The 90's JDM rally legend ruled the scene and won our hearts as one of the most unique cars ever built. As a result, my attainable dream Subaru was always been the JDM Impreza WRX STI Type R and today, we finally sent it!

The roof vent was also on 4 door sti and wrx RA's too and that TypeR is never RWD, the DCCD only locks the centre diff, it doesn't change it to rwd bias, it's always 50/50 AWD. I've owned both and no the coupe isn't better than a 6.5 Tommi Makinen, still have my 6.5 on my channel..
Also the typeR coupe never won any world rally, the 22b coupe did though, and the 22b Subaru is 6.5 equivalent not a typeR, that's the actual homoligation special used in WRC, the typeR was only ever homolagated for group N, which means basically standard car, production model with only a few mods allowed..
Congrats on a great buy! Really glad you ended up with a JDM model - definitely the pick of the lot. What I find interesting is how much the JDM Imprezas fly under the radar compared to domestic market Imprezas around the world. Example, AUDM Type R prices are always higher despite missing the hugely signifant features like DCCD, same as the P1 in the UK. JDM Type R and Type RA are hidden gems!

9:28 under or oversteer? Edit, if I watched 1 more minute, over steer. That’s awesome usually Subarus understeer.
The driver controlled centre diff gives the car a 65% rear torque bias and the coupe is also less rigid because it lacks a central b pillar.
Coupe’s have the DCCD which allow for some RWD Action haha!😝
@@ClayWong didn’t some of the newer STI’s have that too? I just thought subys like to understeer a bit because the engine is so far forward. But yeah DCCD would definitely cure that!
@@brokenlegz Pretty sure all STI's since the Bugeye have DCCD.
@@DriftNick only Bugeyes with close gear ratio 6 speed boxes have dccd, (type RA, spec c, S202, etc). Mighty car mods put one in their AUDM STi Type R.
Is it a limited version? or did someone add the roof scoop and paint it. It has to be a limited if it is sonic blue from factory though, as the standard version 5 Type R never came in blue (except for the AUDM Type R). Also the STi badge isn't factory, get the missing original badge and take that one off bro! it looks much better stock.

Nope he drove a STi Type R Version 5 with a WRC front bumper. You can tell by the red seats and straight body opposed to wide body.

@@manlybanda6156 It's time for a rewatch! also you can tell by the Type R's vertical hood vents, 22B has the horizontal vents like the one in the video (it's aftermarket or a factory JDM option)
