  • Due to a ton of questions about Shrinkage for Conduit Bending in this video I explained how it works. Not every Electrician will factor in Shrinkage for conduit bending which is fine, but there happens to be more than than I expected.
Shrinkage is used for those that want to maximize their conduit and as long as you have the correct measurement adding for shrinkage is simple. I personally use it when I am not in a rush and have time to figure it out. Below I have the list of degrees and shrinkage for each.
DEGREE OF BEND SHRINKAGE PER INCH OF RISE
    10 1/16"
    22.5 3/16"
    30 1/4"
    45 3/8"
    60 1/2"

You are the best at explaining, and you’re not even holding a pipe or bending while doing it. Bravo, man. Your explanations have helped immensely.

Mr. Michaud, I'm a 53 year old guy who's enrolled in an Electrical Technology program at the local university. I greatly appreciate your attention to detail and visual aids to help me understand the specifics in conduit bending and all your electrical videos. I'm glad I subscribed. Thank you, sir.

I have came across your videos and no one has ever showed me the proper way to bend conduit. I have always made it work and cut off whatever but this helps especially being in HVACR and not ever going through classes for bending conduit. Thanks again

I’m a plumber, and this video helped me out today. There’s a real shortage in stainless steel compression fittings where I’m from right now. So I had to make as many bends as possible(lines are for a detergent system in a train shop)
