- This is my daily driver; I commute about 45 miles a day to work. So, after 14 years of everyday use, how is this 2007 Jeep Wrangler JK holding up? Follow along as I go through the history of this 1st year 2007 Jeep JK Wrangler Unlimited, and how it's been such a great rig after my 14th year of building and driving it...

I have an 07 wrangler Sahara with 146k on the odometer. Love it. Have no desire to get a new vehicle. Smiles per gallon not miles per gallon. I’ve got 35s 3” lift and I couldn’t be more happy. Not the best highway rig but when you hit the trails and go camping, it’s so perfect. Fits on any trails. Never let’s me down. Even when broken you can always limp her home.
Yeah their great…love mine too. 35’s are the perfect size. I try to take mine out and camp as much as I can. Yeah not great for mileage but who cares? I drive mine to work everyday…I’ll never get rid of it. Enjoy your rig bro…
I have 2011 identical version, except hardtop. Silver, unlimited, roof rack. I only get 11-12 mpg as well and I have stock front and rear bumpers. 33 inch tires, and 2.5 inch lift. Engine just died a month ago with a little over 150,000 miles on her. She's in the shop now getting a new/rebuilt Jasper engine. I hope she'll be like new after that and give me many many more years of trouble-free service.
Thanks for the video. You did a great job keeping yours running and looking great all these years.
I've got a 2013 jeep wrangler sport. I've had it 3 months now and love it. I've done somethings too it and still upgrading on it. It's got the soft top 3.6 V6 6speed and a 2 door. Love it.
i got a daily driver 07 jeep wrangler X 2 door , got it for 12k fully stocked with a gang of modifications i recently hit 180,000 miles i’ve only replaced the battery and alternator so far, only other issue is the water pump and o2 sensor other than that this baby is running smooth as butter. nice jeep bro.
I just bought a single owner 2007 4 Door JK Hard Top from an older genetleman. It has 61,000 miles on it and it is the 6 speed manual. Clutch is as smooth as butter. And when I tell you the interior and exterior are flawless, I mean it has no sun fading, no ripped seats, no scratches. Nothing. Its all bone stock too, no lift or bumpers. He sold it to me for $13,000 and I am still p**ping my pants over this needle in a haystack especially for the price. Best thing is that I did not have to go into debt to get a nice Jeep.
Nice!,…an 07 with 61,000. Snagged that one…jeez and immaculate… you got lucky on that one bro! Enjoy it and hold onto it…👍
How you liking it so far? I'm eyeballing a '07 with only 65k miles
Haven’t had a problem with it…
Got an 08 with 29,000 miles. Mint condition one owner. Paid $16k. So far it’s been a good jeep.😊
@@Deltron6060I have one 140k 07 unlimited and it gets a major problem I’d say every 10k miles.
So glad I came accross your vid as I’ve seen to much negative comments on the 3.8 from those running the 3.6, which after my research, seems the 3.6 has its own set of issues, more complex and expensive
I have an 08 Jeep Rubicon JKU 3.8 liter with the 4 speed auto, factory Dana 44's with 4.10 gears. 35x12.50x17 tires with 3.5" lift. I get 15.5 mpg manually calculated at each fill up. I'm not relying on the dash mileage display, I calculated myself so I know it's legit, MPH also confirmed by GPS and I've got front and rear bumpers, heavy duty hinged tire carrier, winch, etc so it's got some added weight and still gets 15.5 mpg at 65-70 mph. You're better off with the JScan app for tire calibration and trans shift points along with everything else. Shows you your trans, t-case, diff temps, etc. Also allows you to toggle on high idle (1650 RPM) for winching, toggling on electric fan at will, TPMS adjustments, headlight, driving light adjustments and so much more. Best part is it's only $24 for the license fee and it's all yours, works on the fly on your phone.
The 3.8 liter isn't a powerhouse by any means, however it's a very reliable conventional OHV pushrod engine. When taken care of they can hit the 300,000 mile mark. Mine is decent with the auto trans, factory 4.10 gearing with the 35's, however I think 4.88's would be ideal with the 3.8, auto and 35's.
My 3.8L has 240k+ on it. She uses a little oil, but runs pretty good still.
Nice! Man I’m at 188, 240k is awesome…you’ve taken good care of her…thx Mark!
At 9:11 you mentioned that you were given a 4.10 gear ratio upgrade. I just bought my first car ever, a 2007 Sahara 2dr with 101k miles. She was very well taken care of, and I've been doing loads of research while I wait for the dealership to finish fixing some small issues we found when combing over the Jeep.
The Jeep I just got has this 4.10 gear ratio upgrade, as I've found on the build sheet. She's running 99% stock. What does that gear ratio upgrade do for me that the base one can't?
Great sounds like a nice rig with low miles. About re-gearing, If you do a lot of highway driving on small to mid sized tires, it may be practical to regear to a taller setup to increase your top speed and fuel economy. If you are planning on doing a lot of off-roading or are only upgrading to a larger set of tires, like 35's, you should probably install shorter gears. But if you are running stock tires I think the 4.10's should be fine.
Great video buddy thank you I just bought a 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Somebody fully stocked like yours. 2 questions how many miles do you have on you have on your Jeep and how can I tell if I have to Dana 4:10s
Hey sorry about the late reply. I have 162,000 miles on my 07. Here's a good vid for ya. Also look on the diff cover sometimes there is a tag that will tell you ratio. Or it may be stamped in the diff cover. Otherwise u will have to pop of the diff cover and look on the ring gear and divide teeth. Hey that's a great year. Great base to build on. One upgrade at a time bro. Good luck and I hope this helps. Thx for the comment and visiting the channel...

@@ETERNITYISHERE anytime man thx
No prob …
Where are you located? I'm in Fair Oaks, 2008 JKU. I daily mine as well.
Cool! A Local guy… I’m up in Lakehills by Salmon falls road. Back of El Dorado hills. Come wheel with us sometime 👍.
I might trade my 11 g37x coupe for an 07 rubicon 2 door with a bunch of upgrades and recently rebuilt motor tomorrow. What you think? 135k miles on g37, 174k on jeep. Silver jeep blue g37. Oh and the g37 is auto and jeep is a 6 speed manual
Do I need to change gear ratio for 33 inch tires?
Just bought one with 134k on it, it's in beautiful condition, do you have a motor oil you like, or just what's on sale?
Hey JB, I use Pennzoil high mileage synthetic 5w 20. Mine just hit 170k, still runs 👍 great…enjoy your new rig
I've been using Castrol full synthetic, with Purolator Boss filter, and BP fuel cars humming smooth driving, just made 184k no issues..
Nice!
What’s the average MPG? Thinking of buying an 07-08 models just curious about the gas, thanks in advance
Mine gets 11 mpg, but it’s totally built and heavy with 35” tires. I think it got around 16 to 17 mpg before all the modifications…
I'm getting 19 mpg, and that's with a 4inch lift. and 37 inch tires.
@@jasongarcia7674 how you do it?
What gear ratio you running , that's crazy good mpg
I’m getting 25 mpg on the highway cruising at 55 mph.
In City I baby it and get 18 mpg.
All factory no modifications.
That’s damn good…
What suspension upgrades you did for a highway driving?
I just stuck with the rubicon express 3 1/2 inch lift…that’s enough for a daily driver… I adjusted the shift points with the 35’s…this made a big difference in mileage…
I used the super chips module that plugs into your OBD port…you can adjust the tranny for running larger tires…And it will compensate for whatever gear ratio you have. Other than that…
regular fox shocks, nothing special really…it’s a good solid DD, daily driver…hope this helps…
Pro tip put the d-rings on the front that’s how you should get pulled out
I got a 2007 as well. How do you change cabin air filter

Here’s a quik vid from a friend of mine, hope it helps…
@outboundterrain6454 I got a 2007 jeep wrangler jk unlimited x. His jeep is probably a newer model. I don't have tabs. I had to rip the crap out mine. Just to get into it. Went all caveman on it lol
Looking at a 2007 rubicon with 140k miles. He’s wanting 11k for it but it’s got a valve cover gasket leak, lockers won’t lock, sway bar won’t disconnect, and ac needs work. Other than that it looks like it’s in very good condition. Do you think it’s a fair price?
It’s a 2 door btw. I’ve had TJ’s just never a jk, I’m not sure about the 3.8l motors.
07 with 14k for 11K... I'd buy the fing thing. Valve cover gaskets are 30 bux. A/c needs work or recharge? as long as you're not in the Serengeti, Fix that later...Lockers won't lock? The factory rubi lockers are pretty reliable, wiring, bad switch? I hardly ever use my lockers, Sway bar disconnects. It comes down to what you are going to use your jeep for. Hardcore Rubicon trail runs, or more tame stuff. Overall good price.
I have 2 TJ's, 4.0 awesome powerplant. The 3.8's are ok, but it's all about maintenance. My 07 has 180k--but I am meticulous with maintenance. I drive it everyday . love it. Take care of it and it will take care of you...
How many miles are on the odometer?
178,000
How do you open the trunk
There’s a handle just like the doors.
My 07 has 180 k runs good and only issue was changing the water pump
Cool, mileage wise that’s where I’m at…I changed mine out too…no biggie. Mine is running fine too…Enjoy your rig
Any issues with the Transmission?
Actually no, it’s been great… just hit 180,000
How many miles on it.
188,000
WE DON'T NEED NO STINKING CARPET
NOPE! No stinking carpet...
