    Beautiful Cathedral! It is a shame The Holy Church no longer graces the world with such places.

    I was there but the line to see the Madonna was too long so thank you for this video.

    I just came back from Rome yesterday. I visited like 5 or 6 santa marias there. This was the first thing I saw after not checking youtube for a week.
    My first thought was "fuck, not again".

    I really do love this channel, mate. These are the sort of videos I always point your haters towards, because behind all of the politics and activism that overshadow your name for better or for worse, you seem to be a very educated and thoughtful guy.

    Ah ! Catalunya and La Moreneta . How I miss Barcelona . Catalunya and her ancient towns and splendid coasts. I remember my first visit in 1999 on a warm Autumn afternoon. By 2006, for the $ake of luCre, they built that hideous garage at the base of the monastery .I know not if that unsightly tangle of steel was covered in stone. SIGH !!! *~:)

    man, i am SO glad the catholics chose to ignore the 2nd commandment right from the start

      @0hn0haha Před 7 lety +5

      I'm glad the old law need not be followed by Christians. In fact, the Apostle Paul said that to do so was to reject Christianity.
      Beautiful stuff, though.

      Lol I love watching Protestants and Catholics debate. It's funny when Protestants get so mad they start saying they're the only true Christians just so they can take away any credibility from the Catholic point of view and give themselves all of it.

    • @0hn0haha
      @0hn0haha Před 7 lety +2

      That One Bro True, even I find it funny (protestant turned mostly Orthodox).
      Honestly tho, no matter what denomination, new testament vs old testament (covenant) thing has to be included.
      That being said, while the old testament is not necessary to follow, Apostle Paul does say that it's useful to study. So the modern non-all-uni-multi denominational Christians that just ignore it wholesale fail as well.

    For those who do not know this is the place where Ignatius of Loyola (Founder of the Company of Jesus and a Spanish Templar) offered his sword to the "The Black Madonna" and dedicated himself to her as a Knight in her service, years before the Jesuits were even founded (1450)
    Indeed, to the Spainards Ignatius and the Order have historically been considered Spain's greatest contribution to Romanism and for the last 450+ years have had the ascendency in both the Papacy and countries whose rulers subjected themselves to the dictates of the Roman Pontiff.

      Possibly; though only the chord structure was similar, and one phrase; however, it could be actual liturgical music.

    I grew up near here, Vilanova i la Geltrú, we used to go here quite a bit. I like the channel mate, it's lovely. I too have a deep appreciation of ancient history. Did you manage to get to Tarragona, or Tarraco as the Romans called it?

    Fascinating stuff. It's the place where the Llibre Vermell de Montserrat was found. It's music has been performed in the modern era. The version by Jordi Savall is quite impressive.

    On Twitter I am simultaneously arguing with a hysterical socialist calling me a far-right bigot and a neo-nazi calling me . . . well, it's a sign I'm doing something right.
    It's strangely therapeutic for my poor idiocy-addled brain to digitally walk around an old monastery.
