- This is a Face Off Battles of the Online Group Stage Battle for the European Beatbox Championship 2022. In the final phase of the Online Group Stage, every 1st ranked from a group has to face a 2nd ranked from a different group. This Battle will decide who will qualify for the European Beatbox Championship Live Event.
1st Ranked from Group C: GTS

2nd ranked from Group J: Azel
/ azelbeatbox
All participants will battle every other participant in their Group once in an AB-BA Battle.
At the start of each Battle, a coin flip will decide which Beatboxer will be A and which one will be B.
Beatboxer A announces which one of his 9 Videos shall be played. After that, Beatboxer B will announce which one of his 9 Videos shall be played.
After every round, the Judges will make a decision and announce which Beatboxer got their Points. In the second round, Beatboxer B is starting, and Beatboxer A can answer this time.
The points received from both rounds determine the winner of this battle.

Problem with Azel imo is the flow. If you can bounce your head through the whole song it’s really a plus. Big up to both anyway 👏👏

I feel like Azel just does all his favourite parts of dubstep/riddim, but with no chance to let his flow be consistent. I LOVE his sounds, but the structure isn't pleasant. I fckn love Azel, but I just feel like I can't watch his battles without cringing a bit :( I feel terrible for even saying that

what’s rlly frustrating is when azel is battling he rlly lacks variety, but when he’s making one-off vids for his instagram or CZcams he’s experimenting w all kinds of shit that sounds amazing

That's because beatbox is double-headed. You have the competitors and the artists, they really aren't the same thing.

Azel has great potential but most of his combos & transitions are getting repetitive overtime.
On the other hand, gts tracks were simple, but melodic & so well composed at the same time.

Me molesta la falta de creatividad en sus rutinas en cuanto a estructura, siempre una melodía de intro, build up (que siempre es la misma progresión con el clickroll) y un par de letras para el drop. Repite la misma fórmula siempre y los sonidos se usan casi siempre de la misma forma dando esa sensación de que es monótono y aburrido todo el tiempo.

For me azel are one most skilled beatboxers, technique 10/10. I think he only needs to explore more new stuff
GTS sounded fantastic here, musicality filled with actual complexity, and a smart use of special sounds with nice flow and cleanliness. His second round was amazing and the first one is a round that i already knew of, but had his best execution here; ideas on point.
Azel remains having the same problems i've found with his battle against Stan, but now, all his build ups contain the same progression of the click roll. And man, his rants don't work here at all, i hate using the word, but it's pretty cringy.
A battle with this format, that gives you the chance to record a whole round by your own and elaborated peacefully how everything should sound and polish every detail, should expand your exploration of structure and actual composition. This leads to GTS showing amazing pieces of music and pushing his creativity forward, and Azel reproducing with absurd limitations what he consumes and demonstrates, dubstep and riddim.

AZELは音圧が弱い感じしますね。特にGTSみたいな1音1音がパワフルで完成度高い人と並ぶと余計目立ちますね
AZELの技術は素晴らしいものがある。ドロップも独特で迫力があるが、もう少し強弱やメロディアスな部分も伸びないと今後勝てない気がした。好きなビートボクサーなので、頑張ってほしい。

It just feels that Azel sounds the same no matter what he does.
True ay. Kinda reminds me of B-art : unique special sounds that are really dark and low but a bit too repetitive and messy in the construction of their routines. Very impressive the first few times you hear them but after some time you get used to it and it's not as surprising anymore.

If you're a beatboxer you know Azel's fucking siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick. He's not going to make you headbang a lot but damn is his variety incredible. His style is his own, which is more than I can say for 99% of the other ones.

I understand Azel's flow and where he's coming from cause I always hear my brother listening to riddim. But Azel needs to add musicality, like a melody or else he won't win a battle with that style unless it's with another beatboxer with a similar style. Hard riddim vs melodic beats that have great structure and awesome drops, most of the time melodic beats would win. I think Azel needs to learn new combos or practice using sounds he doesn't normally use, also learning new sounds can help his Arsenal and create awesome riddim drops.
Or he could just continue to develop this style if it fits him and he enjoys it. :)
For sure it might be hard to win battles against more melodic tracks but on this style he will be the one guy who mastered it and people will take as a reference to this genre.

Azel has the potential to do way better, there’s something about the structures and meodies he’s doing in this competition that feel repetitive and not so likable (even though it sounds cool and powerful)

Your first round got wrecked in the first ten seconds of your competitors set, I speak to you about flow you have gotten better but please do research on American beatboxers in the 90’s, 2nd-Mongolian throat music will greatly improve your base in all range’s. You have the skill but it’s how you present it on the dish, lastly you might have over saturated us with your channel cook up your recipe’s in the lab with trusted individuals then bring it to us. constructive criticism hopes land on a listening ear……..

Crazy bass, crazy sounds, but there is sth very critical for Azel, he is very great on showcasing his techniques, but failed to make a routine for listeners to follow. Too much beat interruptions, repetitive transition, it's just not easy to follow the beat and headbang

Azel needs more variety. He’s good at what he does, but not good enough to compete with others who are talented with many more sounds and arrangements. The biggest issue is his continuous use of the same sounds and patterns to where there isn’t much different beats he can produce with the slight changes. The music he listens to has really crafted him instead of him taking influence. The music, which is a variation of dubstep, but totally not dubstep, is garbage. I’ve listened to it and I can be weird and enjoy it with similar hand motions Azel does, but there’s no real pleasure aurally for me. Time for me to listen to some When the Morning Comes by Hall and Oates.
Beatbox battle is not all about how many variation do you have its all about how they deliver their music.
I've thought this exactly for a while, the routines I've seen in recent months all sound similar from him, from Demuth to Angra and other little snippets it's all the same sounds in the same or similar patterns which is cool in a way but also for a listeners POV makes me not want to listen. I get people have their favourite sounds which I respect, but there has to become a point where you have reached your capacity with that same reused arrangements.

I'm not too in depth with the BBX scene I just see stuff from time to time but you would think the goal is to constantly try and progress and push yourself for new creative sounds? Having your main selection is fine and everything but as an artist he needs more variety. As you said it's not really battle matierial, I would bump along to this if it were just at a showcase event or something but not a competition.

I feel like Azel is running out of original sounds and combos. I didn’t hear much here that I haven’t heard before. I like his style, but when it comes to battle, you have to bring something new in your rounds and doing mostly only combos you’ve already done before is not a good look.
He has original sounds, but his structure and combos themselves are starting to lack in originality. You can see the look in the judges’ faces that they know what’s coming and are not surprised by his rounds.
Because of this GTS crushed him easily.
The judges bopped to every single one of his drops, and his second round was easily what took the battle. His structure was nice and his sounds were unique and original. GTS had this in the bag the moment he finished his first round.
Azel is such a powerful, unique, and unbelievably skilled beatboxer but he lacks melody so damn hard. If he tried to mix his style with a style thats similar to DEN, he would GBB worthy and would have had this battle go 10-0 for him.
Azel has sounds only.
