- Why not capture the gas coming off manure lagoons?! A dairy farm that that captures methane from manure and converts it into power that is directly piped into the the city's natural gas pipeline! As long as the cows are pooping, the farm is able to produce renewable energy! The process converts methane to energy, which the farm sells. With a methane digester, natural gas coming off the manure ponds is no longer just emitted into the air.
How it works:
Water is used to flush cow manure from barns. It then goes through a system that essentially operates like a screen, separating the liquids from the solids. The liquid goes into lagoons. The manure lagoons are covered with a tarp. The manure lagoons naturally boil methane. The tarp traps gases from the lagoon and the methane goes into a pipe, which is able to continuously generate electricity. The water and fertilizer byproducts of the manure go back onto feed crops, and the grain and hay the cattle eat then results in manure, which produces energy, he said. #FarmingIsCool #SaveACowPowerTheWorld

The part with Onyx asking if it's like the ladies selling their farts online made me laugh so much lmao
that creaked me up lol
That was awesome
(Onyx asking if it's like the ladies selling their farts online..... Onyx's (?- Ag ( Econ- Rhiannon 😊)/ dirt races....(CZcams, Patreon.....(?!))🤨🤔
"Maybe it's a goat egg" Might be the funniest thing I've ever heard, the delivery was so flawless.
Mrs. Millennial Farmer: "You can tell it's a canyon because of the way that it is," is the best line of the video.
What the hell zac or Becky! You got to start giving a warning on the laugh factor before it happens.
Just had to mop the kitchen floor from blowing coffee out my nose and ears after Onyx said do they sale the farts online like those ladies do? My wife told me about seeing that online and of course out of pure curiosity I had to check it out!!! That’s what I call true family TV. Real is real!! Looked like you where in a canyon Becky. Love it guys!!!
I’m a custom silage harvester and the 19mm is the cut length. The distance from the knives and shear bar don’t change because you want them tight for a clean cut. What dose change is the feed roll speed, and that is what forces the crop into the knives. Slower feed roll speed shorter cut, faster the speed longer the cut. Cool to see how it’s done in other parts of the country!
Was just going to post this. Its effectively the length of material fed into the drum from the feed rollers(compression rollers) before a knife passes it.
The dairy farm sure is different from when I was a kid. I remember the cows coming in and going to the same station. As he said
‘Creatures of habit’
This video needs to be shared with AOC seeing that she is so against methane... You can't get much greener than this.... Great Tour Guys
As a waste water technician I appreciate the process of the anaerobic digester and covered lagoon.
Come on Zach!! You and Randy completely missed the “feels good to get milked” statement!! 😂
I absolutely LOVE when the non farmer finds out that cows, not only enjoy, but look forward to being milked! A day at the spa for these heifers!
,Looks like quite the operation. There are 2 huge dairies west of me. One is 9500 head & the other is 11,000 head. They use the rotating milking system I think. When the 9500 head dairy was built they said it cost $50,000.000 to build. They even have an apartment building for the workers.
1. A farm near us has a similar milking operation, but the cows walk on to a giant carousel. They’re milked in one revolution and exit, it’s pretty cool to watch.
2. Idk why anyone would downgrade from a Cleveland Steamer. Those are the steamiest steamer that ever steamed! 😂
3. Onyx wins this one with fart in a jar comment. The looks on everyone’s faces was priceless! 😂😂😂
4. Love the Neature Walk references!
Don't take the shoe's off of Buttercup. That is one purrty 18 wheeler. Amazing to see the work it takes to produce food and products for humans. Thanks Zack.
Another awesome video. I’ve worked for a company where we hauled waste fruits & veggies into digesters in a less rural location and a farm in south GA. Scientists are working more and more on how to recycle one byproduct into another product and so on. Jokingly they are using everything from the cow except the moo, and they are working on that. Thanks all.
Thank you, Zach!! This was sooo interesting! You are more than welcome to come visit our farm in Kansas!🥰 We milk 3 cows!🤣 Ilsa could even milk a cow and a goat, feed bottle lambs, goats, and calves! 😁 What a fun learning experience for your children and US of course! We LOVE following along with you! Thank you for being a farm advocate, Zach! I am fourteen and I have a farm CZcams channel too! Someday I hope to reach as many people as you do! Blessings to you!
I've lived in Phoenix for over 60 years. I know that location well. Years ago we used to hunt mournng doves out there, in the fall. They have a HUGE hay sales operation, also.
What will really amaze you is the cows will usually come into the same milking spot every time they come in!! and most will come in the same group!!!
I'm so glad that Onyx learned that cows are happy to get milked! 😊
I am a dairy farmer in New Zealand. Love seeing how different countries farm dairy cows!
That's definitely a big boy dairy setup forsure loved the content keep em coming
Love the digester. Great use of a "waste" product. Appreciated the water discussion considering how dry we are out west.
Trevor is YT gold. I've been catching up on his videos. Thanks for introducing him to me (us)!!
The best comment someone has left about me! Thank you.
Probably a goat egg! Good one Zach😂 Both of you guys channels are great to watch so it’s real hilarious when you guys are all together
The one from Onyx at 23:06 was even better . 🤣😂
@@BarryBarrington_ I agree! I made this comment before watchin through the video but I just stay laughing the entire video😂
You can tell it's a goat egg by the way that it is.
I think Ila should get a pony for her birthday a great addition to your family
wow I never seen a dairy operation like that.. I was raised on a dairy farm a small one about 120 to 160 head of cows.. but using the by products of the cows. and recycling it it pretty darn cool.. I wish more dairies were like this one.. this is phenomenal.
They will be its catching on every where, there are dairy farms now supplying electricity to villages in areas where no wind mills are allowed
Next time I want an airplane ride.
Parachute?
When you said, “if it’s anything like our equipment it’s got a dead battery” I absolutely lost it and LOLd
I have 75 dairy cows (which is still many in my region) and this video is breathtaking! Thank you for the tour!
What an operation. My in laws have 3 dairy farms in the family all around 300 milking. This place is next level. Be interesting how many employees they have and if they plan on going to robotic milkers.
Zachs sense of humor is like no other. Hahah! Best channel on CZcams!
Absolutely great video. 7000 milking cows!? I guess "Holy cow" doesn't really cover it, does it? Their methane is put into a high pressure pipeline?! What an amazing operation! Thanks Zach!!
This was one of my favorite farms you have visited. Watching Trevor sit back there with the kids was very fitting. 😂 Awesome video Zach
Oddly enough, I know that’s where I belong.
@@BalesHayFarmandRanch you are the best man.
@@blueonblack3971 lol thank you.
As a non-farmer and rancher, this was amazing! Thank you for the tour!
Zach, I have enjoyed your videos for several years, but you have killed it with this one. Best ever. I'm a retired Coop Manager and have retired back on our northeast Nebraska family farm. Keep up the great work.
One of the best videos I’ve ever seen thank you to all the farmers out there and may god bless each and every one of them
Man that dairy farm is impressive, would have been awesome to see an aerial view of the place, man they have got it set up for efficiency, the gas part is freaking awesome, thanks for sharing, best one video yet
Very interesting indeed. I am retired now but I was a tour bus driver out of Ontario, Canada. I have driven by these huge dairy operations in New Mexico, Arizona, and California but never had the chance to actually visit. Most of them aren’t on land that has irrigation so they buy all the food for the cows. I also liked how he explained the pens for the young calf’s being like a child’s crib. That should stop the well meaning people that think farmers are treating their animals poorly from condemning without education
“Check Engine Light - the greatest addition to the modern automobile”, said no person EVER
Most impressive milking system I have ever seen. We have one local farm that does about 800 a day, but nothing like this!
Wow! The brains and engineers of this whole operation is a true miracle! This is unbelievable! Thank you so much for the tour! I love milk and beef so this was really amazing to me. What I loved the most was those children talking about those cow farts 🤣! It’s awesome to see our little future brains at work! I would have loved to see a close up of some baby calves 😊! Great tour! Thank you!
I love these types of videos. It explains where our food comes from.. Thanks Zach..
Zach, this is one of the most interesting videos you have done. I’m an old dairy farm girl. Thanks
Zack after being raised on a dairy farm in wv that has got to be the very best dairy I've ever seen would love to have a look at it we used to milk 250 head with 4 milkers 2 times a day its really hard to believe they do what they do and converting manure to methane brilliance and to think everyone in California when they cook with gas can you only imagine what they would say if they found out it was manure keep up the great video and please go buy a horse for your daughter
"If it's anything like our equipment its got a dead battery".
Love it
Randy was wrong about the length of cut the knifes and shear bar are always set nearly touching it’s the speed of the feed rollers that determine the length they are set at a certain speed automatically to give u the length of cut u set it at!
The efficiency of the dairy is amazing - everything is used, nothing goes to waste.
That was a great tour. Liked seeing the air sprayers. Looked like the whole family had a good time
My grandfather and then my dad ran a Holstein dairy a long time ago, but it was nothing like the one you guys toured. Pretty dang awesome!!
For those that aren't aware, methane is also referred to as swamp gas. It's very common to see methane bubbles in certain ponds and lakes and is the result of the decomposition of organic materials that naturally occur in that type environment. Ghost fires can occur when the methane is ignited above the aforementioned water bodies, but is rarely explosive due to the low volume of both organic material and the gas accumulation.
Air Tractors are made right here by me in Olney Texas. You should come do a tour of the line and see the farms around this part of Texas.
Great video showing so many different farming methods, the public should be aware of the great work and responsibility that the great American farmers are providing to our economy.
Great video. That's a heck of a operation! Zack, you are such a great dad. I enjoy how you interact with your kids.
This is a grand presentation of the most important work of America ... go agriculture.
Hey Zack/Becky, keeping in the spirit of touring different farms and learning from eachother... I'd love to make a suggestion. Maybe at some point in the future you guys could set up a colab with the guy from "Crime pays but botany doesn't". He's a really cool and really smart self taught botanist. He's probably mostly against racing around big motorized vehicles across beautifull natural areas but I think ya'll could learn a lot from eachother. His enthausiasm about botany is really contageous. I bet he has some vast and invaluable knowledge about the native plant life of minesota and effects of water management/herbicides on the ecology of the region. Or might give some extra insight into the ecological areas you guys maintain (natural wetland areas if I remember correctly?). Might be a cool contrast to the constant agricultural based plants. Thanks for all the awesome videos!!
Zack: "come on do it you woos"
Cow: "not with Trever here" (backs away)
That scene was great and funny 🤣
I can't believe how high tech farming has become. Not my grandpa's milking parlor.
Hi Zach. I agree- one the most interesting videos you've made. Drone footage of the entire layout would have been awesome.
I love the sounds of the birds near a desert dairy in the wintertime. We farmed AZ for the last 5 generations to include dairies, alfalfa, cotton, and pecans. Love the video.
This was one of the most interesting videos that you have put out. It is amazing how the dairy farmer is using the byproducts of his farm to help the environment. Sounds like he has done his homework. Would like to get one of those Bales hats. They are sharp looking.
This year's tours cannot be beat. You peeps are blowing it up. Really interesting and educational for young and old alike. Always good to have Trevor along with the team.
So interesting. Farming has changed a lot in the last 30 years. Thanks for sharing!
That was interesting. Dairy farming on a whole different level than the small family farm I'm familiar with. Thanks for bringing us along on the tour.
that is one hell of a sophisticated, high dollar, day to day operation. Thanks for the team effort on making this vid possible.
Thank you for the time and effort put in to these videos. This is fascinating, I have never seen a dairy farm with all this going on, or even knew that one even existed. The cost to bring it into existence has to be staggering, also the cost to operate it.
Well done Zack! The science is simply amazing at that dairy farm! Thanks for the tour and the education you bring can't wait to see you start working your farm.
That was crazy interesting. Coming from a fellow dairyman. 👍🏼
This was so very interesting, things we would probably never see. Thank you for filming and sharing.
This is by far the most interesting farm tour you’ve done. Loved it! Keep ‘Em coming!!!
That was one hell of a milk operation !!
Great video…the complexity of the dairy operation was unbelievable and it runs like clockwork.
Man I just love seeing so much advancement of farming. Weather it crops or animals it amazes me how much goes into the process of farming today. Thanks for all this new information you are sharing. I wish when I was in ag class and learning about farming that you tube would have been around. Keep up the great work and videos zack
Thanks for the interesting farm visits this year , they were all very educational and this milk farm was amazing
Wow that was awesome. That’s what I call an industrial dairy operation
The Air Tractor is made south of the high plains at Olney Texas. If this area (West Texas and Eastern New Mexico} were a separate state it would be the number 3 dairy state. The dairy's and cheese factories look like cities in the night. A few months ago lightning struck a methane generator and lit up the sky for 40 miles. The gas is shipped to California at a premium price along with our gas from the Hugoton field. The cheese factory gets its milk by pipeline from the dairy farms that cover tens of thousands of acres.
Great video Zach! I'm always amazed at these large dairies and how they operate! I milked 100 cows in a freestall with a double five parlor, kind of pales in comparison!! Crop dusters were interesting too! I hope you bought Isla that horse!! 😊😊
Zach: Trevor is a hoot. Need more of him….. Grey Poupon😅😅. Best tour video so far… Captain Al from Tampa
Dairy cows and A-10 talk. Awesome!
The future of all farms max. Efficiency.
It really awesome seeing how different dairy farming in the US is compared to how we do it here in NZ but boy that farm is something !
This is an awesome video and it is amazing to see what takes place at a dairy. It is good to see them capturing and reusing resources instead of letting them go to waste.
There's a fine line between 'fermentation' and 'decomposition' (AKA 'rot') They are looking to turn it brown, not black.
Great Video Zach, the Dairy Farm that supports workers in the local area, makes gas fuel using modern Tech, the Dairy is Modern Tech, wonderful video, Zach you are doing a wonderful job showing the City people where their food & natural Fuel come from, Keep up your good work Zach you & your Family & your fellow Farmers are a inspiration to all Humanity, Cheers & Best Wishes, Trevor.W.Bacelli. Biloela Qld Australia.
I know a pig operation doing methane capture, they are using it to run generators and using it to power their operation as well as selling the power back to the grid.
I'm from Yuma. 100 miles away same crops and mountain views. Love it.
Thanks for the tour of the milking the cow's operations. Totally awesome. Field In Michigan
This is awesome well done crew. What a well run Dairy so progressive. Awesome
nice job showing what real people do in california nice dairy in the 21 century
"selling farts like the ladies online" - onyx figured out 21st century online capitalism on a dairy farm. smart guy! lol
How can one get tired of seeing mountains? I guess it's just what we are use to? I can not get not seeing them! lol Good Video and looks like you had a great time as usual.
That dairy operation was very interesting. Thanks for another look at different farming operations.
That was a great episode Zac, thanks. As an Australian farmer, the scale of that dairy and its integrated enterprise is awesome- thanks for sharing it.
Props to Trevor for helping get this content!
"I wanna a horse" followed by a cute smile.
Oh Zach, you are in SOOOO much trouble.
What a educational, and informative video.... well done guys well done! I applaud you for making some real content for all of us to watch and learn.
You’re right that’s one of the most interesting tours you’ve posted, thanks Dennis
Dogfighting A-10’s? You’re killing me Smalls!!! 😂🤣😂 Great vid! 👍🏼
A-10s are so awesome! But not for dog fighting 🤣🤣
Love the friendship and respect you guys have for one another.
Impressive farm and energy production operation...one of your best videos
It certainly was one of the most interesting farm tours- well done and great entertainment!
Wow that’s one sophisticated dairy farm. Thank you for sharing 👊🇺🇸.
