    Now, in 2022, rag paper is sought by watercolor artists, and is VERY expensive...but the best!

    I came upon this video while searching for the method described by Eric Hebborn in his Art Forger's Handbook, thinking that I could certainly make my own paper with the aid of visual reference.
    Well, the method shown here is exactly how he described, but I was completely foolish to think that I could do it myself. hehe Wonderful video still.

    Rag paper was cheaper than parchment. Wood pulp paper hadn't been invented yet.

    and the rag man would pay a small sum for the rags not just get it for free

      by today's standards it is, because we now have cheaper ways to do it, but back then it was chap compared to other techniques. at least that is what I unrestrained.

      It was still expensive, but compared to the cost of vellum, it was cheap
