Love this house, recently discovered it and its phenomenal
I love not just to hear the fragrance discourse but also the history, stories, the people behind them. ❤️👍
Thanks! I really think that's all part of it.
same
Here's one that I like, nay, love: Maharadjah. A very elegant cinnamon-oriental in the vein of Jaipur Homme but more elegant. It's discontinued now.
For me, apart from NY Intense the real standouts are Patchouli Homme and Cologne Sologne. However, I feel she's on a roll, with the oud releases (Incense Oud is very engaging), Cap Neroli and now Neroli Intense.
You could try also Cuir Cuba Intense, a floral chic unisex leather with light touches of blond tobacco. A good alternative to floral leathers like Cuir Cannage, Cuir de Russie, or Cuir Mauresque.
The current New York EdT is less talked about, but a commendable summer alternative to New York Intense.
There are some I don't like as much or are too femme for me, but nearly everything I've tried is very good quality: refined, complex, abstract, and not unfinished, and finally all pass the Guy Robert smell test with flying colours.
Patricia de Nicolaï is the president of Osmotheque and is known to be generous with her time there.
I've gone through 30 ml of New York Intense, going through another 30, and have another 200 ml at least.
If this brand were priced on the same scale as other so-called 'niche' brands, then all these perfumes would cost at least three times as much.
Invasion barbare and new york intense are my two favorites fragrances of all time!!! Depending on my mood i reach for either , IB I usually wear in summer warmer days and ny for dressier or colder days . Just two masterpieces imo
This has been in my list for a while.. I'm enjoying all these 'oakmossy' perfume reviews from you two - one of my favourite base materials. So thank you both very much! I sometimes sniff the absolute as it is and sometimes with labdanum and sandalwood! :)
Great discussion fellas. This has been in my cross hairs for a while now. The trigger will be pulled soon! I wasn't aware of the shop in London so thanks for the Intel👍
Came back to this review. I need to add this to my collection still, it's amazing. I finally acquired Malle's Noir Epices and it reminded me of this soapy goodness
NY Intense is a fantastic fragrance. Love your channel. Peace
Thanks!
Good reviews guys, my sotd is Lagerfeld Cologne (1978), great scent, I recommend it
A classic!
I got and love New York Intense, for me it's somewhat like the ultimate masculin scent! My father, whos A azzaro pour homme user since 1980 felled in love immediately with it!
DerRalle 2ZG it’s absolutely part of that tradition.
Curios, is this similar to Azzaro Pour Homme? I have APH and love it but curious how close this is and if the acquisition would be considered redundant at all?
@@haisem1 No Not really
Guys, the video seems to be nice, but the sound is so hard to follow. Too bad :(
great review :D but gents can you please do something or change places where there is less echo
I get many compliments from this one
Thank you for your great review, as well as relevant discourse about Patricia Nicolai. I agree this is a tremendously elegant, refined, and complex fragrance. On my skin I get a fairly distinct powdery undertone that you did not mention. I notice when sprayed on a paper strip, I detect much less of the powder note. Any thoughts about where that is from in the perfume components?
Interesting, I’ve never experienced any hint of powdery quality. A powder quality can sometimes come from things like Iris (or orris root) or aldehydes, neither of which I get in NYI. Perhaps it’s the combination of lavender and oakmoss which some people refer to as ‘shaving foam’, although I don’t really get that vibe here.
@@WaftsfromTheLoft Thank you. Yes, iris was the first thing to come to mind for me but it's certainly not a listed component. Well it may be one of those olfactory illusions for my nose...? Cheers.
@@WaftsfromTheLoft Hello and thank you. Today was my first full day's wearing of NY Intense. One spray in the morning before work was very sufficient. I would ask you to please revisit to see if you notice the powdery undertone I'm dedintely getting. At the end of the day today mostly what I experienced was a soft cloud that was affirmatively and primarily characterized by a slightly sweet, even almondy powderiness, maybe with a hint of the residual spices. When I got home, just to get another opinion, I had my wife smell my decolletage and she said the smell reminded her of a women's powderoom. So my nose is not totally fooling me.
Will you review Guerlain Santal Royale.....my favourite what do you think?
I absolutely adore this fragrance, but my loved one down right hates it. She finds it appalling, And I just don’t get it! It’s beautiful, elegant, dignified cultivated, sophisticated, etc., but some how, she can’t be in the same building as me if I’m wearing it. It’s a shame, because I would buy in a heartbeat. Now, I can just sit by myself with my cat, inhaling the fumes from my dried up sample. Better than nothing I suppose.
Thanks for a lovely video as always!
Cheers from Sweden 🇸🇪
I’m sorry to hear that!
Pontus Widegren I think you should give more credence to your wife’s opinion.
Yesss
I just picked up a 30ml of this, and it’s gorgeous. What are your thoughts on Cuir Cuba Intense?
It’s a great quality fragrance. For my taste I found it little too sweet, but I know that’s not the case for a lot of people.
Do you see connections to Bois du Portugal, the first part of heritage? Which one do you prefer, including original NY?
Yes, that's a good comparison; i'd pick NYI
guys, where the heck can i get a sample? i want to buy it after seeing your video but rather smell it first...they dont have a great presence in the UK.. i tried to buy a sample but most are from US
They have a shop on the Fulham road. You could get in touch and see if they sell samples. I know they do a Discovery Set it samples, but I think that’s about £30
@@WaftsfromTheLoft cheers mate..lovely to see different approach to reviewing frags...
You should try the new PdN, Bois Belize
Love Bois Belize Intense
What do you think of Tiffany for Men?
step coop I’ve never tried it actually
Naxos vs Herod vs red tobacco vs Pure Havane - which is d best pick
Red tobacco is trash 🗑️
Love this fragrance and this house! Have a "vintage" (blue label) non intense version of this which is a plain masterpiece. I sampled many of her offerings, and although not all of them are completely my thing (Maharadjah intense and Cuir Cuba Intense for example) the all just ooze quality and elegance. Besides NY(I) I personally think Odalisque, Vie de Chateau Intense and Patchouli Intense are also masterpieces from this house.
Yes, I found the liquorice in Cuir Cuba a bit much.
Nice intro.
'New York intense' is good, but too "safe" for me. For my personality 'Patchouli intense' suits better.
I know what you mean. Patchouli intense is fantastic, and I think they share a lot of the same dna
@@WaftsfromTheLoft I think, all Nicolai fragrances have own dna. Like Jovoy, Guerlain, Tauer and other great brands. I like that.
P.S. excuse me my broken english :)
Oh echo is spoiling everything
Too much echo in every video I have seen from you guys. Maybe you should buy a new recorder or use a different room.
Great Loft, great echo :)
Nice, ok, but too expensive for what you get, definetely would not by another bottle, better buy capucci pour homme or lalique! Performance so so
“Smells old” is not an apt description. Geriatric is a better word.
Recently blind bought this. Dreadful. Smells old and dated.
