees was left out. Come on, man.
The Bee Gees were everything but rock..
The Bee Gees were masters of harmonies before, during, and after the foray into disco. Maybe there were too many to choose from.
Carlo Dallapiccola I could not agree more.
Indeed! If Simon and Garfunkel were here, then the Bee Gees ought to have been.
The Bee Gees should absolutely be included
Styx - Lady
The Sweet - Fox on The Run
Kansas - Carry On My Wayward son
Head East - Never Been Any Reason
Uriah Heep - High Priestess
The Beatles - Eleanor Rigby
Wishbone Ash - Warrior
King Crimson - I Talk to the Wind
For Styx, I would pick *Renegade* with that beginning harmony.
Or maybe *Snowblind* for the ending harmonies...
I would probably swap Loreli for Lady with Styx. Otherwise good list.
Styx always had (and still out there) kickass harmonies. They are a band with 3 singers and songwriters. Every album has at least one or two standout 3-part harmonies.
You should've put The Four Seasons
Good point. i think The Four Seasons could have replaced more than one on that list.
Totally agree with that!
Generally agreed, with everyone on the list except The Bee Gees and The Association should have made it, and the Everly Brothers should've been #1. Not only did Don and Phil Everly harmonize perfectly, but they were in sync in their harmony as they changed to a new note. BTW: And they did it with one microphone and none of today's technologically superior sound equipment.
Definitely missed the BeeGees.
Limiting this to 10 was the first mistake. Leaving out Chicago, Three Dog Night, Hall & Oates, Earth Wind & Fire, Isley Brothers, Doobies, Steely Dan, Hollies, Four Seasons, among others... mistakes 2-10! There’s so much good music.
Everly Brothers , unbelievable voices
The Turtles "Happy Together"
The air that I Breathe with Hollies is for me one of the best harmony!
The Hollies were a good band, but lost more than stature when they lost their high harmony, Graham Nash. His following band has made some of the world's best harmony and music.
Layne Stanley........oh for fuck sake. It's pronounced Layne Staley
That silent, invisible n gets a lot of folks tripped up.
thank you for being just as upset about that as me
+voxextremos22 AND it's prounounced Fry, not Fray -- for Glenn Frey.
+Tassie G oh wow i hadn't even noticed. what the hell watch mojo!?
+Grave Robin I mean...you didn't notice either.
The beegees has some of the best harmonies ever they belong here on this list as much as the mama's and the papa's and the Beatles people think of the beegees as a disco group and forget about all of their great 60s early 70s songs. No respect for this amazing group
If you were looking for harmony, I can't believe the Bee Gee's were no where to be found!
Exactly. Six decades of pure harmony and not one mention??????? IMO somebody screwed up badly.
Agree..the players "baby come back" deserves an honorable menti0n!
They're not rock
@@hiseverest9074 yeah they are, they were inducted into the hall of fame, and their disco time was only 1975-1979, they had many rock hits from the 60s to the 00s
"Layne Stanley," are you serious?
Jerry Graham swear

I had the same reaction
I couldn't believe it. The first time he said it I thought I heard him wrong, but then he said it again. I'm disappointed with Watchmojo.
@@yuritarded4774 I was just about to type the same. And he says it twice!
I guess Because was a good choice for The Beatles, but i really like Nowhere Man as well....the harmonies on it are beyond amazing
+iSynthh I don't know. My 10-year-old daughter and I can do the "Nowhere Man" harmony (we actually performed it), but we haven't been brave enough to tackle "Because". Also, "Because" is nuthin' BUT harmony, whereas "Nowhere Man" has a lot of solo. (I know that's not a requirement...just my feeling on it).
They're both great!
Karen Fahel but perfected down to the beatles' standard? To each their own I guess, I love both of them too Alex...they had countless great harmonic songs
+iSynthh My favourite Beatles song! The Beatles like the Beach boys & Crosby Stills & Nash had a lot of songs that could have been here
+iSynthh If I Fell has some awesome harmonies too
Mojo you are marvelously spot on. In my bands over the last 30 years we often focused on songs like these and have done 7 or your 10! New Kid In Town won a special Grammy award that year for best vocal arrangement, an award no longer given. (b.t.w. Glenn Frey's last name is pronounced "Fry" not "Fray"). A few you left out are: Uncle John's Band by Grateful Dead; Carry On by C,S,N,Y; Africa by Toto; and so many more by the Beach Boys (God Only Knows; Warmth Of The Sun; Wouldn't It Be Nice) and Beatles ( Paperback Writer; In My Life; This Boy).
The Everly Brothers walk right back, good as it gets. Awm
It really is!!
How could you guys not include Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons!?
Honestly
The Four Seasons deserve an entire video for themselves. I saw them live in 1966.
@@PALINSMITH Yeah right, they never mentioned seeing you. And even though your story sounds pretty far fetched, if you did see them of course they were live.
@@edwardmclaughlin719 In college 1967 Storrs, CT. I also saw Ray Charles, The Four Tops, The Youngbloods, etc. The college circuit was a good place to see popular groups at a decent price.

:songs from the Bee Gees.
You seriously forgot the 60s group the Hollies esp. the amazing harmonies on "Carousel"
Bee Gees "How do you mend a Broken Heart" is one my music teacher loved in the 70s, and predicted they would go far, and they did!
Art Garfunkel can hormonise with a blender. He is a legend
LOL!!!!
*Let's ask Paul Simon what he thinks of Art's voice..."He has a perfect counterpart to my natural key"*( *He also says for some years now "When I was 12...I created a 'Frankenstein's Monster' of my own when I gave life to Art's voice"* ) *"We been arguing since "Tom & Jerry"...sometimes more and sometimes less...and we had a helluva' lot of good times too in the '60's like everyone else did...but I'm a 'supreme egotist' and so is Art...the difference is he doesn't know it and I do... and when I look back now, I was happier 'busking' street-corners in London by myself before "Bridge..." became a 'Hit'*
@@gerrynightingale9045 they both need to get over themselves before they die.
*That'll NEVER happen!* ( *Simon's health is so poor he could 'clock-out' any day...and I don't think he'll mind because music's been his whole life and he can barely sing now...and 'AG' doesn't seem to give a fuck about much of anything anymore either...that shmuck was a first-class ASS-HOLE to Laurie Birdand let her die without so much as "I'm sorry" to her* ) ( *she was "The Girl" in the movie "Two Lane Blacktop" and would've been a 'Star' w/o 'AG' in her life ,pissing-on her looks and talent...he just couldn't stand the idea she wanted an identity of her own, like Sinatra with Mia Farrow* )
Paul Simon's voice is lovely but Art sings like an angel.
Have you ever heard of Chicago?
Hard for Me to Say I'm Sorry. Perfect!
+ Lalechugadeldia Yeah, last I heard they were in fifth place.
Chicago was about the instrumental side.
ya, turn left at Detroit and you'll notice it on your right
Yup! "Make me Smile" would qualify from Chicago.
More please .... There are so many good harmonies out there surely you can find more than 10 !!!
thank you thank you thank you👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🎶🎵🎶🎶🎵🎶
The Hollies has to be in the top 10! Just One Look .... Look Through Any Window ...... Carrie Anne ..... Carosel.
I would put the Hollies at #3 behind the everly brothers and beach boys.
And can't forget "Stop, Stop, Stop"
Helplessly Hoping by Crosby Stills and Nash may be the most perfectly harmonized song ever
Good point. That is an awesome song. 😎
That entire Crosby, Stills, Nash debut album has the best vocal harmonies on it. I bought that album and turned all the lights off lit a blunt and let it play and it changed my life. Favorite album all time.
Why is Peter, Paul and Mary not included in this list?
exactly. They did wonderful harmonies. Better than the Mamas and papas by far.
I agree, this list is bullshit. I love Queen, but their sound was studio created. Alice in Chains??? Get real. I agree with the rest, particularly the Everly Brothers, Beach Boys, and of course the Beatles....but where are the Bee Gees?
Agreed..
I say Peter, Paul and Mary were folk singers and not Rock. No doubt, there harmonies were incredible.
Righteous Brothers!
Not sure why this old video popped up in my recommended but glad it did. I loved The Beach Boys. They had some of the best FAST DRIVING songs a teenager could ask for. Lucky I made it through my teen years. Lol.
Excellent list. However, The Righteous Brothers perfect pairing of Bill Medley's baritone with Bobby Hatfield's Tenor on "Lovin' Feeling" belongs on it. Thank you.
RIP Goose
My sentiments exactly and I just finished posting that very thing; leaving out 2 wonderful talents like The Righteous Bros. was excruciating to watch. "Soul & Inspiration" is another great one from Bobby & Bill.
Karen Kristine was going to point out same thing
Totally agree with all of these people. How on earth could you leave out The Righteous Brothers? Any one of their songs belong here.
Yes, it certainly does belong at the top of the list, my opinion.
I was in middle school when All I Have To Do Is Dream came out, that is THE song that taught me harmonies! They were ground-breaking back in those days, they should be number ONE here for their influence on pop music in general!
I know it's mostly singing but how about the "Blue-eyed Soul" of the Righteous Brothers on "You've Lost that Lovin' Feeling" ?
This is one of the better Watch Mojos I’ve seen. Good analysis and back stories.
"In My Room" by the Beach Boys was one of my favs for harmony.
Awesome recording!
I only agree with the list because The Beach Boys are at the top.
The beach Boys have harmony fantastic harmonies. I know just 3 BB's songs without vocal harmonies : girl don't tell me, Caroline no and busy doin' nothin'
Suite: Judy Blue Eyes and California Dreaming. Yup
I'd vote for The Righteous Bros. "You've Lost That Loving Feeling"!!!
Three Dog Night when all three were in the group. Saw them do perfect 3 part harmony live. Hall and Oates have done some incredible ones. War Babies and Abandoned Luncheonette albums. Saw the Turtles blasting harmonies perfectly live about 30 years ago. Can't beat Beach Boys. Love their Time To Get Alone. Good Timin and the popular ones too. I had a rare acapello CD called Perfect Harmony from the Beach Boys. Vocal only cuts fantastic. Never saw another one anywhere. Cowsills live is still great today! 3 part harmony! Bee Gees is perfection but so stylized just to them. Beatles great close harmony but stylized to them. Sounded Beatles but great! ELO did perfection in the studio. New England did an album full of perfect harmony. Eagles of course did a lot of perfect harmonies but almost to subtle. Boston did studio perfection harmony. Some of Uriah Heeps stuff had great harmony. I had a rare acapello CD called Perfect Harmony from the Beach Boys. Vocal only cuts fantastic. Never saw another one anywhere.
If we're going to put a Beatles song on this I think "This Boy" would've fit a bit more. If you haven't heard that song, do that right now. It's majestic.
***** I'm always in Flavortown.
***** Flavortown is a safe space for all ethnicities.
***** Always my child.
Or If I Fell
Was just about going to mention This Boy by the Beatles. A harmonic masterpiece!
The Beatles' "This Boy" also has one of the best harmonies I've ever heard.
dat boi...
I'm sorry
And Yes It Is
And Because
Or Baby's in Black.
Absolutely agree! Oddly enough, everyone thought about McCartney as the balladeer, but the best harmony songs were Lennon... This Boy, Because, Yes It Is.
I'm old don't forget the fifties, the Platters, Gene Chandler, and all the do-op groups had some of the best vocal harmonies ever.
Lyin' Eyes is one of my all time favorite songs by The Eagles--along with Desperado. I love good lyrics with good harmonies. Simon and Garfunkel should be higher on the list. Scarborough Fair was another really good one. Almost all my favorites are on this list, if not in the order I'd list them.
Let's not forget: New Kid In Town which won a Grammy for Best Vocal Arrangement when it came out (an award no longer given); and No More Walks In The Wood.
Cool fact: The Everly Brothers were one of The Beatles' main inspirations
And Simon & Garfunkel's come to that.
The Mighty Keith Richard talks about The Everly Brothers and state they were a Big influence on him ¡😎¡
So was Chuck Berry at a higher rate. John Lennon acknowledged it.
and for Simon & Garfunkel also.
Always, Ask the other contestants. Who wrote this? And we can never forget Peter, Paul and Mary
