- Thanks for joining me this year in this watercolor journal journey. I hope to paint in my journal most days of the year and invite you to join me. We don't need big resolutions, just gentle intentions to tend to our creative soul a little bit everyday.

You have inspired me. I get something akin to stage fright when I go to begin painting in my journal, you would think the whole world was going to see what I painted!! I am retired but my husband still works so the house is quiet when I paint. I love slow quiet mornings With my watercolors, my hot tea and my cat who loves to dip her paws in my paint water and sometimes will sit on my open journal as if that's why it's there is for her comfort. 😂
I believe in you Teri! I promise, I won’t peek 🫣 at what you are painting. The slow quiet mornings are my favorite too! I don’t have a cat, but them seem to be pretty mischievous helpers to all those who I know who have them. You’ll just have to get two journals, one for the cat and one for you.

Hello, I came to CZcams this evening to find something else to try to paint, other than my on-going effort to paint loose florals, which is taking me time and time and time to learn...I found you and found this and I just followed along and actually made a painting! I'm not a 'natural' at this though I am persistent and also often can't make things look how I'd like or wish, even the loose florals. Doing this with you I feel great about what we did, what I learned following along, hearing your voice, what you had to say, painting in your journal...no stress, relaxed, I just ordered a journal to paint in with you. My cat came by and sat with me. I don't quite yet paint in quiet or with music because I'm usually learning from a video. I want to improve, relax, be able to make things, feel comfortable and relaxed and intentional with my brush strokes. I will come back again tomorrow for day 2. Thank you so much for this video. 🌸

I just started my first sketch book. I listen to music, have a small heater and a scented candle. Generally listen to Debussy and quiet piano. My two small dogs sit in a chair nearby.

Just recently found you Shana and am loving your style and methods. You make me believe I cam do this. It's June 2024 and I'm just getting started with my journal. Have really been fighting putting the first stroke down on the page. You've inspired me ❤! My plan is to include daily Bible verses with my paintings as I want to leave it for my family when God calls me home. 63 yrs old and just learning to paint. Thank your for the encouragement!

I paint after my husband leaves for work. Also my two kitties are always with me.

Late to the party, but really excited about this journey. I either have 1960's VietNam music blasting or Vivaldi's Four Seasons. I paint and sew in the same room that is the sunniest, most pleasant space in my house. My six year old cat died four weeks ago and I just stopped everything until I found you the other day. I am really enjoying binging your videos. Your easy, non judgemental, encouraging videos are amazing and fanned my spark to paint again. Thank you.

I am finishing up a food sketchbook so I was painting candy and garlic while I played your video. I liked hearing you talk in the background, even though I wasn’t following along. It was almost like painting in a real class where people are talking while you’re working. Happy painting!

I like to listen to some kind of lofi playlist bc it’s calming and I don’t get distracted by the words. My dog is usually sitting nearby. Love the sketchbook idea. I need to just get to it and experiment. Thanks for the inspiration!

I like the light tint method you used for the white daisies. I am not a fan of masking medium. This turned out so well, it may be the next entry in my journal.

This is great and I am really looking forward to this. I am still fairly new at this and you have answered my own question already on what sketch book is good. 😅😅😅 yup don't paint with the coffee and drink the paint water 😂😂 yeah that would be me!!!❤
Get yourself a favorite travel mug. I even have different one with a lid for cold drinks when it’s not coffee time. Happy painting and welcome to the watercolor journey.

I have put my paint brush in my coffee at least 1x a month since 2020 when I started painting watercolor 😅😅😂
😂 it’s a hard habit to break.
I like having music but I often just hum myself. If I’m really concentrating I find myself humming over and over just one phrase of a song. It makes me laugh when I realize I’m doing that because it’s very subconscious! Does that make me a crazy painter?

It is a cold press paper so it has a little tooth to it.
I am hoping to paint or draw every day as last year I hardly painted at all…
I have two dogs and one of my cats, I usually listen to music, podcast or audible either works for me it cancels everything else out…
