Love this guyâs approach to grain filling. đđ
Wow wow, I wish you in Arizona so you can paint my kitchen cabinets. Love your work. Itâs beautiful. đ
I like the ceruse look of the blue and black glaze.
I would love to see how that looks when itâs painted? Can you tell the difference between an oak cabinet with green filler and a new/smooth cabinet thatâs been painted?
Even with grain filler, oak has some waves in it, but it looks a lot better. We'll have the full video of this job live in a couple of days and you can see how it turned out.
I feel like this process works better if you prime then fill.
Hi there I've watched so many videos on painting cabinets but what if I'm looking for a natural finish for the cabinets. My cabinets have that orange look but I'm hoping sanding them down and using your grain filler can help with the look I'm looking for. Any suggestions?
Does your filler not shrink at all? Or it is minimal. I was told they always shrink a little bit which means you need to fill proud then sand back. But i think you're not filling proud.
What is the name of the wood grain filler and where do you get it? My wife and I are about to paint our kitchen cabinets and need to do thisâŠ.
I use Plus 3 drywall compound mixed with water. Here's an old video I did showing the process: czcams.com/video/21W8kF3cO4A/video.html
Working on a new updated video right now.
Have you ever had any problems with it cracking or falling out? I would worry that if the doors got slammed enough over time, the drywall would crack and come out
Been doing this method for over 15 years and never had it fall out or anyone call about it falling out or cracking.
@@diypaintingAwesome. Weâre about to paint 30yo oak cabinets and Iâve been looking for a method that didnât involved sanding them flat or spending hundreds in the wood filler. So glad I found this before we started
Do not use joint compound to do this. That's insane. They make wood putties and fillers with glue and hardeners and actual wood so that you still have wood doors. And you don't even need that. Start with 120 grit sand paper, then 200, then 400. Your wood grains will be gone. Don't over do it though. Once you get up into the 1000 grits your filling all the pores paint would seep into to bond with.
I've done over 200 sets of cabinets with this exact method. It's significantly cheaper and easier than using those wood putties and fillers. It sands better and holds up perfectly. Some of the jobs I've done with this method are going on 20 years (been painting since 2001).
