It's just a straw for people to grasp on. There is so much imagery out there that could easily be used or created specifically for dat models that it doesn't matter who gets sued or what happens with these court cases. We saw the same things play out over and over again, even over CZcams's own copyright negotiations with media companies.
Just adapt to it. Trust me, it isn't going away.

    • @ghost4439
      @ghost4439 Před rokem +9

@dio I know it's not going away. But it should at least be properly regulated. Like the copy right systems that protect music from ai. Ai music only allowed to train their ai with copyright audio. Visual artists deserve protection to. There's no "adapting" to this case ai art wasn't made to help traditional artist. Just for exploitation.

I’m not going to sit here and say that the content it is producing isn’t cool, but It’s biggest illusion is that it’s doing something new. It’s doing exactly what we have been doing for years only faster.
With the advances we have in most creative apps today, most artists/ designers can do what the AI can in hours. Everyone keeps wanking over AI art, have you seen the work that most real artists/ designers can create? It’s not like we’re taking months to produce pieces over here.
I have seen people talking about how It can write an essay on a topic in seconds, students in secondary school can do this shit, not in seconds but they are trained to doing it in hours for exams.
It’s cool and all that, but we must stop acting like it’s doing something new. Writing, drawing, animation etc is nothing new. Even the tool itself is an unoriginal concept being based off humans, why are we surprised by what it’s producing?

With the pop up of Ai, and the ability for everyone to "create" this profressional, crisp artworks, does it mean anything to be at that level anymore? Anyone could do if they just made a Midjourney account. So what's the point of paying Ai users? Wouldn't that make the art worthless now?

no. IF the ai is able to create something indistinguishable from a master artist, without being trained on ANY laundered data, that is fair play. i assure you, artists will deal with that problem internally IF that is ever achieved.

Already the base module is nearly retrained and a lot of other modules like the joke about the Zoo where the Donkey spoke to the Zebra and said he "Ain't LAION"! - that is they had nothing to do with standard web browsing mining. Created with public domain sources and for $ public galleries such as clipart sites that -gasp- yes DID allow automated machine learning and other loose enough language to allow this.
They'll just keep claiming its "Theft" again and again and again while the real issue is "It turk ur jurrb!"
BTW - these are just "Fashionably Radical" types - they don't DARE take on the real likely origin: Adobe systems...
      czcams.com/video/dD9vpO2zaJw/video.html
"Just one man's opinion" - but to argue it this was ready and running when most people IF they knew about AiARt thought it was that Google thing that gave bizarro corgi and eyes... At least 6 months.
At least one has made a video on this:
      czcams.com/video/pH2LDENz8RY/video.html
The tools were developed way before most knew what AIart was. But these "Fashionably Radical" types aren't going to take on Adobe even though they had a checkmark clicked allowing them to use including commercially their images. A lot didn't have subscriptions so if they tried for $.001 in royalty payments via a class action Adobe would look up records of who was subscribed and take thousands.

@@jeggsonvohees2201 I think you have mis-characterized a group of professionals who - most of the time - are working quietly behind the scenes without speaking out about anything. Perhaps that's why you are finding it so jarring that they are speaking out now - "making a fuss" - as you call it. that's really trivializing what is going on here. I say you're not giving these people enough credit.
      I'm a student of history.
When the 2d animation industry was cut in half at the introduction of 3d, 2d animators did not throw protests or anything of the sort. No crime or violation had been committed. they just got on with things and did their best to adapt and live their lives. Some of them re-trianed as 3d animators, others went into advertising or television instead of feature films..
I heard that some artists were concerned when photoshop started being taken seriously, but ultimately, did not throw a big hooha.
Sculpture and pottery were massively impacted with 3d printing and injection mould printing. The craftsmen ONLY protested when their designs were being straight up COPIED by chinese manufacturers who paid no royalties to the original designers they stole from. Other than that, hey just got on with things, and adapted as best they could.
We have had dozens of major industry shifts in the history of animation, and in the history of art. History indicates that artists do not speak out unless they have been seriously exploited, such as in this case. We have not had an IP heist on a scale as large as this one.

@@HowardWimshurst I don't find it jarring at all, as its happened before. As you pointed out every time there's a new technology that can change the landscape of art there's a large group of people who get scared and rail against it. This is just the latest wave.

Honestly, you should be making videos on how to use AI art as a reference and other ways to use it to your advantage rather than complaining about people advancing technology. AI art isn’t going anywhere. There will always be a place for traditional artists and those who refuse to stay ahead of the curb are going to be unemployed. In conclusion, you’re doing your fellow artists a disservice
