Tom Nook’s Evolution in Every Animal Crossing Game (2001-2023)

From the first animal crossing game for the gamecube all the way through new horizons, how has tom nook changed. is he the villain? is he a hero through history? How does he evolve? his backstory is actually sad in wild world and city folk. We see a big shift in new leaf too. Lets take a closer look at Tom Nook.

One of the many characters that was done so dirty on New Leaf and New Horizons was able to restore his role and charm. Love how much Nook has grown and how so many other animals respect and look up to him after everything he has achieved- The Roost and HHP convos on NH spell it out perfectly.
I do think his character is pretty much "finished" in the sense that he has achieved so much and he's happy with his life. Maybe next game can focus more on his legacy rather than his character itself.

Tom Nook does change his outfit depending on the seasons (I don't remember the exact dates though), and Isabelle does that as well, not to mention that they both wear a leotard when you do group stretching.

There's some interesting dips into his thoughts and character growth in Happy Home Designer of all things actually. Like now that he's comfortable in life, he donates most of his current income into orphanages, he elaborates a bit on the business that went down with Redd (without directly stating his name), as well as a few other tidbits I can't quite recall off the top of my head. ... Other than one that had something to do with noodles? I need to re-find that line, he fusses about an incident with Redd involving noodles. LOL
Another fun bit of info on the Redd debacle- in Japanese Folklore, Tanuki and Kitsune are often stated to be rivals if not bittern enemies.
Oh, and with Timmy and Tommy, if I remember correctly- they were orphans he took under his wing, but their dynamic is more along the lines of them being his apprentices. So he's kind of like a parental boss/teacher to the little guys. So he taught them his trade and eventually hands it down into their capable paws. :)

In AC:NL amiibo update you're able to sell your town to Nook, who will pay you either a lump sum or installments over 120 days but considering his role in NH would that mean that Nook bought all those towns, terraformed all of them, just so that he can start communities of islands?

I don't know why they didn't bring back the character episodes from Wild World where we actually got to know the special characters. That needs to be in every AC game! It was such a great feature. I always looked forward to the next one and would get so excited when the villagers gossiped about something new going on. Especially Pelly and Phyllis' drama was absolutely insane. 😄

I'll always find ACNH being announced with Isabelle's reveal trailer really funny.
I'm almost certain they were trying to avoid a retread of what happened with Amiibo Festival, where what looked like a trailer for a traditional AC game turned out to be for something else.

12:17 not only is that a Tom Nook Cross over in that Monster hunter game. that Game was Developed by From Software not capcom. From soft developed that game right after they finished making Demons Souls. that game also has Hello Kitty Cross over in it. i love that Fromsoft. the souls company was involved with Tom Nook and Hello Kitty.

He was listed as Villain of the Year in Nintendo Power magazine about his role in the GC version back in the day. LOL
He also makes a mafia reference at one point where he jokes about getting the "raccoon boys" after you if you don't pay up. X'D
I kind of do miss that side of him now as an adult, but I can seen how that could feel very pushy as a child playing. Especially as in that one he kind of forces you into an upgrade as soon as you have the last one paid off.
