The Capra and Gatekeeper are the out-of-the-box rigs that fit right in to this class. But there's so much room to imagine and create, it's great! I've been busy with Mini and Scale-1 of late, so this year I've kinda mashed together my Capra and an Injora Rock Buggy chassis/body, which is cheap, light and easy to work with.
How'd it turn out? So glad you asked! Let me show you!
    --
Important update: this is a Gmade R1 clone. I somehow missed this when making the video. Sorry for the oversight and apologies to gmade for featuring your design without attribution. I'll try hard not to let this happen again.
    --
Update: I created this video in the last few days before I left for ECCF. It's still a couple of days before I leave as I write this and I've been testing several different tire and foam combos - just didn't have time to do this until now!
In the video here, you can see how similar the two sets of tires perform. I actually do prefer my TPU inserts over the foams and the new treads are even better now I've run a few packs through them.
I'm going to compete using my 1.9 Mr Lines V2 for 5.4 Pro-Lines, I've decided. I'm about as happy as I'll get with the rig in its current form. It still isn't quite right, but it's pretty good. You can bet I'll be watching the other rigs closely at the comp to try to learn a bit more about what makes a good TT rig!

Download my TPU inserts here: (link coming soon)
Print instructions are on that page too. I've used generic TPU, so can't tell you it's shore rating, but softer is generally going to be better.

Excellent timing for this video! I was on the Injora website last night looking for 1.0" wheels and found myself looking at their chassis. I was blown away by the prices and what they offer. In theory, I could build up an upgraded scx24 using injora parts for slightly more than a stock scx24. I like this option a whole lot.
Well, your rig looks very impressive and ready to go for next weekend. I hope the tires work out and I cross my fingers in the hope the rain stays away for you guys.
How many classes are you competing in this year? You've got the JLU and Capra ready. Is the VRD ready to go?
Anyways, good luck this week with all the prep for the event. I hope it goes smoothly and stress free. Good Luck!

Cheers as always for your insight 🤙

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  Před 2 měsíci +1

There are a few ways to do it. Some use a stick radio, for starters.
I prefer my Sanwa MT4, using its thumb dial for rear steer (as demonstrated on video a few times with the Capra when setting up 4ws originally). But the MT4 isn't available anymore. What to do?
Well, some use the Noble NT4 Pro and put a 3d printed lever on it for rear steer.
Others use a Spektrum DX5 or 6 and have pre-set steering profiles set up depending on which auxiliary channel input they give.
Lastly, you can do it simply (but not overly well) with the Flysky GT5 and its 4ws profiles, activated/cycled with ch3 button (front, crab, 4ws, rear).

Where are you buying injora parts from? They are cheap in Canada. Rims are a quarter of the price of ones you'll find in hobby shops. Brass is anywhere from half to two-thirds cheaper than treal or equivalent. My brass diff covers for my trx4 were 30 bucks from injora, treals are 60. I would've also had to order treal parts from the states. Same goes for most of the other parts also. Just got one of their lightbars for 25 bucks. Lightbars at the hobbyshops are anywhere from 50 to 120.
