It was such a nice touch that you done this in memory of my mother. When she was in the hospital she would laugh and smile about your stories, even when she was in pain. She spoke of you very highly and I can totally see why! Your poem about her was lovely and me and my 2 sisters both appreciate it a lot. My mother shared the same love of nature and wildlife like yourself. May she rest in peace.
Thank you so much for being so thoughtful towards me at a time when you must all be hurting the most from the loss of your wonderful Mum. You were all the most important people to her in her life and she would be so, so proud of the way that you are managing and dealing with this overwhelming sadness. It is a lovely gift from The Fates to have a friend from your childhood. So very special. I have a few from my student days and here we are now with grey hair, we have lost three or four and they are missed, but at least we had each other in our golden years. Lovely vlog this week. Thank you.

Watching your videos is like stepping into a Time Machine, and traveling back through the centuries, and your narratives bring us into what the lives of the “Everyman” citizens were like. The waterways in all their iterations, literally carried the life blood of a nation. Thank you for another tender delicate vlog. You bring calm to this viewer. I find one of the most amazing things about your narrowboat lifestyle is how it forces you to slowdown. You “cruise” at the same speed as the original canal boats pulled by horses and mules. Cyclists and joggers pass you by! You are truly living in another time. I can.t imagine the impact this has on your lifestyle but I’m sure it’s huge.

Funnily enough i have just bought some lesser celandine as it holds fond memories for me of old friends that i lost through covid. Two of whom i had known since i was in the cubs, that was 62 years ago.

I love your channel. I am American but lived in Britain for awhile and actually traveled on a narrow boat during that time!

Dear Vanessa. Your inspiring vlogs have helped me enormously to gradually come to terms with the loss of my mum who passed recently. I am in touch with friends from my childhood again now through Facebook! Some I know from aged about 5 years , I've just turned 77 years this week ! I've never really kept hold of friends ever since I moved house as a kid. I no longer have pets, I suppose I've missed out because I don't handle loss well.
Loss is so difficult to deal with and I understand how moving around a lot can make forming bonds tricky, but even though losing someone is heartbreaking the wonderful time spent with them is much more powerful and meaningful. Loss of anyone through death brings grief. Time will, eventually, give way to comforting and happy memories of that person. It's only a matter of time. How much that time lasts depends on how long you decide before you let go of grief. You cannot change the past. What you can control is before deciding to having comforting and happy memories for the rest of the time that you have left. Love your videos. ❤

Lost so many things overboard over the years, chimney hats, chairs, a table, walkie-talkies, so many sunglasses I have lost count nearly lost my sister once when she hit her head on a bridge, that was terrifying as there was nothing I could do from the helm. It's one of the downsides of the fenland area fen blows and little twisters out of nowhere. I really hope all those derelict potteries are done up and not just knocked down.

Hi Vanessa good to see you back in business. I'm amazed at the number of narrowboat people who also have vlogs on here. Been following a couple on a boat called rhapsody in blue. They have an airforce roundal and wee spitfire on their roof. Used to belong to a military guy they said. Another couple had a horrendous time passing through Leicester with dreadfully pollution in the canal. Just enjoying 186. 😊

A note of sadness in your vlog this week, and I am sorry for your loss. I have reached an age where many friends and acquaintances are moving on to wherever we go next, if anywhere. Living on a boat I am often unable to get to memorials etc, which is less than ideal. Thank you for your 'vignette' of the wren and other Jennys out there. Your memorial stands f or many of us who lack the skills to make their own. X
