Love this!💕💕💕
How beautiful this is ! Wonderful work by these young musicians , never get tired of Tielman Susato, the Flemish composer . Joyous and triumphant music of the 16th century.
Sehr schön in dieser Zeit junge Menschen zu hören, die gute Musik machen
Wonderful! Well done the conductor, the musicians and the AV crew for putting this performance on CZcams.
Bassoons sounded wonderful on the fourth movement. Nice job.
OMG can’t believe I found this great video! Since my time in our school orchestra in the late 80th I’m looking exactly for these pieces of music. I thought I will never hear them. Thank you so much!!! On the end I was playing first trumpet but, especially the first piece, I remember as 8t was yesterday, but actually is almost 30 years ago, I was playing 3rd trumpet
we reach new skies with this music, just awsome
Would sound amazing on period instruments
It does. Go find the David Munrow performance from EMI - it's on CZcams - and you can hear how wonderful it is. Great sound and much more alive performance than even this one.
I think this performance brings new life to Praetorius. I like this and I like hearing it on period instruments. Wynton Marsalis likes to point out about different arrangements, "If you play it, it's yours."
He also likes to point out that composers of the day weren't as orthodox as we might imagine. I think Praetorius himself would be thrilled with this arrangement and to know his music was still being played.
It sounds amazing _here_.
I love this music
CZcams, why would you put an ad in the middle of one of the movements?
Row, row your boat.
A Man For All Seasons, right.

Ronde & Aliud
Wish I could get this on CD

The arrangement and the performance is wonderful!
Does someone know, where you by this arrangemend?
This arrangement is by Dr. Patrick Dunnigan (Florida State University).
Three years late in replying however...
Susato, Tielman. F. J. Giesbert, ed., Danserye "zeer lustich ende bequaem om spelen op alle musicale Instrumenten", Mainz: Schott's Sohne, 1936.
This complete edition is in modern notation, originally published as four parts in 1551, and consists of two books. Book one contains the Basse Danssen, Ronden, and Branlen. Book two contains the Deutsche Tänze, Pavanen, and Galliarden. I believe it has never gone out of print but there is always Alibris or Abe Books on line...or that 'other' place.
Not to be over critical, but most of the timing issues would be corrected if about half the ensemble raised their music stands. Most performers are "looking down" on their music and therefore are not watching the conductor adequately. Regardless of the height of the performer, the conductor's beat pattern should be just above the top level of the music stand. Then the players only have to glance up /down with their eyes when going from the music to the conductor (and vice versa)
The players are really good and there are some fantastic sounds here. i don't think the leadership is very inspiring or that the voicing is well done. This is the best performance of this arrangement I've heard, but there's room for it to be better. The Munrow performance on old instruments (you can find it on CZcams) is so much better.
Some times they miss the beat , but in general great orchestral sound to be a students Ensemble.
The looks on the other players faces around 16:00 when the ob and Cl are out of tune as well as out of sync! 🤥
Il y a des gens capables de danser là-dessus ? C'est idiot. Il y a assez de musiques écrites pour ce type d'orchestre. Pourquoi allez déranger le pauvre Susato ?!
Awful.
