Mars is a terrestrial planet located fourth from the Sun in the Inner Solar System. It has a diameter of 6,779 kilometers and a mass of 6.39 x 10^23 kilograms, making it roughly half the size of Earth. Mars is a rocky planet with a thin atmosphere primarily composed of carbon dioxide, with trace amounts of nitrogen and argon. The planet's surface is characterized by volcanoes, canyons, and impact craters, including Olympus Mons, the largest volcano in the solar system. Mars has a day length that is similar to Earth's, with a rotation period of 24.6 hours, and it orbits the Sun once every 687 Earth days. The planet has two small, irregularly shaped moons, Phobos and Deimos. Mars has been the subject of extensive exploration by spacecraft, including NASA's Viking missions in the 1970s and more recent rovers such as Curiosity and Perseverance. The search for evidence of past or present life on Mars remains an important goal of space exploration.

I always try to catch your videos of the images of Mars. I step outside and look at that little red dot in the sky and ponder how the Sumerians, Mayans, Greeks, etc. wondered what it was and what it looked like. And I was born to live in the time when I can call up your video, see what the surface of that dot really looks like and imagine standing there! To see the pictures of that place, millions of miles away, taken by a creation we made on Earth, sent out to and then landed on Mars, well.......I am still in awe of our species. I was born before man went into space and now I can look at a picture of the sun setting on Mars with the Earth next to it. A self-portrait few of the past could even have imagined! Again, thanks for this moment of transcendence for myself.

Curiosity was one of the best missions, although it was not directed towards the most interesting features on "Aeolus mons", which you refer to here as Mt. Sharp. A good video, but I hope we live long enough to see touch down at Hellas or the Marinaris Valley. Many thanks to you for the hard work. . .

@@zygmundzygmundowski @zygmundzygmundowski I was wondering how long it would be before a human-hating pessimist crawled out from under his rock to belch something toxic and nasty. It took quite a while this time; maybe that's a good sign!
